poem of the day February 29

The atmosphere
appeared very clear
as the red streaked
across the sky
I was outside cold
with my barking dogs
thinking about the tides
How come and go
is within every flow
where waves do begin
perhaps you've seen
this glimpse  of dreams
as you look out deep within

poem of the day February 28

Fear is
contagious
An irrational
itch of hysteria
fueled by panic
sweeps across
all of humanity
Consuming even
the most confident
I heard a doctor say
on national TV that we
should no longer hug
or shake hands to avoid
unwanted human contact
I fear if we are not careful
the seeds of love will die

poem of the day February 27

Train like rain
drops are wheels
rolling over a tin roof
I am the in house caboose
waiting for the whistle of light
to welcome another engine home
somewhere between night and dawn

poem of the day February 26

Just a dog
on a cat walk
about to invent
the enlightenment chamber
Where new tricks can
be taught to
old souls just
by hanging hope
on long fish lines
baited in strange seas
able to catch the light
within your knees

poem of the day February 25

Something sad
about driving
by a junk yard
Seeing tired cars
lined up like
rusty sardines
I often muse
about the roads
they traveled
when shiny and young
with a full tank of gas

poem of the day February 24

The drip
melt, mix
hot sun
cold snow
small streams
muddy road
Warm smiles
as blue jay wings
fly over Sunday afternoon

poem of the day February 23

Cold sun
cold friends
cold food
Warm sun
warm friends
warm food
Hot sun
hot friends
hot food
Goldilocks
will have
to choose
which is right
for every mood

poem of the day February 21

An old door
with well
oiled hinges
opens and closes
on the ghosts
of Faneuil Hall
Silent like
a good sentry
keeping secrets
I can only imagine
poem of the day February 20

I was feeling
like a lover
on a Saturday
Somewhere in
the alcohol
Somewhere
in the fray
Thinking of
tomorrow
and all its
fantasies
Like what it means
inside a dream
when the music
starts to play
poem of the day February 22

Peaceful light
Merging vapors
Transitioning
A slow mixing
All you need
is to add a little
bit of silent time

poem of the day February 19

A long drive
into a old city
Rain like tears
Traffic full of hate
No time for herb tea
I need a shot of good coffee

poem of the day February 18

Make the mark in pencil
if you have a paper dream
Make the mark in perma-pen
if your sure about the scene
A walk with frozen footprints
sticks out like lovers at the zoo
What is what and What is not
will decide the mark we view

poem of the day February 17

The remembrance
of a photograph
somewhere found
within the past
Some snapshot
taken long ago
surfaces in an
old desk drawer
reminding those
of a well lived life

poem of thee day February 16

Every time
I eat a bowl of
clam chowder
I am consumed
with a strange
wild premonition
I just know that
some day when
the stars align
I will find a pearl
in a pack of
oyster crackers

poem of the day February 15

I was reading
about the
insect plague
How it  will be
unstoppable
How the little bugs
can devour a field
in less then 30 seconds
It has me
very worried
very nervous
I am left with
an uneasy feeling
wondering
If I'll have
to smoke
the locus
if the locus
eats my pot?

poem of the day February 14

I see some
angel wings
may be needed
to fly over all my
inner contradictions

poem of the day February 13

If polished too much
the shine cuts deep
into the surface
revealing the shadow
beneath the shallow
Breaking down the very
thin boundary of vanity
one uses if caught up
in the surface world of
unattainable compulsive
fleeting transitory perfection

poem of the day February 11

Beauty
is wherever
you are
Yet often
the near
is neglected
to seek
the far
Which
reminds me
I wish I had
a better car
to get me
to a greener yard

poem of the day February 12

The idea of rain
The idea of sun
Do they spring
from inside out?
from outside in?
How you feel
from your eyes
to your heels?
Is the day night?
Is the night day?
I think your inner
outer hemisphere
will whether your weather clear

poem of the day February 10

A drift of snow
many degrees
away from water
helped by night wind
gathers like waiting sand
along meadow fences
holding some clues
of the still far away summer

poem of the day February 8

What hands
can determine
the fate of desire?
Will they clap
like songs of
a certain choir?
Are the lines
well drawn  from
karmic applause
to ring those bells
the future foretold
poem of the day February 9

The night
was lighter
then early dawn
The round moon
on the not so
virgin snow
enhanced the glow
Allowing sleeping
groundhogs like me
to dreams of shadows
way beyond spring

poem of the day February 7

The war ignored
signs of peace
Would not allow
good flowers to grow
Instead worshiped
idols of strength
I saw them clap
the back of bombs
to kiss the arms of
those who harm

poem of the day February 6

Dark and snowing
a strange ghostly
emerging zombie light
hangs over the meadow
like thick fresh heavy cream
sitting atop a blackened Sunday

poem of the day February 5

Something about
the power of suggestion
makes me want to
open a closed door
The mere influence
of ideas are enough
to change direction
Yet unfortunately
sometimes long boats
full of deaf dinosaurs sink
unable to hear the wisdom

of simply said sounds

poem of the day February 4

Can you remember
a time before time?
Some deep hint
of nothingness
where a timeless
drip fills an already
filled deep well ocean
I hear somewhere between
mortality and immortality
those hands come to life
but is not everlasting
only a dream full of tics and toks

poem of the day February 3

A blunder
of thunder
is full of
powerful
delusion
able to
knock the luck
out of  a wishing well

Sunday, February 2, 2020

poem of the day February 2

A long run
on a small
over used planet
leaves rutted footprints
full of precedence
Ideas worn into
the landscape
by the coming and going
of busy little worms digging
deep holes into the tendencies of life

poem of the day February 1

Rabbit day
but no rabbit
Dessert but
no cake
Motion but
no motion men
The world is full
of anticipation
I see it in every
promise broken
