poem of the day June 29
What part of humanity
is linked to anatomy?
The desire to be human
is our bond of union
To tear this apart
by the intolerance
of misled ideology
is not the recipe of equality

poem of the day June 28
The light was kind of silver
on this morning's early dawn
The sky was out so slowly
like molasses in a pie
I said to the maple
standing next to me
"Is this light
the light we see
the same for you as me?"

poem of the day June 27
Earth is
a wild place
man tries
to tame
Thinking the
self centered
importance
of his desire
can ride
any storm
such is
the mask of delusion
poem of the day June 26
If the distance
between
up and down
is the same as
the distance
between
down to up
then the difference
between the two
must depend on
the gravity of the situation

poem of the day June 25
I watched a
poplar forest grow
like tiny little embryo
been four weeks
since I'd mowed
A carpet has grown
two feet high
into the meadow
where new poplar lie
until the mower
comes round again
to ground the stalks
into nothingness Zen
poem of the day June 24
Life of a
two word
breath
forms a
beautiful
shape of
in and out
hope pray
hop ray
ho ay
h y
ho ay
hop ray
hope pray
hop ray
ho ay
h y
ho ay
hop ray
hope pray
breathe
open
breathe
close
breathe
deep
breathe
daily

poem of the day June 23
There are pounds of dust
invading from everywhere
I can see the tiny flakes
floating in the sun
No rain for weeks
The lawn is brown
lots of baked dark ground
beginning to look like brownies
Time for a serious rain dance
poem of the day June 22
A summer morning
has a certain stillness
a lazy lingering calm
different then spring
I reach and touch
the drift of long days
feeling the welcome peace
like many souls before
Sunday, June 21, 2020
poem of the day June 21
more light
more time
in which
to see
the darkness
of humanity

poem of the day June 20
Fireflies
flick light
here and there
like small stars
swimming across
the Milky Way
inside my living room

poem of the day June 19
A dog
trained
at birth
goes
into a cage
willingly
feeling safe
in the bars
that hold him
Makes me
wonder what
cages we humans
live in without
even knowing
we are prisoners

poem of the day June 18
The difference
between steps
and stairs
is the angle
of which we
walk on the
leash of time
The motion
of all things
start before
up and down
says me the
walking clown
poem of the day June 17
How still we find
an uphill climb
that reaches
toward the sun
How each step
becomes a stool
a stepping stone
a map of life
within the dawn of calm
This settled fog
on valley floor
teaches all we
need to know
of windless mornings
without a breeze
but still so full of flow

poem of the day June 16
What if the sun
was a giant fish
A whole round sailfish
full of fins of fire
shooting rays of
golden morning light
What would you do
if there was such a fish?
I know what i'd do
I would make a good wish

poem of the day June 15
Fire ants
Fire people
seems like
a lot of effort
Everybody
is biting
or boiling
everybody
A simple dance
of migration
has swollen
the virus with
bigger ideas
better ideas
then the old flag
of law and order

poem of the day June 14
So many poems
have been written
of fields of clover
A sweet purple sea
reaching over and over
Feelings full of honey bees
are in the field in front of me
and like any other lucky beholder
I begin to search for a four leaf clover

poem of the day June 13
It was a round square
edges polished with life
All the twists and turns
eventual merged into mixed light
Into one long dream sitting atop
an inner bridge like mountain
fishing for a shape born of nothingness

poem of the day June 12
I am walking
by trees
watching
the rain
as it falls
over a very dry
yesterday
Slowly time
works the water
into the ground
A natural perfection
just ask the trees
who have set down roots
and made here a home

poem of the day June 11
Up before
the birds sing
watching night
turn dawn light
I have a seat
to an everyday party
with no cover charge
except for a pound of sleep

poem of the day June 10
A fishing line
without a hook
but lots of bait
takes enormous skill
to catch your fate
poem of the day June 9
The two pebbles
lay side by side
on the river bed
One was old
water polished
One was new
with sharp edges
Yet both inside
were made of stone
Their only difference was
the skin of time

poem of the day June 8
To be a body where
all kinds of wind
swirl around
everyday
over and over
splashing across
a boat of flesh
sometimes piercing
into the mast of a soul
Some physical pressure
Some emotional tide
Some gusts of ideas
will find their way inside
I feel, you feel
But remember the wind
has a mind of its own
poem of the day June 7
The strong moral wind
is not a safe place
for a loud paper tiger
Even a house of cards
reinforced by steel wire
and someone else's bible
will not keep the tide
of change from seeping
deep into the frightened bunker
poem of the day June 6
I watched early
silver slipper shoes
disappear within
the meadow line
Each footstep
reminded me
temporarily of time
For now the steps
reflect the light
The shine of
rising dawn
And all that's left of
silver slipper shoes
are footprints full of sun
poem of the day June 5
It was funny
how the money
smelt like kangaroo
I noticed it the other day
perhaps so did you
but even in the odor
I felt the hand of greed
clap my back in a Cadillac
with a fist full more of green
Thursday, June 4, 2020
poem of the day June 4
Different shades
of green
Sun inches
over leaves
Sage into emerald
I like the shadows
as they shift from
time to time
Wednesday, June 3, 2020
poem of the day June 3
Although your feet
wear the same
pair of shoes
your mood does change
Some walks will
take you down
a rabbit hole
Some walks
will take you
to the moon
poem of the day June 2
A perfect world
round and flat
full of every other's
this or that
has now been buried
in hateful divide
love covered by rising tide
Where All souls drift fearful
somewhere on a violent sea
in an ocean teetering democracy
When searching deep for answers and clues
don't forget the mirror is you
Monday, June 1, 2020
poem of the day June 1
kernel
grain
seed
so much
potential
in something
so small
so easy
to sprout
so hard
to control
