poem of the day December 22

Many things once free

have been monetized 

Here is a small list of

things no longer given away 

now that money is prioritized:

Water needed for life

is now big business

and can cost a fortune

Book matches handed free

in every gas station are long gone 

and only found in matchbook collections

Air for your tire now costs a dollar

Road maps when you can find them 

cost more then three

And the most watched thing our beloved TV 

once full of shows in every house for free 

is way more expensive than

one could have ever imagined free to ever be

It is a sad evolution of a capitalistic society
