poem of the day August 31

The bark of a dog
wanting to go out
before the dawn
Makes for
early morning poems
No light at all
falls on the yard
only dew lingering
in last nights dreams
And I am up in this
twix of time
Half asleep
Half in rhyme

poem of the day August 30

Late sweet corn
is better then
the norm
August silver and gold
on the stands
Four dollars a dozen
An end of season bargain
for something
God eats
everyday
in the summer land of
nirvana
with or without royal butter

poem of the day August 29

The cook
of alabaster
cooked something new
He used marbles
inside his stew
Some were me
Some were you

poem of the day August 28

It is a different world
random acts of kindness
have been replaced
by random acts of cruelty
The battle between good and evil
has drifted toward the dark
I am watching all of it on TV
Everybody is asking WHY
Then it occurs to me
Love must be on vacation
leaving too many dogs
with too much hate on their paws

poem of the day August 27

Can thought travel
without a road?
Can essence permeate
time like perfume?
Can it linger long after
the princess has
left her cage?
"Yes" said the puppeteer
"Ideas can become
raging oceans
able to wipe out
puppet lives
controlled by
nothing except their
own tight stringed emotion"

poem of the day August 26

The dragon fly
did mesmerize
Flying over the farm
in great numbers
Reminding me
of those
Gallant Young Men in
their flying machines
circling full blast
Summer At its best
romantic fever
washing over the meadow
so lucky to b
watching time burst live
in this wild sea

poem of the day August 25

Thunder at dawn
Rumble in the near light
Rain driven by the pulse
of the Lightening whip
Flashes of bright white
illuminate  the ancient maples
planted to guard the farm
No big sun today
to wash over the grey

poem of the day August 24

Green trees
Flowers bloom
Everybody waiting
Time passes
within a season
Innocent summer
still before the fall of change
Yet all flowers are
already churning toward
the seeds of creation
Know the fragile Gift of living
can end at a moment frost

poem of the day August 23

I visited my spider friend again
She was busy weaving a web
I watched her like a voyeur
would watch TV
She had three webs
which was rather industrious
even for an eight armed warrior
This time I ducked
under her spin
Glad she had not invited
me for dinner

poem of the day August 22

Up before the sun
knowing that many
are still sleeping
This poem
is for those early birds
Those birds ready for the worm
Those ready for some peace
The special peace that
comes only with the sunrise
for those lucky to be up in the dawn

poem of the day August 21

Join the band
Blow into the note
Ride the music
Find the boat
Then open the door
Don't worry
about the thinkers
who think
they have thought
of it all
Cause if I think
what you think
Then this connection
of two thoughts
becomes the great perfection for souls
timing their swim
within reach
of the sand filled beach

poem of the day August 20

The size
of Joe Pie
was over my eye
The wild flower meadow
was a huge jungle
Six foot golden rod
Seven foot aster
Nothing was faster
then the wind
swaying over
the waist deep meadow grass
that framed the power
of the large flower
Hour after hour

poem of the day August 19

Ode to the spider
in the barn
who weaves her web
full of harm
Still I feel so bad
I have to break
the  threads that
hold her fragile cake
I often wonder
how the bugs
would taste
if I had not ripped her
web in haste

poem of the day August 18

Water down
dilute the truth
Water up
concentrate delusion
To figure out
the in and out
of this wet breath
One has to ride
the river boat
over rapids
filled with
swimming egos
that are all part
of the rolling river cruise

poem of the day August 17

I am trying to write a poem
but having little luck
All I am doing
is watching my dog
struggling in the middle
of one big itch
Over and Over
she tries try to quell the
internal burning fire
Doesn't Daisy Dog know?
Once is too much
and a thousand
times is not enough
Woof, woof, woof
Oh no!
She has rubbed against me
I think  I am catching her itch

poem of the day August 16

Wings are useful
for lives in the sky
But dreams are safer
cause inside you fly
And when the stars
align with moods
then perfection
has no words
A double rainbow
on the go
The way you like them
firestar I know

poem of the day August 15

A tree full of peaches
in the hot august sun
is a wonderful thing
to feast my eyes upon
Ripe juicy treats
hanging freely
on a giving tree
Peach happy
full leaved beauty
enjoying a summer day
in a kinda wide eyed
fruit covered way

poem of the day August 14

When the life line
is baited
with tempting
treats
wrapped around
some shiny hook
the every fish
swim around
like virgin
butterflies
Innocent
until proven
guilty by strikes
of their own desire

poem of the day August 13

A drop a day
Everyday
of kind
gentle self
persistence
will eventual
wear all your
worries away

poem of the day August 12

A bird with no wings
has a hard time flying
into a long sunset
Yet it is
possible
if one believes
in true love

poem of the day August 11

Before and after
were arguing
twin sides of delusion
“Memories are better”
“Anticipation is better”
“No, No, No
you are wrong”
Both said as they
straddled the Present
who was the only one
living the road

poem of the day August 10

What makes for a tick?
What makes for a tock?
is it as simple as a grandfather clock?
Does time have to travel
to the ends of the earth
for all souls to have
a death and a birth
Or is there something special
we all have inside
that beats every second
and keeps us alive?

poem of the day August 9

Tied to the rail road tracks
another soul is
struggling
in sight of the train
Breaking free
the soul rolls to the left
But the train follows
Off the track
Down the hill
The soul feels
the press of the engine
Then the voice
a red haired woman and a man
Maybe a ghost
call out
“You will
come back as a
second or third rate home builder”
Not the rebirth
the soul was expecting
in the life of dreams

poem of the day August 8

Traffic did not
exist before cars
Yet is a burden to man
The main cause
of road rage
Rubber necking
a perfect word
for the insane highway
So able to
turn a three hour drive
into a six hour journey
to hell
I wonder if the machines
will feel this way
when stuck in
traffic while
driving their driver-less cars?

poem of the day August 7

The round planet
holds a sea
of imagination
Some black good
Some white evil
All stored in
the circles of man
Love
Hate
both ends of
a long line that
left the garden
with the wrong gold

poem of the day August 6

When I enter into caves
I think of waves
Underground passages
that lead to the
under belly world
Where one has
to navigate
dark dreams hiding
inside the deep
crevasses of
their minds

poem of the day August 5

The tension of the spring
depends on the direction
of the wind
Coil up
Coil down
The moment winds
tight into life
Clockwise
Counter clockwise
Future
Past
Struggles of life
in the spiral glass

poem of the day August 4

The sunrise has
to think
of the light
as it
emerges out
of the night
Otherwise
it will be
left parked
in the dark

poem of the day August 3

We are those things
we want to be
Our life is to find them
hiding under
layers of uncertainty
that cover
each heart of flowers
with nothing
but an empty wind
of our own making

poem of the day August 2

Love you
Love me
Love gathered
under the altar tree
Hand made
Man made
Ritual birds
fly over lives
on special days
The dragon circle
winds through
generations
of old
young hugs
Lights
Music
Camera
The moon rises
within the love dance
All hands
All friends gather
at the joyful rise of marriage

poem of the day August 1

So much anticipation
Wedding
Hope
Love
All families
together
For better
For worse
regardless of thirst
All I have to say
is enjoy the day
