poem of the day March 31

All those rocks
lined up in a row
formed stone walls
all over New England
I have to say
what a clever way
for the hard working farmers
who cleared all those fields
to hide all those stones
for many generations
in beautiful plain sight

poem of the day March 30

There is light
like candles
that flick in
the wind
There is light
like pearls
the shine
forth within
So many suns
able to warm
So many souls
A  fine collection
of rainbows to
brighten the world

poem of the day March 29

If the wind
at your back
pushes too hard
over the waves
of everyday life
Then one must
stand rooted
in the grand sea
like fine seaweed
at a heavenly ball

poem of the day March 28

At first look
every morning
The same
but different
inside and out
Yet each
new morning
Day after day
Year after year
the seemingly
imperceptible change
becomes profound

poem of the day March 27

I had a long conversation
with a big spring crow
I was busy boiling maple
when it flew to the big ash
and started a deep cawing
I'm not sure what the
old corvid  was saying
but after a while
I answered back
faking my best crow
then the bird flew off
It was sort of Zen

poem of the day March 26 The mourning doves

An army of mourning doves
gathered in the meadow
They were waving
signs of peace
as they faced East

poem of the day March 25

How long
does it take
for a new path
to grow into
a familiar road
One where
your shoes
just know
the right
way home

poem of the day March 24

a soft freezing rain
grew into dawn
a fine primordial day
a tide like day
slapping poles
between two shores
that edge of seasons
lapping at change

poem of the day March 23

The slow swell
of returning buds
The energy
emerging
from within
Sun and moon
Day and night
The warm cold
cycle runs
up and down
awaking trees
with the rush
of  spring kisses

poem of the day March 22

The sog of
a sloppy hill
still fresh with
melt of snow
Made for
messy footprints
on the slope below
I walked along
the edge of spring
carefully not
to slip or fall
but the ground
wasn't very sound
and I fell after all

poem of the day March 21

More of less
Less of more
Open close
The circle door
All eyes scan
These two demands
fish to fowl
sea and land

poem of the day March 20

The sad image
of an old tree
on the road
to Molly's
snapped off
in some fast
passing storm
The broken tree
lay twisted
between a few
tree friends
who I thought I
heard crying

poem of the day March 19 An old ice pond

An old ice pond
long gone with time
now maintained
by a beaver train
The wooden bridge
spans minds and lives
of all those ghosts
that sawed the ice
for others souls
for midsummer nights

poem of the day March 18

The delicious
taste of
maple syrup
just drips
out of a tree
Simple for you
Simple for me

poem of the day March 17 The line of frost

The line of frost
has been so crossed
has melted out of earth
On this nice warm day
the ground gave way
and threw out the cold
When I walked across
this muddy field
on shoes that
soon got soaked
I did not not regret
my feet were wet
cause winter lost its hold

poem of the day March 16

What realm
beneath
the human soul
walks another land?
How many peels
within the wheels
are ground to
grains of sand?
Open all these wells
with sounds
to tell of
universal tunes
Many seek that bell
but few can tell
who strikes the bell for whom?

poem of the day March 15

A little patch
of early green
emerged in
the meadow row
I noticed it
looked just like
a church steeple
full of hope but
sans the people

poem of the day March 14

I lost today's poem
by a quick lick click
of my mindless finger
leaving me stunned
staring at a blank page
without a poem
It was a great poem
about perfect perfection
perhaps my best ever
but  a random click
was all that was needed
to sprout the seed
of my own imperfection
leaving me with this
second rate poem
for away from original perfection

poem of the day March 13

I woke up
a little confused
this morning
light was as usual
but time had changed
I was an hour late
for my coffee

poem of the day March 12

Small vernal streams
full of cold snow melt
pour down Warner Hill
so pure and inviting
Every sip is an early
taste of spring

poem of the day March 11

Robins
hanging in
Healy's field
Partying it up
Singing Beatle songs
grooving around
A whole bunch of them
I swear I even saw one
playing a bass guitar

poem of the day March 10

The snow
came back
very quickly
Engulfing
the meadow
again in a white robe
Very sudden like a curtain
pulled down to cover
a dress rehearsal

poem of the day March 9

So is war
just another
form of clockwork?
Some weird  human analog
signaling strange times?
The world of world war emerges
every generation
with little exception
Growing every day
Until  indecision
appears with
too much force
and once again
the clock strikes
the evil of men

poem of the day March 8

A strong wind
spring winter rain
disappearing the snow
Only white patches
left for wintertime fairies
A deep darken night
not as cold as before
Sap still high in the trees
I think it must be a movie

poem of the day March 7

The moment
of a day
Perfect sun
Warm soft snow
The base of a tree
melts toward me
The feeling
of being opened
by some universal
grandness
overtakes
thoughts of
man's smallness

poem of the day March 6

Everyday
as I join the screen
to watch the world
I am reminded
of the collective
battle soul of
good and evil
and how there
is a fine line
between the two
that can be reduced
to and through feelings
born throughout
the manipulations
of love and hate

poem of the day March 5

A smaller world
does link the game
of a madman who
wears no shame
Who believes he
must obliterate
a free Ukraine
What news he spreads
across his wire
is news controlled by
his forced red fire
And sitting far away
at a long big table
in some Moscow rain
Putin tends his bombs
to kill and maim
just so crazy
just so insane
this madman's game
to obliterate Ukraine

the world must enter and stop
not sit around and pretend to hop

poem of the day March 4

The sun lingers
well into
yesterday
afternoon
The extra light
grows very nicely
The spring spirit
drifts slow and sure

Thursday, March 3, 2022

 poem of the day March

For many reasons
in strange times
it can sometimes
be very interesting
almost thrilling
to think of
and if lucky
to watch simple things
as they spring to life
like sweet sap dripping
from a maple tree

poem of the day March 2

Ability of
long worn
bone
depends
upon a
reaching mind
How we feel
inside our sea
is up to you
is up to me

poem of the day March 1

A lot of
old sayings
seem to
be making
the rounds
Seem to be
on the lips
of most everyone
Maybe it's
time to cry
out into
these old
archetypes
and ask them
if they are
Ok with a
new version
Original or not
