poem of the day December 12

When things were
a dime a dozen
no one had to think
water was left running
long after you left the sink
It was great to drive for hours
and sit inside your car
it did not really matter
that you never traveled far
The height of fancy manners
was to leave food on the plate
cause no one wanted
to be thought of
as a man of second rate
But now that eggs cost a fortune
with water as expensive as gas
you have to think of the future
when drinking from the glass
