poem of the day December 13

I am sad
as I remember
the all star Ad man
New York City
through and through
From his love of salty bagels
to Long Island blue fish
A lox spread on Sundays
right before a game
Where he arranged for the bill board
to shine with grand kids names
He was a master at getting a ticket
to events that were all sold out
like the seat for his daughter
to see the Beatles in 1966
On his 80th birthday
he said to me
"My greatest fear was
to die a young man
and now I will die
an old man"
A very old man at 93
He loved being an Ad man
his family, Israel
the New York Mets
and world class cruising
The last time I saw him
I asked him what he
was thinking about in
the ebb and flow
He said
" I want one more big Ad deal
before I go"

Rest In Peace
Robert Myron Miller
