poem of the day February 28

The shooting star
seemed so sad
streaking across the dark sky
in search of a mate
I hope the soul it touches is able
to reflect back the light

poem of the day February 27

My mother said
Happiness is always within you
All you have to do is grow the seed
Here is her creed:
Think about the most
amazing wonderful thing
you have ever done
Remember that best day
with your biggest inner smile
Let it bloom inside you
Realize that your happiness
is self contagious
very self replicating
very repairing
and always there for you
So what are you waiting for?
It is time to begin
Open your happy door
and let well being in

poem of the day February 26

Man made or natural?
The whole coast is
White sand
Blue water
Coconut palms
and sunshine
Yet most parts are full
of floating human garbage
I am contemplating this question
while walking on a pristine cleaned beach
where carefully positioned bungalows
by famous architects merge
effortlessly into the tides
"This is so pristine and natural"
I shout out to the waves
I am surprised when a hermit crab answers me
"Are you sure this is the natural part of the sea?"

poem of the day February 25

A basket of fruit
is  more beautiful then
an impressionistic painting
Sweet dabbles of color merged from all over the rainbow
Where names like Dragon, Passion
bring a tangible hue
to every brush stroke of perfection
I take a small palate knife
to this simple masterpiece and cut
into a green-orange papaya that turns
deep red delicious
surprising me
with a very deep sensuality
only found in the secret heart of hidden lovers

poem of the day February 24

The ants live here
I am the guest
yet they are the ones
considered the pest
All day long
they clean up my mess
While poison is sprayed
all over their nests

poem of the day February 23

Far away
with nothing
but time
I watch
the tourists
drink their wine
The  flow of life
begins to focus
as I sit and stare
at bad tattoos
from everywhere
A pretty girl
An ugly man
talk together
near the sand
I wonder what is within
their minds
as they sip some life
off the vine
Random selfies
with plastered smiled
are like lemmings
in the final hour
But mostly I think
at the marvel of life
the riches we see

poem of the day February 21

Drifting
Lost
Not tied
to anchor
The boat
floats on
the whims
of waves
poem of the day February 20

Clouds on mountains
Blue sky above
The green of an orchard
reflects the hidden well
of the planted valley
I think I see the fruit
within their eyes

poem of the day February 20

The sights of a waking city
as seen from a tall hotel
Stray dogs on the prowl
Fast cars filling the road
The sun has lite the skyline
into an early understanding
The sprawl of humanity
is like an open window
full of morning surprises
poem of the day February 19

Yesterday I ate
Ten prawns
Two squids
One fish
Some red ant eggs
A piece of chicken
A pork chop
Three oysters
A plate of clams
Rock lobster in bean paste
And I feel great
mostly because I
did not eat the
barbecued field rat
rubbed in chili

poem of the day February 18

In the ruins of old Buddhas
walking through run down Stupas
reminding me of space ships
In the light of current ignorance
I am wondering if enlightenment
has left the Earth and headed toward Mars

poem of the day February 17

On the floating market
in a long tired channel
full of tourist boats and
busy hustling vendors
I watch a monitor lizard
sunning itself along a rusty pier
just living everyday life
unaware that I am here

poem of the day February 16

Fish in a fish tank
Small world of life
I see the schools
swimming in circles
Not much different
then traffic jams
on a crowded highway
I wonder what we look like
to aliens from outer space
poem of the day February 15

A fleeting moment
of crowded humanity
is reflected by the  eyes
of many sleeping souls
The intimacy of the journey
speaks silently as hearts
beat somewhere within
this flying caravan so
high in the wild sky

poem of the day February 14

Walking within
the boundaries
of ordinary
is difficult
if one's mind
is full of ideas
found only
on the other side
of the yellow lines
poem of the day February 13

Watching snow
Wet cold ice flowing
through an hour glass
I feel the pull of water
hiding somewhere
within the power
of the hidden moon

poem of the day February 12

When climbing toward  heaven
All travelers have to be very careful
in picking the right amount of mountain
The trick is to know the difference
between an old peak and a young volcano

poem of the day February 11

Abstraction
with a mind
full of wonderful ideas
can not relieve
the itch on
the tip of your nose
For that you
will need some
kind of primal action
to insure immediate satisfaction

poem of the day February 8

Gods Go Do
Dogs Do Go
both contain
words that flow
But when I have
to think it through
Should I Go Do
or just Do Go?
If anybody knows
please let me know

poem of the day February 7

A long way away
somewhere floating
on a mind full of ideas
a dream opens a direction
sublime green slime mixing
reality with fantasy in a box
made of everyday clay

poem of the day February 6

Watching the dawn
is like riding the bus
in the beginning of a breath
Where fresh light waves
all the way from the sun
break over the shadowed soul
of many a night time survivor

poem of the day February 5

Seeds of destruction
were planted in
well dug holes
full of good intentions
They were mistaken
for golden dreams
promising happiness
and watered with
hopeful lavish love
At first I felt sorry
for the seeds that
did not grow
But that was only until
I saw their orange war like glow

poem of the day February 4

First light thru trees
Trees in front of light
Somewhere there
are shadows  but
I can not yet tell
new day from old night

poem of the day February 3

Watch
Watch
Watch the boat
lost within a dream
Staringly
Staringly
Staringly
Staringly life is now the screen

poem of the day February 2

They came armed
with a dozen poems
Some were short
Some were long
Some were true
Some were false
All made up by
poets of course
They faced the crowd
with just these words
The angry mob
became a herd
The poems rang true
for many a one
but were no match
for the will of guns

poem of the day February 1

With an eye of understanding
to guide a boat of fate
a soul starts down the river
in a very empty plate
Along the way the water
tempts the captain's hand
as rocks appear full of fear
thrown by sinners on the land
And yet the boat does travel
on songs within the mind
to end up on a distant shore
somewhere short of time
