poem of the day June 30

Round and Round
the emotions
build from
smoke to fire
I see zombie eyes
full of delusion
turn back empty
into dark ages
seeking not truth
but the exquisite
fear of power
The dirty oil lamps
smolder black smoke
on the edge of violence
inciting otherwise
moral righteous souls
into believing
truth is less important
than killing the messenger

poem of the day June 29

Sleeping
through
the sunrise
today required
a good dream
to drift through
the wall of dawn
but once awaken
by the sun
I have forgotten even
a single moment

poem of the day June 28

How does
it all work
in the universe
with so much
going on
all the time
in every corner
large and small
in every world
within worlds
And speaking
of our world
How does the Earth
feel about
having to revolve
around the sun
24 hours a day
365 days a year?

poem of the day June 27

A firefly light
inside a house
much less common
than a mouse
Crawled across
my computer screen
to tell me
the difference
between light
and dreams

poem of the day June 26

In tense
times of
great turmoil
In unreasoned
out of control
raw emotion
It is hard
to work love
into hate
but not  impossible
if one fully love themselves

poem of the day June 25

The problem
with raw emotions
on the battlefield
of a divided nation
is that no one
has control of
even a slice
of sanity
Allowing waves
of red hot hate
to erupt like volcanoes

poem of the day June 24

Something very
poignant about
a used candle
A reminder of
a story told
A celebration of
a flame that
has given up
most of its light
The short wick flickers
on and off in
a pool of wax
slowly melted by
the heat of time

poem of the day June 23

A tunnel vision
within a tube
extends the sounds
found all around
Like hollow strings
in a pit of violins
stretching notes
from sailing boats
But within
the wind of
bubble long
one always has
to beware
of sirens
shot from
two side shores
One full of love
One full of war

poem of the day June 22

I have never
understood
why one would
ever want to find
a needle
in a haystack?
Seems like going
out of one's way
to look for a
piece of lead
in a field of gold
is only a recipe for
an unhappy disaster

poem of the day June 21

Thoughts
drift up
out of nowhere
rolling like waves
one after another
Full but empty
Empty but full
Only unfolding
if one decides to follow

poem of the day June 20

The plan to be
normal has been
interrupted by
a new dark age
One full of great delusion
Insanity is now
sweeping across the nation
Especially in Tiny Texas
where they have
among other things
outlawed breathing

poem of the day June 19

What kinds of eyes
are needed to see
into your own happiness?
Are they eyes focused on vanity
the rise and fall of superficial
Are they eyes seeing outside
envying other people's lives
Are they eyes turned inside
only addressing your failures
If so it is time to get
a new pair of glasses
with a view into the
world of happiness
that is always hiding in plain sight

poem of the day June 18

After a cool night
full of wind
Morning dawn
opens with
a big chill
I am glad for
warm clothes
warm coffee
warm mind
but mostly
for the warm sun

poem of the day June 17

Watching history
The American coup
slowly being revealed
each well planned
crime at a time
like a very bad dream
with very bad actors
At what time does
does the nation
wake up and
unanimously condemn
all those involved

poem of the day June 16

Finding blooms
has been easy
this spring
with the world
full of flowers
Finding blooms
in a winter world
without flowers
is almost impossible
without faith, love
perseverance
and the imagination
of  reality

 poem of the day

The idea
of a handle
Something to
hold on to
To turn
To open
To close
Made of many materials
Shaped into many forms
But I have to ask
Would a handle be
a handle
if there was
not a handler?

poem of the day June 14

Another clockwork day
Another good late spring stunner
The air was very breathable
fresh and full of life
The birds sang, ate
and sang again
The trees of course
were very circumspect
stoic in a upright way
And like usual
listening to everything

poem of the day June 12

I still think
there is time
before the machines
take over  poetry
but if we continue
to be sucked dry
by the meta screen
Our human poems
will be nothing more
than motor oil dreams

poem of the day June 13

So many walks
taken around
the mountain
provide an endless path
of endless circles
forever worn into eternity
but these walks
have very little
in common with
the many steps
needed to reach enlightenment

poem of the day June 11

The pace f things
enter the pace of life
Where the twirl
of circumstance
mixes with dusty coins
forming the preordained
Such is the nature
of divine coincidence

poem of the day June 10

A blue bird
said to me
as I was outside
taking a pee
"A worthwhile
endeavor
to have
forever
is the study
of energy
but to study
this energy
inside a body
known as chi
you will have to spend
many a happy eternity"

poem of the day June 9

The surge
the after wave
the rush up sand
because you can
No water is necessary
when you dream
within the dream

poem of the day June 8

In the small pond
near the big boat
lived a very loud frog
who loved to float
He took his voice
super seriously
and could only put
his babble aside
when the big boat
in the small pond
went out for a ride

poem of the day June 7

Another day
enlarged by light
rises forward
moving everything
a few inches
into the future
Toward realms both
known and unknown

poem of the day June 6

Condensed
into a short
June night
dreams
sometimes
are hard
to contain
and often
spill over
into the lucid dawn
Blink your eyes
enjoy the rides

poem of the day June 5 Voice mountains

Voice mountains
shout from the top
of very high peaks
Voice valleys
echo from
very far below
The grunts of Earth
play their own music
seemingly unconcerned
with the sounds of life
Yet every once in a while
the Earth pauses
to hear the perfection
of a good soulful choir

poem of the day June 4

They say
fire and water
are opposites
that don't mix
Yet a hot bath
a good soak
a melting into
the warmth of
simple wet pleasure
allows a soul
to drop the matter
to drop the energy
and be as one in
the rare harmony
of fire water

poem of the day June 3

Watching
a great number
of early birds
in the soft drizzle
huddle together
as they hop around
searching for
big worms
Makes me wonder if
nightcrawlers
taste better
wet with rain?

poem of the day June 2

A flight full of words
very eager to
express themselves
jump on a jet page
and head for the
land of paragraphs
bound for pages unknown

poem of the day June 1

Moments passing
Passing moments
come and go
On a rounding carousel
time sits on
a well run horse
changing saddles
but never stopping
