poem of the day June 30

How the problems
come into town
with all of us sleeping
in our nice filled house
The banks are failing
Rome burned
Too much worry
about who to love
Pretty guns shoot
children eating candy
Sunburned cities
turning to rust
War in the desert
in search of hate
The rest of us watching
with our team
on the screen
while Mother Earth
Lets out her dream

poem of the day June 29

The idea of design
has carried
inspirational candles
along highways
lost in the struggle
between man and man not

poem of the day June 28

All that was
left in the ruble
of the falling down sugar house
were memories
that sprung to life
with each pull
of a nail
Old boils long forgotten
rose like steam
seeping into
the minds of
those working
to clear the
foundation
for a new
generation

poem of the day June 27

Echo bridge
is sleeping
Content to span
the lazy river
Coming to life
only when
someone shouts
secrets into the well

poem of the day June 26

I climbed
the mountains
in my mind
All the rocks
grown through time
Some so high
Some so low
Looking for
paths of gold
that comes and goes

poem of the day June 25

The immortal power of art
can take the present into the past
making for strange bedfellows of time
Brush strokes are finger prints of the moment
springing to life in the mind of the beholder
New candles that give birth to old canvases
painted with inspirations by those long gone

poem of the day June 24

Time just walks along
ready or not
Forgotten by those
who  are living it
The present is fleeting
waiting for no one
while unfolding memories
are reminders
Markers of life
bubbles like birthdays
that come and go
here, there and everywhere

poem of the day June 23

“Not for the dizzy minded
or the easily led astray”
the wizard cautioned as he thrust
upon his mesmerized audience
a bag full of lost planets
spinning out of control

poem of the day June 22

round and round
rain hard
green leaves
grey ground
round and round
hard rain
leaves green
ground grey
round and round
two sides of yesterday’s storm

poem of the day June 21

appear
or disappear
it is a question
living inside
of rain drops
that can only
be answered
by those who are one
with the rain

poem of the day June 20

First step
in the journey
is the most
important
Every step after
is just part
of the walk
Still it is only
at the end
of the day
that ones know
if they came
or went

poem of the day June 19

Water is so basic
a glass at every meal
given free to anyone
thirsty in the field
but now  with global warming
we find ourselves in doubt
to take a sip  or save the drip
our lives consumed with drought
so next time your brushing or
sitting on the throne
know water is more important
then your silly new smart phone

poem of the day June 18

A antique silhouette
ovaled into a small keepsake frame
worn bare from fondling
A young woman with a long braid
dead so many lives ago
Only a glimpse of her now
Her inviting half smile given  freely
perhaps to some soldier
A reminder of love lost
within the struggle
Something rubbed raw
between morals and man

poem of the day June 17

Wonder what
sunrise is like on
distant earth planets
that circle sun stars
many light years away?
Does the edge of an alien dawn
always awaken with the spirit of true love?
The same universal love that has permeated  Earth
each day like soul rays bouncing off a mountain
A pure sunlight to illuminate the darkness of space

poem of the day June 16

There is a bridge
I often walk
Always stopping
before the fork
But this day
on a whim
I opened the door
to  face the wind
And when I did
a fork tongue wiggled
And I was found
one side of middle

poem of the day June 15

I was walking in life's footprints
somewhere up the mountain
climbing naked trails
frozen to the pavement where the savior
kept his special box
I could see many steps of other strangers
hiding in the bushes
covered over by the long lost canopy
Even I got trapped in this vision
forgetting the moment
lost within the fate of destiny

poem of the day June 14

I saw a third eye yesterday
First one I had ever seen
painted in the valley
of the titans
I asked if I could touch it
And when I could
I felt a different light
from this eye of white

poem of the day June 13

Sometimes things
don’t work
the way they’re planned
The wall opens
before the door
One time
I was watching
the others
and found
that reality was
overlooked
by their myth of desire

poem of the day June 12

I waited for the  fruit that did not come
All secrets in this garden were
hiding inside withered time vines
that cling to trees close to the bay
The same trees where I am watching
wishful thinking warriors
empty their ego
of everything  except
dreams from another realm

poem of the day June 11

Ice down
Ice box
Ice cold
Ice house
Ice pick
Ice dream
Ice carving
Ice cream
Ice freeze
Ice belt
Ice nice
till ice melts

poem of the day June 10

Sometimes to climb
the mountain I have
to let go of my chains
and let song birds
sing me on their om wings
in order to reach the summit
which is often
hiding inside of clouds

poem of the day June 9

Drizzle at dawn
Sunrise hidden
Gentle patter
striking stone steps
Outside still leaves
hug their trunk
like children clinging
to last night’s dream
No sun to wake
their sleeping souls

poem of the day June 8

What if the world
ran out of words
No nouns
No pronouns
Not even a verb
Would the machines step in
with tattoo codes on body parts
in order to order
the evolving world of quiet man?

poem of the day June 7

Dog Food
The same routine
year in and year out
brings a certain contentment
that can cover over dreams
that get lost in time
The trick to real happiness
is to sprinkle
each day with
the spice of life

poem of the day June 5

In the new world of the future
I wonder if there will be
robots trapped in human bodies
with thoughts so strong
it would be impossible to stop the
longing to be a machine
Will this robot desire  cause
some to take the first steps of transition
Maybe  oil drop therapy
a sliver body tan
perhaps followed by new bionic limbs
until one made the ultimate transition
from organic intelligence
into artificial intelligence
Will they still have a heart?
Will they still be smart?

poem of the day  June 4

Everyday
there are
circles that
come and go
Ripe round tornadoes
born of no wind
All the dancers
are of one mold
All trying to find
true love in the
speed of light
Riding floating squares
of bumper cars
they dot the impermanent world
with lines of time
hoping for a glimpse
before the light goes out

poem of the day June 3

Dragged into the dance
the meadow of the Ganesh
has Cowboys circling the
Buddha tree
I keep thinking about
the poor Indians wiped out
by small pock blankets
bad whiskey dreams
Worms eating apples are
unable to ring the old bell
in fear of no trespassing signs
Harmony has taken a hike
and fallen off the hill
so is the story of Jack and Jill

poem of the day June 2

Inside of all
there is a wall
Put up by
the outer skin
Presented by
the life within
Yet even in
this shallow stage
clues can reveal
how we view
My home
Your house
My mice
Your mouse
Far away castles
floating into sea
Where I of we
seeks we of me

poem of the day June 1

This shell of a lifetime
littered with long strokes
will run out of paint
The march of time is not smooth
Sometimes is not the fine
wine on which we dine
Still the gleam in the ice cream
is good for the beast
very able to feed life
into every soul
