poem of the day December 31

Around the world
in 365 days
A line of time
within our  minds
endings
beginnings
a circle of dancers
atop a  moving stage
sins, emotion, tonic lotions
a stream of humans
floating on dreams
past future
separated by the
mountain peak of
of fresh hope
erupting like a volcano
from the fleeting present
of another year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

poem of the day December 30

Fire in snow
the whole clan
gathered around
the blizzard
Babies, kids and grands
a twenty-first century
bonfire in a hemlock grove
where snow falls
white onto the eternal
flame of light

poem of the day December 29

The calm
not so calm
The silent landscape
full of anticipation
as I look out
on the grey
windless meadow
Soon the emerging might
of a Northeaster
will take over the light
I can't wait to play
in the magic
of a winter storm
in my house
full of home

poem of the day December 28

Wisdom
and Luck
were driving
their truck full
of the future
Along for
the ride was Pride
and his bride
When they came
to the bridge
It was very run down
Wisdom wanted
to turn time around
but Pride said go on
It was then up to Luck
who had to choose for the truck

poem of the day December 27

The days seem to
move faster
as the New Year approaches
I wonder if it is
the strong dark
cradling the weak light
breeding unsettled anticipation
of something old ending
something new beginning
And not wanting to be trapped
in the slack tide of limbo
where the reflection of spaces
float on uncharted seas
full of change

poem of the day December 26

I heard it say
a branch
on a tree
in winter
is the perfect
reflection
of simple
cold solitude
No leaves
or the heat
they bring
get in the way
So why am I
wishing for spring?

poem of the day December 25

5AM and the giving trees in
the middle of many rooms
are decorated with excitement
lights, ornaments, tinsel
Underneath presents
cover the floor in anticipation
IS truly the Eve of the prefect storm

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
AND TO ALL A GOOD LIFE!

poem of the day December 24

Between the foot
and the footprint
are the steps we take
Each and every one
part of the journey
Some small
Some large
Some along familiar trails
Some blazed into the wilderness
Sometimes the steps are crowded
with many fellow travelers
Other times the steps are alone
walking on a lonely road
I have heard the
trick to good stepping
is to click your
feet together
and allow yourself fly

poem of the day December 23

Yin and Yang
were playing
ping pong
in the garden
near the courtyard
of nothingness
which was full
of the unrest of blessed
Father Sage was
with Mother Time
watching the match
while drinking wine
I was the ball of life
bouncing on the hard plane
back and forth throughout the game
And when it was over
And all were at rest
It was then I realized
I was the one they
came to test

poem of the day December 22

Arriving and Departing
At the airport
Watching families
while I wait for mine
Faces of humanity
The Departing
sad and solemn
The Arriving
joyous and happy
All in the same building
under the same roof
reminding me of my human body
How happy and sad
are in the same temple
separated by nothing
more then the emotions
of coming and going

poem of the day December 21

In the quest
of a perfect present
I drove many miles
over many hours
I felt like I was on
the American trail
A holiday traveler
lost in the Xmas wilderness
Darting through
wild cars as
I went from
mall to mall
Where each and
every store was
trying to part
me and my money
I was so overwhelmed
that I came home with nothing
but the need
for a well deserved Martini!

CHEERS!

poem of the day December 20

When the World was flat
it was easy to push man off the edge
but as the World became round
Man began to turn into anger
until there was so much war
that the World became an open sore

poem of the day

After a drive through
a covered bridge
I feel a little bit
old fashion
I am stepped back
into old New England
to a simpler world
where food was made
from natural ingredients
and the screen was
something used
to filter  butter and maple syrup
I am lost enjoying the past
until my smart phone rings

poem of the day December 18

"Sometimes the dance
can lead to romance"
Casanova said to
Olive as he looked
her in the eye
Popeye  was in the corner
eating spinach pie
The band began to play
an ordinary tune
that didn't seem
so sensual to
others in the room
But there in the center
of the lust infested stage
Casanova let his fingers
enter Olive's jet black maze
and just as she kissed him
something flew into the air
It was the last romance
either was to dance
because Popeye
threw the chair

poem of the day December 17

All have heard of
the light in the wilderness
The safe beacon in
the world full of wild
An oasis of humanity
that grows a hopeful vine
until all is tamed
Then the pendulum swings
back into the dark of day
where black thoughts eat
the hope of light with
crude wild emotions
until the wilderness
of discontentment
once again puts out the light
I heard God say
"Do not get lost in it
It is only the cycle
Just another battle in the lives
of good and evil"

poem of the day December 16

The car looks
so cold out there
frozen in winter sin
Made me think about ice
and mice and men
How fluid thoughts
emerge like hot
vapors from the well
and how those thoughts
flowing in rivers
sometimes become
locked in the
dark abyss of frozen lives
stuck driving cold cars
full of snow

poem of the day December 15

The moon was big
The air was cold
The trees swayed
like they were freezing
I am in my car
with the heat on
driving down
the old silk road
enjoying the stark
moonlight solitude
of a full sun refection
as seen through
the prism of a starry winter night

poem of the day October 14

The orange peal
looked so out of place
sitting there atop the snow bank
Bright orange
on a mountain of white
I was wondering what
kind of monkey
put it there
when a blue jay
come down for
a closer inspection
took a peck
and flew it away

poem of the day December 13

I am sad
as I remember
the all star Ad man
New York City
through and through
From his love of salty bagels
to Long Island blue fish
A lox spread on Sundays
right before a game
Where he arranged for the bill board
to shine with grand kids names
He was a master at getting a ticket
to events that were all sold out
like the seat for his daughter
to see the Beatles in 1966
On his 80th birthday
he said to me
"My greatest fear was
to die a young man
and now I will die
an old man"
A very old man at 93
He loved being an Ad man
his family, Israel
the New York Mets
and world class cruising
The last time I saw him
I asked him what he
was thinking about in
the ebb and flow
He said
" I want one more big Ad deal
before I go"

poem of the day December 12

I have been
watching the trailer
to the craziest movie ever
THE DIRTY RICH
A comedy thriller
based on the Dirty Dozen
About a band
of arrogant  lawless
greedy businessmen
that have left their
selfish ways and are now out
to save the middle class
from corrupt people like themselves
Have any of you seen it?
If not it opens in all 50 States
Early 2017

poem of the day December 11

In every situation
there are things one leaves behind
There are doors that never open
cause the hinges do not rhyme
There are standards written in motion
that never move an inch
The winter creeps like ivy
as we all embrace the grinch
There is time before the new year
to think about the old
the ones that came before us
who lived within our halls

poem of the day December 10

"Summer has been lost"
I tell my dreams
huddled by the woodstove
both of us warm
I am watching the sunrise
but all I see
is the chill waiting outside
I start to dress for winter's road
Long johns on to start the day
The temperture still a cold 18
enough to freeze my chili beans

poem of the day December 9

It was a typical night
Everybody brought
a bit of themselves
to the party
I arrived late
with my laziness
By the time
I got there
Anxious had
already left
I went up to Shallow
who was talking
about the weather
until Long Winded
came over with
his wife Bored
and took over the conversation
Looking around
I noticed Anger
at the bar with Depression
mixing up a drink
for Addicted
Over in the corner Flirty
was making out with Desire
It was then I spotted
Fear and Loathing
Hanging around
the host Narcissist
who was too busy
hugging himself to notice

poem of the day December 8

After traveling
for years and
ending up in
the same old space
One has to wonder
what change had
taken place?

poem of the day December 7

The white of snow
on a naked branch
The stark beauty
of lonely solitude
The reflection of thought
My thought
Your thought
Branches of the same tree
Our trunk of time
Limited only by
the frozen wood
covered by the snow
in each of us

poem of the day December 6

Spaces
in space
I have on my
space suit
all buttoned up
with the idea me
Traveling
on the highway
with the masses
full of the many ideas of you
A different change
of clothes
for every women and man
as we walk together
as part of the grand

poem of the day December 5

All the cells
of me and you
change every
seven years
into something
completely new
It is only our points
of view that
remain inside to
stew and stew

poem of the day December 4

The dogs
have gone
on a munch out
Their new favorite food
is microwave popcorn
Three boxes are now
spread out over the
floor like a carpet
Fire cracker popcorn
who would have guessed
it would be such
a gastronomical delight
Of course the munch out
did not end there
Among the remnants of
crackers and peanuts were
energy power bar wrappers
at two bucks a bite
littered over
the popcorn like
Christmas decorations
on Candy Cane lane
I am just glad they left
my half unfinished glass
of wine for me to find
just in time

poem of the day December 3

I keep a dream
inside my chest
and bring it out
while I'm at rest
A wink of an eye
A faded rose
The smell of
everything
turning into something
The air holds more
oxygen then wind
I see myself
surrounded by help
and I like the way
the dreams begins
the love of friends
I breath them in

poem of the day December 2

Sun Mingling
with  grey fog
makes red sky
The blanket
of beauty
creeps over
the east ridge
full of emotion
that drifts down
into the hearts
of humans needing
some Divine love
to start the day

poem of the day December 1

The first of December
I am trying to remember
the daffodils of last spring
How beautiful they were
like a sun drop snow flake
I bring that memory
as we all step onto winter's boat
headed to the north pole
I will keep the flower thought alive
in my heart to warm
the cold solitude of reflections
that pop up in the deep dark
