poem of the day October 31

The simple touch of touch
physical mental spiritual
the need to receive the intertwine
of belonging to life
the simple note
the full embrace
the curl of a cat
the wag of a dog
the bliss of being wanted
wanting to taste the divine
wanting experience the sublime
I see the imperfect world
made perfect by the warm
touch of merging love
open arms of lovely hugs

poem of the day October 30

The same but different
different but the same
The equation of life with time
Universal moments of ordinary change
Frozen water on a melted highway
Ice riding on the river
possibilities separated only by a few degrees
I watch all boats very carefully for swimming souls that could be me

poem of the day October 29

The direction  of all destiny
is up to down, left to right
like a wind in a land of more or less
The depth of a person's inner soul
is marked by the flowing water within
not channeled by where one swims
Yet old light in a tunnel does not guarantee
the opening of a very natural destiny
It all depends on a place in line
and if your dreams could be my mind

poem of the day October 28

a simple pleasure
of sleeping late
catching up on
a river of dreams
awakening to lights
that came before
trying to remember
who entered my door?

poem of the day October 27

The whiteness of the virgin snow
upon the autumn landscape
looked out of place for October
Unexpected drops on a world of color
covering dead leaves and flowers
Would be very bittersweet poignant
if not for little lost lilies spreading hate
out of the mouth of the whited torch leader

poem of the day October 26

Change happens constantly
whether one is ready or not
conscious or unconscious
very fast or very slow
reminding me of mountains
that grow out of the earth
big long strong tall
but eventually melt
like a huge ball of wax
into new surroundings
filling the valley below
one day at a time

poem of the day October 25

A lingering
awaiting
the twix
of times
Someplace
between
sleep and soul
Dreaming of
morning light
like rainbows full of endless love
trying to reach each other
in the slip of far away ships

poem of the day October 24

Around
Around
the circle large
riding the wibbly womb
on a wobbly rim
full of everything
but nothingness
The constant pressure
of gravity pushing
down on the trodden
filling them with darts of ideas
that puff out of big clouds
usually used for canning fish
not driving the iron ship off course
with a wiggle waggle pushed from the lips of time

poem of the day October 21

"How to balance
the human stalk
as it walks its way
toward the boarder
depends on the morality
from which they are made"
God said to the next generation of  angels
trying to help the poor souls consumed by love and hate
All were sad that life had evolved way beyond fate and mate

poem of the day October 22

A long way in miles
Many steps of perfection
The old dog sits on the porch
waiting for new arrivals
wondering who will be first
to bring the bone shoes
fresh from another lifetime
in which to walk the seven seas

poem of the day October 21

Give the branded better branding
to compete against tattoos
make them art works of self expression
instead of punishment by public humiliation
Though they look so very similar upon the lovely skin
one is a map of magic meaningful journeys
while the other IDs one marked of sin
But for the casual observer who stares at both cheeks
it is hard to tell whose living hell
from those who're super chic
The only one that can tell the difference of the painted onion ball
is the one who wears the marks that cover their inner soul

poem of the day October 20

a still morning
no sound to the light
I wonder what the last
of the leaves think about
as they wait for a wind
to ride out their Karma
like a proud flag wavering
before a useless dead war

poem of the day October 19

I saw an eagle
on a branch
in the pouring rain
puffed out feathers
making the bird look
like a white mink coat
Warm and stoic
the bird stared
at each passing car
locking eyes with
those that question
the direction of freedom

poem of the day October 18

To go through the motions
without true understanding
allows indecision to creep
into each and every deep joint
forcing other muscles to react
to the circling fear of words
as the ball flies over the long net
like a drone from someone else's mind

poem of the day October 17

the simplicity
of splitting wood
so basic human
man with maul
meets grain of wood
the test of endurance
one swing at a time
until the pile grows
into winter's stove

poem of the day October 16

a fragile flower
before a frost
appears like
a poignant dove
full of lost summer
spreading everyday wings
unaware that fate
is just a matter
of a few degrees
or a selfish god like me
who covers the cold
with a warm blanket
not for the soul of the flower
but for the sleeping beauty I see

poem of the day October 15

Where one floats
in the ocean
depends upon the tides
Where one floats on
their journey depends upon the lies
A false root clings to obsession
like a smiling mirror's cloud
A true root finds the truth
beneath layers of golden fog
The only way to know
how one really truly floats
is to jump into a bottomless sea
away from every boat

poem of the day October 14

Inside the human mountain
is a secret domain
Some no name red river
beating some deep safe place
where the sun
stands with wisdom
balanced better then unwise men
wearing long robes able to fool many mountains
but not an open heart hidden within

poem of the day October 13

There is a spider
living in my kitchen
I see it sometimes
when I sweep the floor
It looks so perfect
like a morning reflection
walking over the wood
with not a care in the world
Eight arms of perfect perfection

Poem of the day October 12

The wind was warm
from the North East
bringing new tides
sailing true on old boats
full of inner riches
that rise and fall
on the breath of far away souls
somewhere on the road toward immortality

Thursday, October 11, 2018

poem of the day October 11

A star filled night
the Big Dipper very bright
pointing but not quite right
at the North Star that sits
a little off center so it can view
the Milky Way better then me
even better then you

poem of the day October 10

The leaves of fall
turning like pages
A kaleidoscope of color
waiting for the wind
in which to fly
soaring above time
with no thoughts
about anything
but the fun of free falling

poem of the day October 9

The emotional zone
measures the PH of humanity
The base acid line of life
Within this realm
in the sea of suffering
The tidal tide of fearful tribes
where the fuel needed for hate
lingers in small white landing strips
easily manipulated
by the evil wizard turning
Hope into fear
Glad into sad
Good into bad
with or without the god of beer

poem of the day October 8

The end
The beginning
The close
The open
The breath
of heartbeats
One after another
Year after year
until water
becomes air
mixing together
to sing the simple
song of souls

poem of the day October 7

a pebble dropped into a pool
makes ripple like circle waves
that spiral out into new frontiers
changing ideas with or without
a long boat in which to reach the shore

Saturday, October 6, 2018

poem of the day October 6

cold fog dawn
dark still time
new world opens
red on the east ring
upside down fresh
first whiffs of new light

poem of the day October 5

Turn quick the trees
Get us out of black and white
Release some color into the stagnant air
Let it float down with a big sunny smile
so we can remember the beauty of nature
often lost in the ugliness of raging men

poem of the day October 4

An open I
with a closed mind
is tunnel vision
Where the eye
of a lens sees
only what your
camera wants to film
Gone are the days
of milk and honey

poem of the day October 3

Drifting along
in the emotional world
trying to stay clear
of the electric fog
that covers life like
a wet blanket seeping
with constant negativity
Meaningful words drift
with misguided meaning
born from the mouth
of saviors only worried about

the power of their little boy skin

poem of the day October 2

The desire to want
The conscience of need
went for a walk
among the old weeds
There on the ground
was a diamond blue eye
the rarest temptation
that falls from the sky
The mind of the walker
filled with wanting approached
the diamond blue flame
that glittered with smoke
The desire was open
when the conscience of need
poked its head out of the weeds
Yes if you do
No if you don't
the battle the struggle
began to take sides
within the temple that knows
each day of our lives

poem of the day October 1

A hop step into another month
Leaves turning autumn boundaries
The sun hangs lower over the horizon
rushing fast toward towards stillness
Still time to gather fire wood
The  many ants are plenty busy

too busy to catch the fleeting rabbit
