poem of the day September 30

So many
tour buses
full of tourists
on the road
touring fall leaves
flexing their muscles
in the pouring rain
enjoying the surreal nature
of  a wet color day
unaware of the dangers
of mountain roads

poem of the day September 29

I felt sorry for
the free chair
that looked old
and tired
as it sat
on the side
of the road
day after day
in all kinds
of weather
with no takers
with no ass
for its seat

poem of the day September 28

The house plants
are happy
to be inside
this chilly dawn
Though not
too cold to
kill them
the outside
would reach
their bones
Why one sitting
next to me
while waiting for
the sun
told me they all
were grateful
each and every one

poem of the day September 27 There are

There are
those things
that often walk
in hallways
of the mind
Not with feet
or shoes that meet
the passage born of time
It's just those thoughts
that do come up
to leap from
lane to lane
as they have
for eternity
like windy weathervanes

poem of the day September 27

A tree
with a
hole in it
experiencing
a whole
in its tree
Meeting
somewhere not
in the sap
But in a place
where mammals
and birds
can merge
with wooden branches
made by no man

poem of the day September 25

The adventure
of rain drops
falling from clouds
does make
the seas of
water proud
These oceans
of water slap
the shores
with a mantra
that sounds like
More and More

poem of the day September 24

Watching those
trees again
They just
stand there
Day after Day
in front of the same house
where they were planted
by someone long ago
who first watched them grow
Many years have now passed
and I am watching them
wondering if those trees know
I am not the same man
who planted them

poem of the day September 23

The slide of hand
The slide of mind
All confuse the
march of time
Yet here we go
round and round
Believing lies
that up is down

poem of the day September 22

The art
of waiting
is made
of patience
sitting in great
limbo time
wondering if
the mouse arriving
with the plans of man
will be late or early

poem of the day September 21

Fire and Water
Sun and Rain
All summer long
gone down the drain

poem of the day September 20

Orange sky
Emerging sun
Illuminating
maples leaves
in such a way
the light
has infused
hints of color
into each and every leaf

poem of the day September 19

With all
those Adams
looking
for all
those Eves
Using atoms
full of A.I.
disease
Then who
would know
if the thing
they see
Was love
or just
an apple tree

poem of the day September 18

A loud whisper
of rain
remains
as it hits
the roof
washes down
the drain
Into some
sleepy dream
morning flow
A reminder of
the way things go

poem of the day September 17

If a bird
flew backwards
over the same sky
where it
had just been
Would it
be repeating
the past
Or be flying
into the future?

poem of the day September 16

Fog and Dew
spread all over
a framed window
An overlooked
art formed dawn
that will eventually
disappear when
the rising sun
comes galloping along

poem of the day September 15

The ride
to the bottom
The slide down
the high hill
Bungy jumping
into the valley
Giant slalom
downhill skiing
Parachuting
to the ground
This free falling
force of gravity is
so powerful
I have always wondered
why it is not a God
or a least an enlightened dog

poem of the day September 14

I wonder
what a tree
thinks of the wind?
Does it like a good gust
blowing through its leaves?
Does it like to feel the liveliness
of branches flapping?
The adrenaline of sap
in a sudden draft
running down its trunk?
Of course all these thoughts
are only my speculations

poem of the day September 13

Maple seeds
hang on
maple trees
loaded with
nuclear potential
The seeds wait
like an air force
clinging to
the mothership
full of anticipation
I see the determination
of each seed
ready to takeoff
into a wind and spin

poem of the day September 12

An anniversary
of collective sorrow
22 songs of
sad emotions
22 years
2 planes hit
2 towers
side by side
Reverence
Remembrance
2 words to honor
all Twin Towers
Yesterday I felt the glow
of lost love
of coming together
like Americans
used to do
in a world torn
apart by hate
But now
2 words
love and hate
sit side by side
like a catch 22

Poem of the day September 11

When finding your
own path
through the
dusty footprints
of the long road
It is hard not
to fall into
the ruts of others

poem of the day September 10

A description
found in words
describe the degrees
of how life moves
in the emotional minds
of writers and readers
Where the difference
between big and huge
is often larger than gigantic

poem of the day September 9

Night thunder
Loud rumbles
roll along
the almost
dusky dark
The lightning
too far to
be seen
still provides
some sudden light
Both are entwined
in my momentary mind

poem of the day September 8

Inside
Outside
pass each other
at the intersection
of Milky Way
and Way Milky
I see them everyday
as I paint my open door

poem of the day September 7

Hot September
hotter than
hot july
The dry heat
in fields
of fate
wave like
wild time
The sun has power
reminding me
of hippie hour
I think of all those
years ago
in hot September
remembering
Molly's pond
on a day
like today
hotter than
hot july

poem of the day September 6

A drone
is an invasive
new species
that flies around
with cameras
recording through
windows and doors
all thing human
I hope this bird like
robot does not
infect fertile minds

poem of the day September 5

An antique silver
baby cup
from long ago
A cup that is
way older than me
Yet when I think
of its history
All I see
is the silver cup of
a newborn baby

poem of the day September 4

I wonder if someday
someone will be able
to shape rain drops
into drops of
cats and dogs
and then have it
rain cats and dogs?

poem of the day September 3

Time walks along
a sidewalk of dawn
The great moon
looks down
on a meditating field
All clovers roll
over and over
The sun is still
a while away

poem of the day September 2

My very old cat
was sitting atop
the stone buddha
in the hot sun
basking in a day
full of simple pleasures

poem of the day September 1

A city
had to
at some
point
been
a wilderness
I am wondering
if there is still
a wilderness
somewhere
in a city?
