Once in
a while
I remember
the smile
before the
wind howled
on that
fateful day
The world
of rope
was so full
of hope
The cold war
was starting
to thaw
Laughter
was about
fresh as trout
Until a
rouge gust
blew that
innocence away
It brought
down the
wrath of
all of things past
Where after
a while
and many more
miles
The news said
to everyone’s
dread
“From now on
Beware
of the air
that is
coming
from there”
As they
pointed
a finger
at the
nuclear power
of once noble
Chernobyl
