poem of the day Jan 31
The
iron
bench
by
the river
bank
has
looked
out
over
the Falls
for as
long
as I
can
remember
Sometimes
full
Sometimes
empty
but
always
a welcome
refuge
for a
weary
traveler
lost in
thought
I often
wonder
as I
pass by
the bench
If it
ever
listens
to the
lives
that come
to sit
down
upon
its
well
worn seat
for a
few
minutes
of
peaceful
rest
while
watching
the river
Flow
poem of the day Jan 30
Once
again
sitting
here
Worrying
in the
waiting
room
Hoping
everything
will
be
OK
My poor
baby
Has
to
be
subjected
to
yet
another
round
of
invasive
tests
All
to make
sure
there
is no
problem
standing
in the
way
of
getting
a new
inspection
sticker
so i
can
Drive
out of
here
without
feeling
rejected
poem of the day Jan 29
I watched
the frozen
stream
Struggle
to flow
through
ice sheets
of its
own
making
on this
cold
New England day
Reminding
me that
the difference
between
Ease
and
Struggle
Is just
a matter
of a
few
degrees
poem of the day Jan 28
The river
was
cold
and
treacherous
The canoe
old
and
full of
holes
Yet
everyone
down to
the last
man
volunteered
to
seek
the gold
that
was
said
to be
waiting
at the
end
of the
rainbow
poem of the day Jan 27
Writers
on the
wall
Reciting
legends
from
the hall
Are
trimming
out the
Door
with
hordes
of
human
lore
Using
words
that
came
before
Nothing
less
Nothing
more
poem of the day Jan 26
What
you see
outside
the window
is entirely
up
to you
Perhaps its
just
your
locked
point of
view
that
holds you
from
a place
You
want
to be
but
Can’t
Because
you closed
your mind
To opening
windows
That
do
let
in the
Cold
along
with
the
rain to
Change
the
game
poem of the day Jan 25
Any
apple
Alice
ate
after
attending
an
august
arboretum’s
annual
address
about
apple
addiction
altered
answers
about
Alice’s
alarming
apple
appetite
poem of the day Jan 24
Pussy willow
Pussy willow
why have
you bloomed?
Don’t you
know your
flowers
are doomed?
Was it
the warm
spell
that made
your sap run?
into your
buds that
mixed with
the sun
Was it a
trick or a
man made
thing that
made you
believe
it really
was spring?
I hope you
still have
some
blooms up
your sleeves
to turn
into flowers
for the
still sleeping
bees
poem of the day Jan 23
The two
birds
sitting
free
on the
high
tension
wire
Had
no
idea
of the
stress
that
was
grounded
Into
the
average
house
Where
the
power
juice
was
headed
poem of the day Jan 22
Wasting
precious
resources
on a
God
who
does
Not
Value
The meaningless
Virtue
Of
Human
Sacrifice
has
been
the
man
made
definition
of
delusion
throughout
the ages
poem of the day Jan 21
New England
stream
in the
Snow
White
flowing
water
is just
another
example
of
simple
perfection
Water
Snow
Water
poem of the day Jan 20
Investing
in a
waste
of
time
Is sometimes
a full
time
job
of
folly
That
is
not
known
until
You
get
off
the
Trolley
poem of the day Jan 19
A two bit
Actor
with a
Rodeo
name
came
to blows
with
those
who
knew
his
shame
He did
not
have
the
wealth
he
claimed
But
Never less
He
had
some
fame
poem of the day Jan 18
Where
things
are
heading
is
up to
You
No
matter
how
much
the mad
Hatter
gives
to
the
zoo
There
are
no
secrets
Only
the
lack
of
understanding
When
you
are
standing
on
things
About
to
hop
Side
by
Side
on
the
Human
slide
poem of the day Jan 17
It all
made
sense
when
the weary
Travelers
stumbled
upon
the sign
Somewhere
between
midnight
and
dawn
“No
Dreams
Available
For
Lack
Of
Sleep”
poem of the day Jan 16
Yesterday
has
rounded
the corner
and is
Sitting
on a hill
close
to another
sunrise
Where
all of
the sleeping
Virtues
are
about
to
Arise
poem of the day an 15
I took
a trip
to the
corner
store
before
it was
Sold
and
Was
no more
Each
day
I think
of how
the counter
looked
When i
paid
My
Bill
for
the
last
Fishing
hook
poem of the day Jan 14
On the
stage
of what
is right
People
live
lives
with
rules
that
rise
from
points
of view
Where
the
Measure
of the
moral
wrong
is
just
a long
thin
line
that
stretches
back
to one
Who
has
only
a few
Years
to
Conquer
human
Fears
or
else
They are
all born
again
with
the same
Storms
inside
of
someone
New
poem of the day Jan 13
Side by
side
Rubbing
the Rub
Sometimes
the fall
is not
as bad
as the
Climb
out of
the tub
Both
have
to be
faced
by
the
Eyes
of disgraced
Hikers
like us
that have
failed
along
the perfect
way
of
human
poem of the day Jan 12
For
twenty first
century
meditation
Forget all
trappings
The mats
The yoga pants
The chanting
The postures
even
the Mantras
All
You need is
a comfortable
perch
And
a screen
to suck
you into
the One minded
Bliss
of checking
the status
Of
your
Sage
page
poem of the day Jan 11
A feather
on the
mind
Is a
fantasy
of time
Some
flying
flame
arrow
careful
trickle
That
comes
down
out
of
stretched
arms
open
Like
a
Winter’s
hopeful
Dove
floating
from
above
poem of the day Jan 10
Reversing
time
is beyond
the understanding
of
anything
we can
imagine
Even
though
it is
something
we
often
wish
for
poem of the day Jan 9
I wonder
if the
light
of a
billion
stars
at night
have any
lasting
effect
on those
who
wish
upon
them
by the
time
they
wake
up in
the
morning
poem of the day Jan 8
Outside
Inside
rise
of
tides
Coming
from the
pool
of
darkness
the
light
emerged
Falling
up
around
the
town
Where
the
perfect
jelly
men
send
their
friends
On one
way
missions
to mars
in cars
hoping
to ride
inside
the
outside
rise
of tides
poem of the day Jan 7
If you
send
all your
dreams
to a
dreamer
then
there
won’t
be
much
left
for
you
to do
when
you
are
sleeping
except
sleep
