poem of the day April 30

Gray drizzle
falls on
swollen buds
Peaches hint
the cloudy light
with pretty pink
Nearby a magnolia
plays a viola
and those daffodils
open the hills
What can I say
I should have
told ya

poem of the day April 29

The rabbits
gathered
in hats
waiting
as usual
for the magician
to wave
a magic wand
When it did
not happen
all rabbits
were left
with the reality
of overpopulation

poem of the day April 28

I'm seeing
love around
each mountain
with an April
by my side
Circling around
a maypole
looking for a bride
All the birds
are flirting
while building
lovely nests
as big raccoons
stare at
the moon
full of
lustly zest
I see the souls
of beast & men
inside big
open smiles
all looking for
a lover to
to make a
springtime child

poem of the day April 27

If the world
is flooded
with kindness
and the cruel
drown in their
own narcissistic
tunnels of delusion
Will the rest of us
part time sinners
drink the Kool-Aid
of compassion
and become the true
equality of eternal light

poem of the day April 26

The life
inside
an old
photograph
Frozen
long ago
to a window
of lost time
Waxing
Waning
A beautiful
forgotten woman
with a timeless smile
holds a basket
full of dreams
waiting  as always
to come
alive inside
the imagination
of a living mind

poem of the day April 25

The space
between
Ideas
between
Nations
between
Religions
have become
battlefields
of tensions
Expansive spaces
full of
clatter matter
probing
the illusion
of righteousness
Where tribes
each armed
with their
own version
of god
test the limits
of morality

poem of the day April 24

I wonder
if a daffodil
gets a very
springy thrill
waking in
the morning chill
surrounded on
a yellow hill
by other
freezing daffodils?

poem of the day April 23

seeing stars
on a starry night
cold moon spring
perhaps too cold
I went outside
to be with
the blooming
magnolia
to smell flowers
in case of frost

poem of the day April 22

Framing
imperfection
Making it
the art
instead
of burying
our faults
in vaults
reveals
the true
masterpiece
found within

poem of the day April 21

The spring earth
smelt of
anticipation
The musk soil
eagerly drank
in light rain
Here and there
swollen flowers
could not resist
temptation
and opened early

poem of the day April 20

An old broom
sweeps up
all  crumbs
of life
Left overs
from each
generation
The good
The bad
The ugly
leaving
tea leaves
easily read
even by
California psychics

poem of the day April 19

a beautiful
musical instrument
an organ
with keys
full of colors
is found
inside every body
red heart
blue kidneys
yellow intestines
green liver
white lungs
internal vibrations
full of songs
to clear both
body and mind

Poem of the day April 18

The sun
rose
everyday
without any
expectation
of perfection
Perfection
followed
the rising sun
everyday
rain or shine
perfectly
with no expectation
The only expectation
to be found
was in my imperfect mind

poem of the day April 17 Early light

Early light
seeps into
the dawn fog
to the sound
of waves breaking
on the beach
The morning birds
softly singing
in anticipation
reach a crescendo
The air clears
The wind dances
The sun rises
over the sea
with a flicker
of reality

poem of the day April 16

All those
understandings
stood fast
to hold
the sacred line
like fishing piers
throughout the years
withstanding seas of time
but now those
understandings are
challenged everyday
and all those norms
that withstood storms
are drowning
in some bay

poem of the day April 15

All those
empty shells
on the beach
Thousands on
every tide
Where do they all
come from?
What happened
in their lives
Were they long
Were they short
Were they happy
as a clam
Or sad
like an oyster
without a pearl
I think of them
All of them
as I walk
the tide line
shells in mind

poem of the day April 14

coming back
to the primordial
as new footprints
appear to disappear
on a sand beach
by waves renewing
the mother shore
with each tide
of a revolution

poem of the day April 13

I have been
watching
the empty swing
in the storm
that hasn't
been swung
for so long
Begin swinging
in the wind
Up and down
swung all around
swinging in the rain
Swinging in the rain
Oh what a wonderful  feeling
for a empty swing
to be swinging again

poem of the day April 12

So many
poems
So many odes
about light
Original light
Unoriginal light
Natural light
Man made light
Everywhere
you look
a blaze
of light
Where even
the heavens
have stars
to shine on Mars
It makes
me think
it must be
almost
impossible
to be
completely dark
in a light lined park

poem of the day April 11

big buds
swollen
with spring
shiver like
cold toes
dipped in
yesterday's
waves
I see them
clinging on
surfboards
waiting for
the sunrise

poem of the day April 10

It was the day after
the solar eclipse
and I was on my way
to visit the hermit
with a mind
still full of
impressions about
the moon covered sun
The dark over light
How it affects the earth
when all of a sudden
I spotted a wandering
bewildered raccoon
walking along the railroad tracks
by the side of the road
Had it been abruptly awakened during the eclipse?
I was still thinking these thoughts
when I arrived at the hermit's house
anxious to talk about  animals
and how they absorbed the art of all light

poem of the day April 9

The wild
surrounds
the tame
The tame
surrounds
the wild
Taming the wild
Wilding the tame
back and forth
Roads and storms
Storms and roads
like a never
ended game
of go
on the board
of Mother Earth
who rules the show

poem of the day April 8

The earth provides
the promenade
in which to watch
on this atom eve
the moon as it hides
the inner light
of our blazing sun
A solar eclipse.
to explore
an outer light
lost at times
like onion skin
peeled to find
the pearl within
but on this dark of day
on the blackened sky
the flickered aura
seldom seen
will cast the earth
in twilight dreams

poem of the day April 7

circumstance
happenstance
mostly kept
their distance
when racing around
a circle of chance
but once in a while
they met by coincidence
in an event some say
was a preordained occurrence

poem of the day April 6

riding waves
of the  moment
on a body born
of stardust
surfing somewhere
in the middle
of space
with no end
or beginning

poem of the day April 5

I love
the smell
of Hyacinths
that fill
a living room
a lovely scent
a great event
so heaven sent
to open
a sense
of a soul

poem of the day April 4

Strange colors
for a spring day
White blizzard snow
covers green
even on evergreens
The only other hues
I can see
are balls of orange
on puffed up
freezing robins
as they hunker down
on white covered ground

poem of the day April 3

The old cat died
I knew he would
because he had
used up his last cat life
The big number 9
when I saved him
after the old cat
had slipped into
the toilet bowl
and could not get out
If I had been 10 seconds later
he would have drown
Intuitively knowing he
was on borrowed time
the old cat embraced
a most peaceful
wonderful happy death
After saving him
he stopped eating
then a few day later
the old cat
stopped drinking
but he never stopped loving
or being loved
All of us held him
to say goodbye
He was content, purring
till the very end
Spending his last
sunny afternoon
sunny himself
in the warm sun
I was the last
to see the old cat
still alive
When I went to bed
I rubbed his third eye
and told the old cat to
follow the light
He looked up at me knowingly
with his crossed eyes
The next morning
the soul of
the old cat was gone
but his body
left behind
had one giant smile
bigger than an old Cheshire cat
We buried him next
to the stone lion
where he loved to sun

rest in peace
Diego

poem of the day April 2

early
pink sky
reflecting off
soft green
meadow grass
reminds me
of easter tulips
blooming on
a merry-go-round
until pink and green
are mixed together
by time into
a brown grey morning

poem of the day April 1

natural
storms
human
storms
inorganic
emotion
organic
emotion
appear and
disappear
all over
the world
both are raw
but only one
is war
