poem of the day July 31

Flowers in a vase
best capture
the fleeting
poignancy of beauty
The perfection of petals
in full bloom
move all beating hearts
toward fragile happiness

poem of the day July 30

Humid morning
full of stale air
time lingering in nothingness
everything is so quiet
the only sound
is happy cat
purring by my feet

poem of the day July 29

Many small tents
fit into a large tent
so says nirvana
as she approached
the long angry mob
It wasn't long before
she realized
there were way too many
small tents with long poles
so high it was impossible
for most small tents to even fit in

poem of the day July

Is it possible to share time
as it passes over the rainbow?
Does everybody see
the full blown colors of temptation
dropping deep inside of imagination?
Or is it too fleeting for any type
of serious contemplation?
Perhaps the secret lies clouded
by a gentle eternal  like wind
blowing over the clock of human souls
Tick full of folly
Tock full of whim
Tick full of love
Tock full of sin

poem of the day July 27

For a log jam
there has to be
a lot of logs
out of control
racing down the river
at the same time
Like hungry sharks
feeding in a
cannibalistic orgy
Yet the same amount of logs
tied together
organized into a raft
would float calmly upon
the very currents
avoiding the tangled confusion
of unpredictable desire

poem of the day July 26

The earth revolved
around the moon
The sun was somewhere
in a forgotten space
shining between fog and mist
lost inside a salted mind
Where the only sign
was creeping light  from another time

poem of the day July 25

A surprising
amount of time
is wasted just
staring at a clock
Yet time seems to pass
so slowly that nobody
even notices until it is too late

poem of the day July 24

sending
receiving
open
close
give
take
appear
disappear
all part of
interdependence
found within the door
of all souls

poem of the day July 23

The idea of water
falling from a parched sky
dropping out of clouds
like pearly diamonds
seems like wet dreams
full of happy tears
until it rains too much

poem of the day July 22

The crickets are coming
The crickets are coming
Small armies invading summer
with beautiful melodies
Swarming the meadows and fields
Good luck for open souls
Good food for all birds

poem of the day July 21

Small poem
on a hot day
Conserve the words
Too much heat
outside to begin
Need the river
to jump right in

poem of the day July 20

It was the future
and everybody had a tail
That was the shocking report from
the first ever time travelers
As you can imagine the news of everyone
having a tail only a 150 years into the future was stunning
How could this evolutionary change happen?
That was the question all wanted answered
It came as a surprise
when it was revealed
that in about the year 2036
growing a prehensile tail had  became
a serious obsession for genome body modifiers
From there it wasn't long before the military and finally the whole world
realized the potential of having a working tail
By the year 2096 the gene
was spliced  into everyone's DNA
so any baby born after that date would
genetically automatically grow a tail
"Wow" is all I can say having just heard this unbelievable news
How will humanity handle the rise of tail fashion?

poem of the day July 19

The stillness
of a humid
July morning
is surrounded by
a fullness only
found in the air
of lazy summer heat

poem of the day July 18

I just noticed
There is a tree in my garden
A five foot tree that just appeared out of nowhere
up near the fence where the weeds grow high
The tree must have been there for a couple of years
hiding in plain sight until one day it got to big to hide
Now the gardener ME has noticed it and has to play god

poem of the day July 17

To divide
To separate
To keep souls apart
by spewing hate
is part of the big plan
The grand plan of little men
Otherwise unconditional love
in long boats merging over the river
will become too strong and clear
for the little men who must control with fear

poem of the day July 16

Everything is so
out of control green
Green grass
Green leaves
Green hills
Green valleys
All shades of green
are still expanding into summer
The farm is growing like green wild witch hair
My only hope is that my non green lawn mower starts

poem of the day July 15

How deep to dive
depends on fear
How far would you
travel in strange waters
known as the abyss?
poem of the day July 14

The slap of waves on Island rock
Sky blue merging with navy swells
A lone sailboat rides  big water
all the way from a wishing well
I see the vastness inside out
A dream perhaps beneath some sea
poem of the day July 13

Praying and Preying
have nothing in common
But a homophone
Yet sound so much the same
in this error of fake news
that I think some churches
have confused them

poem of the day July 12

Merging
instead
of conflicting
Merging
instead
of fighting
Merging
with love
into everyone
How different
the world will be
when you are me

poem of the day July 11

I hear that Daniel Boone
owned a very silver spoon
which he carried in his raccoon hat
to remind him of his early youth
before he killed the wild cat
I heard he used it everyday
to eat up all the golden porridge
found somewhere deep down the road
well inside the virgin forest

poem of the day July 10

The fleeting sounds of singing song birds
remind me of the impermanence of life
The familiar cords well played by everyday illusion
are soon regulated to memory and buried in the woodshed

poem of the day July 9

Drifting
No root
Floating
on seaweed
to another
delusion
No real time
Such is
the life
of  a hermit crab

poem of the day July 8

Age creeps up
on vines grown
from time long ago
Seed to seed
the early years
blow by with
the anticipation
of the future
Then the tide slacks
with waters full
of never ending flowers
that eventually grow stagnant
in the routine of immorality
Only when the winds blows
are we reminded of
the universal march of all things living

poem of the day July 7

If a hug brings
a certain instantaneous
universal spontaneous happiness
Why are we not hugging all the time?

Saturday, July 6, 2019

poem of the day July 6

Baby turkeys
running wild
The lone fox
stalks the same meadow
I watch from the window
wondering about  destiny

poem of the day July 5

Change the record
Go back
Go forward
But be careful
not to scratch your soul

poem of the day July 4

The tanks are rolling into
the streets of the capital
on this Forth Of July
No it is not a foreign invasion
but rather a perversion of power
with an egotistical desire to brand freedom

poem of the day July 3

Deep and Shallow
are almost never able to meet
Unable to open any real door
like two seas separated
by mindless desert
both living life on
opposite sides of fantasy
It would take a miracle boat
and a great flood to overcome
the ignorance of the moat

poem of the day July 2

A first blueberry emerges
as summer proceeds like time
More dots of deliciousness
hover in anticipation
I just hope I get some before the bears

poem of the day July 1

A puzzle missing a piece
A team short a player
Failure or success
depends on the direction
on the difference of action or reaction
