poem of the day February 29 Birds eating

Birds eating
dog food
Dogs eating
human food
Humans eating
bee food
Bees eating
bird food
How absurd
to observe
the circle spin
of eating food

poem of the day February 28

The discarded
threadbare
free lounge chair
sat for weeks
by the side
of the road
homeless and abandoned
The cars drove by
one after another
never stopping
Assholes too
busy with
their own lives
to care about
or wanting
another's asses seat
Then one day
as I drove by
the chair was gone
Finally an ass had
stopped for a seat

poem of the day February 27

A morning moon
A morning sun
appear as two
but really one
Sunlight rises
Moonlight sets
whose light
does shine
upon one's chest?

poem of the day February 26

Philosophers from
all over the world
were gathered around
the round table
philosophizing the most
pressing of questions
A question more
profound than
'To be or not To be'
A question with
earth shattering
consequences
Especially in this
new insta linked meta world
Would you rather eat
Chinese food in Mexico
or Mexican food in China?

poem of the day February 25

A dream
of a dream
of a dream
of a dream
of a dream
Eventually
after many years
of distillation
gets fine tuned
into the dream
of a lifetime

poem of the day February 23

A gem of a place
hiding from humanity
Tucked away
in the wilderness
Remained untouched
for centuries
before it was
discovered
and slowly
turned into
a tourist destination
by the crowd beating down
the path less traveled
Until the road became
as wide as Disneyland

poem of the day February 22

I'd like to be
the sugar sap
at the bottom of
the maple tree
Waiting for
a few degrees
before I race up
the sleeping tree
into the branches
of the canopy
where I will be
the sea of all eternity

poem of the day February 21

light on light
is not as bright
as light reflected
off of snow
just ask those
stars high above
as they shine
on us below

poem of the day February 20

I went to
a restaurant
I had not
been to
in twelve years
The waitress
sat me at
the same table
where I ordered
the same meal
which tasted
the same
As I ate
looking at
the same
posters on the wall
I began to wonder
if time had stood still
in this restaurant
while I had aged
around in some
new theory of relativity

poem of the day February 19

The snow was
marred  with
lost footprints
Tracks leading
to places unknown
Late winter drifts dotted
the landscape grown
tired of time
The only thing
I knew for certain
as the sun rose
Don't eat the yellow snow

poem of the day February 18

Maybe the light
does not
lead the way
Maybe the dark
is really OK
Maybe the road
does not travel far
Maybe your home
is a circle of stars

poem of the day February 17

Another dream poem
Maybe you had one too
Some weird movie
coming from somewhere
in the subconscious
Where cars fly
and planes swim
Where tunnels
turn into stairways
eating rules mixed
with strong drinks
shooting out from
a fountain shaped reality
that ends abruptly
when one gets up to pee

poem of the day February 16

Mesmerized by
rushing rapids
full of melting snow
and rising steam
The cooks of water
have made
a wild winter
eye opening feast
out of nothing
but taking the time
to watch the river flow

poem of the day February 15

The long way
The short way
The middle way
The whatever way
Going down the highway
Floating on the byway
Flying on the skyway
A big way
A small way
Either way
Every way
Which way
All ways
Always
way to way

poem of the day February 14

It was a strange therapy
A radical new approach
to curb out of control
TIME ADDICTION
Sitting in an empty room
full of boredom
staring at a giant clock
Doing nothing but
watching the hands
crawl around and around
and around and around...
Until one finally stops
caring about anything
past or future
and begins to have
a sense of belonging
to the present

poem of the day February 13

The anticipation
of a storm
influences life
Yesterday
the storm was
all anyone
talked about
A big nor'easter
was threatening to upend
every single thing
Preemptively:
Schools were closed
Businesses closed
Everyone was told
to hunker down
But now with no snow
Where do we all go?

poem of the day February 12

A twirl world
trying to balance
on a revolving river
while chasing
a setting sun
have all three attended
the milky way
trying to figure
which direction is ok

poem of the day February 11

It was a strange sign
even for a village
message board
It read:
I am looking
for a used crystal ball
but only a good luck one
willing to pay
big bucks
for a good fortuned future
Those balls stuck
in the realm
in the reality
of the past owner's karma
do not reply

poem of the day February 10

It seemed
out of place
on the eve
of Chinese New Year
to see a
woolly caterpillar
slowly inching
across the winter snow
So much so
I wondered
what was it doing
as I watched it go
Then after many yards
of wiggling and wagging
I knew the caterpillar
was becoming a dragon

poem of the day February 9

Time is
always present
but never
works overtime
or ever
slow downs
Never is late
Never is early
Amazing to be
able to do all that
for endless eternity
and still be on time

poem of the day February 8

I wonder what
a maple tree feels
as the sugar sap
races up its branches
on a warm sunny day
opening possibilities
dormant all winter
I am helped
in my imagination
by a big swig of
last years syrup

poem of the day February 7

Once again
it does come
down to the sun
For a while when
walking my dogs
I had forgotten
all about it
but when we got back
and hung in the drive
I soon remembered
The dog remembered
as the sun warmed
into our souls

poem of the day February 6

The colors
of sunrise
start very early
when the light
of other stars
still live in
the dreams
of the sleeping

poem of the day February 5

It's been
day and night
for as long as
I can remember
Dawn to dusk
Dusk to dawn
The circle of sun
chases each other
like a cosmic clock
shadows the light

poem of the day February 4

How many strides
make a ride
How many smiles
are in a mile
How many talks
are made of walks
How many lives
are lived outside
How many steps
are made in jest
How many paths
are able to last
How many loads
travel the road
How much fate
is in one's gait
And finally
How much thought
when at the fork?

poem of the day February 3

Music memory lane
Old songs of life
Your life
My life
The wind strong
Cords pulling me back
remembering those tunes
as they move through time
Those were the days my friends...

poem of the day February 2 I have heard from others

I have heard from others
Of all things buried
under the snow
Of all things that
reappear after
a long winter nap
The most anticipated
The most earth altering
The most consequential
is the shadow fate of Groundhog Phil

poem of the day February 1

Dreams
night thoughts
impressionistic
realism
logical
illogical
ways of judging
a good night of rest
weary, renewed, wired or not
Few remember sleep
Everyone remembers dreams
