 poem of the day

Cold morning
Very still
Green leaves
Yellow flowers
Shivering birds
Everybody
waiting for
a new rain
full of raw wet
Not a great day
for the end of May

poem of the day May 30

Ho to find
common ground
The universal thread
within us all
Air Water Food
The big three
needed by everyone
for life in the seven seas
All boats start as innocents babes
rudderless until piloted by experiences
by who touch us
by who we touch
Navigated mostly by fear anger
we land somewhere familiar
to form tribes of existence
Small bands of like minded
bonded by the habits of belonging
where we build walls of ignorance
Islands that bring out the guardian power of hate
How to break this unknowing  spiraling cycle
where everybody has lost the common ground?
Now that is a question beyond Dogs and Gods
Where the only answer can come from a swimming Cat

poem of the day May 29

Some touch
comes from
far away
able to open
long closed doors
all without having
touched a single key

poem of the day May 28

I am just a cactus of the desert
living on a highway near LA
You drive by me every morning
and evening you go the other way
You often comment on my beauty
snap a picture of how beautiful I be
and then  go home to your well watered lawns
and post me on for all the world to see
You get many feel good like comments
How marvelous an indigenous plant must be
to thrive on the side of some old dusty ride
so close to the center of LA

but did you know
I can grow anywhere
in LA with very little care
so plant me in your yard
for a world more naturally

poem of the day May 27

Start of a day
begins with very
soft bird songs
Last night's rain
was just enough
to wet the moon
What's left of
the sweet water
has settled out
of the atmosphere
into an open earth
This strange silent
still waking dawn
becomes so quiet
I am almost able to hear
the sound of drinking trees

poem of the day May 26

A tide of tired ideas
tumbled back onto
a bank of sand
Bringing with it
lots of water
from past confusions
It was hard for
new sea fleas
to bite into the
soul of old salty dogs
even though
each passing wave
do not change direction

poem of the day May 25

Who guards
the guardians?
Who decides
who is incharge?
Is it survival of
the fittest?
the greediest?
Is it the one
with the most guns
with the most money
with the most vanity
Can this unstable desire
for power be overcome?
Is it folly to think
love might ever run the world
for no reason over than love

poem of the day May 24

Deer and Turkey
hanging together
in a meadow field
next to each other
eating happily away
Made me believe
for a few minutes
it is possible
to get along
with those of
a different fur feather
in the same land
living their own customs
without trying to
eat each others mind

poem of the day May 23

A fine light spills
into a tired night
A simple rise of
early morning rays
spread quick like
deep calm breaths
for all those watching
I see many eager eyes
awakening from darkness

poem of the day May 22

Slippery stones
skipping on the river
slipping into the sea
Watering the world
like a wet coat
of clear varnish
Simple slippery
slipping stones
skipping past me

poem of the day May 21

A part of everybody
is there in full view
Another part is hidden
as people often do
Both sides of the mirror
reflect the shinny soul
Where one and one
is not as fun
as living life as whole

Poem of the day May 20

It is amazing
how the same
old experts
seem to always
get things wrong
Yet there they are
once again on the airwaves
spouting opinions
as if they were
god's truths
Why people believe
these talking heads
with no clue of the future
is a  big mystery in need of something
more profound like flipping a coin
to see if the world is round

poem of the day May 19

The bridge
was either
Too far
Too short
depending
on which
side of the
alter one
lived on
Eventually
all decided
two islands
were better
than one
So the bridge
was torn down
and the only
way left to
cross the sea
were small boats
with little room
for anything in common

poem of the day May 18

Blackbirds
on the river
sitting proud
I see them
atop water stones
currents all around
Makes me happy
to know I am not
the only one
watching the river flow

poem of the day May 17

The Milky Way
has way too
many stars
too far away
moving too fast
Making it hard
to know which
stars really
have wishes
able to wish on

poem of the day May 16

A leaf or two
begins to stir
as wind arises
from not know where
But just as quick
the leaf be still
as wind dissolves
all signs of stir

poem of the day May 15

Ritual abound
from morning joe
to marriage Yes I do
Ceremonies repeat
strange phenomenons
hard to complete
Familiar circles  grown out of
a collective need
bind us to the ancient past
with glue like scripts
As I muse I am
getting dressed
to go to a funeral
the ultimate human ritual
A play of poignant sadness
funneled in the rites of sacred grace
in a service long grown from a solemn place

poem of the day May 14

The masks are coming off
time to be like everyone else
No clinging to fear
No rage of injustice
The dueling strip-off
To mask or Not to mask
from Jesse James
to Frankenstein
all are out
or left behind
Is living in a post mask world
just another pitcher's curve
or the same old fastball hitting life
where the past comes back to bite

poem of the day May 13

Leaves hang still on
a sun sweet maple
I see the light and shadow
as they follow each other
like a game of hide and seek

poem of the day May 12

A patch of growing abandonment
ancient bridges on a broken highway
I see a landscape of tired old ghosts
unable to rally their founding constitution
Tyrants now grow out of decay
like creeping trolls poisoning ivy
Not enough willingness to stop this madness
Misplaced morals and big money propaganda
flood the endless air with misinformation  24/7
a bad combination able to control  inner righteousness
I fear Our house is full of everything possible except democracy

poem of the day May 11

Bubbles up
from ocean
Rain down
from sky
The mixing
of two worlds
full of each other's
every possibilities
I feel this ultimate
alchemy enter
into sky lake
thick and thin
for fate within

poem of the day May 10

Water across
a landed shore
Empty full
of suggestions
Thoughts come
in void out
Waves influence
rock and sand
Swing the soul
open closed
Toss of sea
makes no difference
in the eye of existence

poem of the day May 9

I am missing
my mother today
The womb of
all human existence
Our force of life
often taken for granted
in karma so planted
Keeper of gates
both heaven and hell
a mother's love is
the essence well
And even though
her flesh has passed
I remember that feeling
her unconditional lasts

poem of the day May 8

Trying to think of
all the simple patterns
that come and go
every single day
Patterns beyond
our human control
Patterns we forget
from night to day
Morning sun
tracks across the sky
Hours change
Waves in the sea
Night seeps in
like evening tea
where these simple patterns
get covered by big TV
so far away from reality

poem of the day May 7

Up and Down
all pistons pump
the tube of life
Some blood
Some bone
One mind
at a time
Open door Open
until the void
is filled outside In
from thoughts
close and far
Which is good
Which is sin
depends on where
the car has been

poem of the day May 6

The black was
not the darkest
The light was
not so clear
The fog of night
confused the life
until the dreams appeared
Then thoughts began open
the soul it did receive
all the views
inside the tubes
of everyone we be

poem of the day May 5

After hard rain
still morning
quietly emerges
Young green
Light gray
No wind
just some flowers
full of thought

poem of the day May 4

The farm
welcomed me
from my travels
in the big country
Surrounding me
with a colorful
bouquet  of
spring blooms
that don't last very long
Yellow forsythia
Blue ajuga
White shades
of many headed daffodils
all stood on the hill
as other flowers
like a pungent dream
hung over the still air
mixing the scents
of Magnolia Peach
and Hyacinth
I have to say it made me warm
to have this great welcome home

poem of the day May 3

A family of racoons
run over by man
Mother and three babies
All dead crossing
the highway
Divine karma?
Escapable karma?
Makes no difference
to hungry vultures
circling above

poem of the day May 3

While driving through Ohio
for many many miles
I spotted a billboard:
JESUS LOVES ALL
that night while I was sleeping
I came upon a meeting
God was talking to his very righteous fold
God said to all those gathered
there is a very serious matter
that is part of every human soul
From Bigot to Humanitarian
From Buddhist to Muslim
From Christian to Jew
From Pagan to Atheist
God told everyone he knew
He said "I want everyone to remember
my son Jesus was transgender
and loved each and every part of you"

poem of the day May 1

In the heartland
rich black dirt
big green tractors
plowing oceans
of flat fields
Small clusters
of shade trees
about to spring leaf
surround farms
that appear as
islands allowing me
a quick glimpse
into the homes
of midwest farmers
