poem of the day May 31

The last day of May
Spring is about
to enter another phase
Into the joys of June
moving toward summer haze
So fleeting this time
of year
Each leaf outside
brings growing change
to the range
"So strange
the idea of time"
said the flower to the vine

poem of the day May 30

The old synagogue
came alive with love
The bride and groom stood
in the scared garden
basking with golden dreams
surrounded by family
and friends as their
eyes looked deep
into each other's soul
The old synagogue smiled
happy to be once again
filled with the beauty of eternal love

poem of the day May 29

The light shines
that is all
How I stand
in the light
is up to me
We are forever
riding the divine seesaw
Absorb or Reflect
that is the breath
of free light
as it shines on thee

poem of the day May 28

A floor
A ceiling
The boundaries
of come and go
of home and house
within a room
built by those
who live in
the middle
of the huddle
Two four six eight
HIKE!
embrace the moment
before it's too late

poem of the day May 27

What happens in the future
when we are driving through space?
With so many universes to choose from
will we be able to decide our fate
or will we be lost in space jams
full of dragon flames
clinging to  maps buried in layers of gravity
driven by driver-less space ships
who decide our future one capsule at a time
But most important
while enjoying the sunrise of never ending stars
Will there be space stations
where one can grab some local ethnic alien fair
that is out of this world

poem of the day May 26

The owl calls
at early dawn
Who to Who to Who to Be
it chants like a mantra
able to see in the darkness
able to see in all degrees
Sitting on a perch
in the wilderness
atop a maple tree
the Owl calls once again
Who to Who to Who to Be

poem of the day May 25

The grass has grown
over the imperfections
that dot the meadow
The deer don't care
Nor the bees
who eat flowers
and sweet wild dreams
sprung from the beautiful
deep field of green
Only I with my mind
lost in the ethereal sky
Atop my tractor
riding the waves
cringe at the sound
when rocks hit
my blades

poem of the day May 24

Dinosaurs eat
Pigeons fly
Rats walk
Ants work
Flies buzz
Dogs bark
Men invent
Machines wait
While God watches
with a Rolex
timed with
nothing but
change

poem of the day May 23

Climbing the highest mountain
is a fools quest
for the over driven
for the extreme horses
running from nothing
toward nothing
while trying to prove something
to a dangerous nature
that knows everything
just ask Mt Everest
who eats those driven like candy

poem of the day May 21

How many times
to sit in your chair
discussing the familiar
the cushion folding to your folds
Each and every moment
like water
A day
A night
wearing your groove
Until the old couch
becomes too worn
from sitting your life away

poem of the day May 20

If only the statue in the window
could turn and face the sun
Someone long ago placed
the praying nun
with her back toward the light
For years she watched the dark room
where she was stared at
admired
but mostly ignored
by the faithful
as they looked out the window
to the sun rise
so close but far away
from the face that always prays

poem of the day May 19

Looks like green
the leaves and grass growing
the brown garden disappearing
into rows of sprouts
jumping toward the sun
The birds of morning
open the day
with their pretty calling
Me and my dog
are drinking coffee
on the picnic table
surrounded by green
within our own dream

poem of the day May 18

Everybody was in the boat
going round and round
and round the moat
The flag was flung
hung on the rung
searching for
the chosen one
The castle ride
was far inside
waiting for the change of tide
The anchor had seen better days
within the fold of purple maze
Don't think of God when in the boat
Think of life and how to float

poem of the day May 17

yellow green
is the color
of the run of the maples
as they dash down
New England towns
unfurling their sweet flags
to all and any
with thoughts of spring
in their minds of many

poem of the day May 16

a stumble is not a fall
a stumble is a fall
a maybe is not a no
a maybe is a no
it all depends on what
obstacles are in the way
of each and everyday
How high or low the seesaw goes
begins on how one carries the load

poem of the day May 15

What's in a mind
besides a point of view?
Is the game
still the same?
Good and Evil heroes
of the soul
battling for the whole?
Is there light  dark?
Is there dark  light?
Is there right wrong
Is there wrong right?
Remember God cares where the wind blows
only when wearing cloths

poem of the day May 14

It is a long time from a star
to a planet from afar
Just ask Mona Lisa who lives in Paris
while her lover slip slides away
Two Grosbeaks at the  feeder
wore red chests to the theater
but neither could help Mona Lisa get her way

poem of the day May 13

A thousand foot steps
over and over
on the same virgin grass
Each step like water
wearing away a path
to a somewhere
that was once
just a meadow in
the wilderness of nowhere

poem of the day May 12

There's the old point of view
somewhere inside
Building up pressure
with the same pattern
for the same door
that opens
to the same place
no matter the face
Remember it is
only you who
brings your lava
to the zoo

poem of the day May 11

How  quick a meadow
becomes a forest
I am walking New England fields
watching poplar and pine
emerge in the blink of an eye
covering the toil of generations
until the only reminders left
are the stone walls
still marked by the sweat of man

poem of the day

Mercury looked so tiny
as a shadow across the sun
reminding me of a fly on the moon
lost in thought
Trying to decide
whether to be retrograde
or whether to be not

poem of the day May 9

When does a seed
become a plant?
I could not say as I watched
my garden day after day
until finally the peas broke ground
Somewhere over a rainbow
near the edge of magic

poem of the day May 8

I'm a human being
Your a human being
We are both in the realm of being
seeing
peeing
fleeing
in the same universe
distinguished
into individuals
only by the faults of our emotions
Time to understand the train
as it leaves the brain

poem of the day May 7

It is my grandmother's birthday today
I barely remember her
She died when I was three
My only memory of her
is a fleeting  moment
I relive from the picture she holds me in
Ada May taught school on the lower east side
for over 57 years
and walked to the train
in the rough streets
unafraid with safe passage
granted by hoodlums
earned one book at a time
She loved spring full of flowers
and afternoon tea
Her only grandson was me

poem of the day May 6

Three deer
Two squirrels
Four turkeys
One hawk on the wire
A salamander under the log
A fox in the field
Five frogs in the pond
Robins with worms
And a big Raccoon walking the road
Just another day in the country
looking for monkeys
All before the rooster
drinks tea with the crows

poem of the day May 5

Drizzle for another day
sets the sky alive with grey
I see the buds on the maple tree
opening in the dull fog
over by the pond of frogs
and I remember their
call on the night before
Color is within the hue
the lens of morning
life and you

the poem of the day May 4

The journey toward well being
does not involve any travel
No golden train to Emerald City
Only the song inside
to guide the soul through paths
lined with familiar hell
The five sounds are needed
to clear the junk of lifetimes
in order find the well of a being

poem of the day May 3

"Krow, Krow, Krow"
the crows squawked to the lazy
as they flew over the junk
filled farm full of generations
By one of the composting cars
a group of humans huddled
around some wonder bread
scratching lottery tickets
"Shut up your crows." They all shouted
"Can't you see we're working

poem of the day May 2

"I'll trade you
a lucky penny
for a four leaf clover"
Wish shouted to Hope
as their out of control train
raced down the mountain
toward its own destiny

poem of the day May 1

Still morning
First of May
No wind
Everything is silent
The birds
The bees
The trees
Even the dogs
Easy to quiet the mind
to find some peace
in this Sunday time
