poem of the day April 30

Yellow flowers
in a rainy light
makes the morning
an eye's delight
Atmospheric  hue
merges fog like porridge
with tangible dreams
the color of orange
A magic fuzzy realm
mixes light and color
upon the souls
of rainy day flowers
poem of the day April 29

light thru
a mostly
naked tree
shines off
swollen buds
most happily

poem of the day April 28

Find a light
Find a tunnel
Know your place
within the bubble

poem of the day April 27

Thought I would
be the wind
Come and go
like leaves on
old ancient trees
keeping dreams alive
with gusts that come
sometimes out of everywhere
poem of the day April 26

I just read the news
Sunday has been sold
to pay for Monday
Peter has run out of money
can't borrow more from Paul
Banks of the River Jordan are
in danger on being drowned
by rich merchants wanting
more souls of gold to control

poem of the day April 25

Where the past
meets the future
Where the future
meets the past
is a lovely living window
where eternal life does last
Always open like the morning
Always closed like the night
A simple magic fountain
with a never ending light

poem of the day April 24

An old forest path
reveals cellar holes
now abandoned and
overgrown with time
I thought about all
the lost memories
within those many
forgotten foundations
wondering if ghosts
come out at night
to fill the past homes
with fresh laughter

poem of the day April 23

Floating in water
is easier then
floating in air
Unless one is full
of thoughts so hot
they drift up to
Catch the waiting sun
there the new danger is
is wings burning
falling deep like
Kites with no wind

poem of the day April 22

Hard pouring rain
interferes with dreams
Middle of the day dreams
shopping at the grocery store
dodging wet  mirrors of myself
surgical  masks white gloves
a few wipes hunting toilet paper
one two three pinch the tree

poem of the day April 21

A path atop a mountain
has a never ending view
A panorama of a valley
whose  floor is a pedestal
to gaze upon endless peaks
yet both are part of the same road
covered full of life's ups and downs
like dancing horses with open eyes
walking mindful on a merry go round

poem of the day April 20

The open
scent of
blooming
magnolia
looks at me
gives a wink
Sort of like
Yeah I know ya

poem of the day April 19

A great evening welcome
from an open garden
Buds are everywhere
Full of anticipation
Like good friends that
come yearly for a spring visit
and always bring a fold of  flowers
Fresh smells are in the air
with colors worthy of any nirvana
poem of the day April 18

How things
have changed
A year ago wearing
masks in public was suspicious
Was banned in most schools
even banned in whole countries
Now it is suspicious not to wear a mask in public
What happens when both these suspicions collide?

poem of the day April 17

Gambling lives
for a fist full of
someone else's
hard earned money
Is starting to form
dire bread lines where
the poor serve cake
to  other walking poor
Neither can afford shoes
I fear the guns are
are not that far behind
hiding in a long moon
impatiently waiting in scared souls
for their teams to give the go word

poem of the day April 16

The whiteness
of an April snow
differs greatly from
the stark solitude of
a cold winter storm
Life now is a springing
blooming open force
As tides of green poke
the white with watching eyes
And somewhere on
this magic carpet ride
I see the robin hunting worms
hopping across a wonder world

poem of the day April 15

Exploring a cave
a moist alluring
deep cavern
in a dream
or waking life
requires resolve
to overcome
the subterranean
claustrophobic fear
of being buried
in the tight belly
of a slippery unknown

poem of the day April 14

Social distancing
I find to be like
I am on a stage
projecting a mask
not only of fabric
but also as one
would put on
as a character
in a grand old play.
I find as I sit
on my makeshift stage
10 feet or more away
watching other performers
what they have to say
becoming a version
of the real you or me
no longer as intimate
more guarded less free

poem of the day April 13

What if
the apple tree
where the singing
Buddha used to be
falls before the fruit
Will the temple  bell
still be able
to ring in the new
or would the eternal sound
go directly into the ground?
poem of the day April 12

Daffodils in a simple vase
lighting up a darken house
like little sun muffin cakes
Their scent drifts to every pore
leaving everyone wanting more
I know what we receive from them
these petals standing proud and tall
but  I wonder what  the flowers get
from us to keep them at their best

Panic
Always
Needs
Direction
Empathy's
Magic

I'll be your cure
and you'll be mine

poem of the day April 10

A wave breaks
on a beach
tumbling over
wet coastlines
lapping the land
like drinking dogs
I see their tails wag
each time  water

darts back to the sea

poem of the day April 9

everybody
is going
to need
a hugging
somewhere
along the line
and that
sometime
my friend
will be

very fine

poem of the day April 8

A world works
in many different
arrangements
Forever swinging
back and forth
Some convenient
Some out of reach
Time seems to bridge
over all these old reunions
Waiting for the last possible second
then striking the big hand of fate
regardless of the hour of the day

poem of the day April 7

A bluebird
on an old post
sitting atop a
very fragile fence
looks around for
holes in the apple tree
in which to lay the golden egg
It makes me want to rejoice
in this sign of pure happiness
Hold hands with other hands
and join our dreams together
as we press upon the bluebird of  fortune
poem of the day April 6

A single black fly
circled my head
as I walked outside
At first it bothered me
I tried hard to slap it away
but as I passed along
new flower sprouts
the fly became a friend
that kept my company
I then began to wonder
why just a single fly?
Was it sublime sign
to help me define
these weird  times?

poem of the day April 5

Find the middle
within the endless
long lined ladder
Seek out steps
but don't' break
the golden rungs
Where to plant
your feet depends
on the red slippers
Click them twice
Close your eyes
Open the heart
But remember
Mostly you need
to really know
the where and when
to stay apart

poem of the day April 4

H-uman
U-nderstanding
G-reat
S-ociety
is based
on the
need
to touch
another
human
I hope
my HUG
reaches
YOU!

poem of the day April 3

An inside jigsaw
full of bones
and flesh
defines the limits
of a living soul
Everything is
connected like
pieces of a puzzle
Separate until
put together
to form a whole
How to assemble
this fleeting perfection
into every uniquely balanced ball
Now that is the question
we should be asking
Asking ourselves
each one and all

poem of the day April 2

Lifetimes walk
along strange
long carved roads
Each lifetime is
a new footprint
The ruts of time
are very deep
full of temptation
As you come
out of the womb
and stare down
the familiar highway
it is sometimes
hard to know
even at the end
of the journey
which path you
have followed
poem of the day April 1

Are nights
dark or light?
Are dreams
wet or dry?
Are emotions
love or war?
How the main
channel opens
Is it up to
you and me
Is the wishing
on wild mountains
on untouched valleys
the normalization
of streams in the
new field of extremes?
