poem of the day January 31

Last day of
the long month
31 days of cold
day after day
time moving slowly
The disappearing dark
fighting for each
minute as January
reluctantly merges back
into the void of receding dark
Allowing more light, more rays
to ring in the bell of February

poem of the day January 30 light often

Light often
seeps in
while souls
sleep in
And when
a mind wakes
the eyes open
to the art of
joining with sight
to see as far as light

 poem of the day January

Plight of light is just
a misunderstood
harmony that comes
out of darkness
A space void of nothingness
also a virtue misunderstood
by iron men sailing ships of wood

poem of the day January 28

All journeys
Start at
the beginning
End at
the beginning
circling a temple of time
Filling a bubble
with baby volcanos
until the kundalini
finally breaks free
rushing into places unknown
awakening ancient paths'
long frozen by familiar patterns

poem of the day January 27

I wish
I lived
in a time
When words
When ideas
were young
Had not
been used
over and over
again and again
in poems written
by poets, women
and ordinary men
When each thought
was fresh, just
thought of on the spot
Brand spanking new
had not been dissected
in a million essays or two
Cause it all boils down
when refined by the math
to the first question ever asked
It was the one written
and posed throughout
all of humanity
The question of course
To Be or Not to Be?

poem of the day January 26

Sensors pop up
everywhere
Pushing into
spaces
And then just
as quickly
Pushing out
of spaces
Some go deeper
than others
but that is
the way of roads

poem of the day January 25

A sweetness
without having
a sweet scent
A divine absence
found only inside
imagination
Lingering more
from an aura
than a tangible
Yet it is a feeling of
supreme sensuality
engulfing all the mortal senses
this act of waking each day

poem of the day January 24

Objects in motion
Speed of light
very very fast
Molasses  dripping
very very slow
Tortoise and Rabbit
arrive different times
to the same place
Where the journey
of fast and slow
eventual ends
in identical stillness

poem of the day January 23 There must

There must
be a star
for everyone
who has ever
dreamed of
riding tigers on
the Milky Way
There must
be a wish
waiting on
those stars
for everyone
who believes
the imagination
of reality

poem of the day January 22

I am trying
to see
the mind
of sun
in the orange
spread of light
I feel the ball
enter my soul
warm the cold
of night
I wonder if
that is
enough
to get inside
sun time
To see
its glow
upon the snow
reflecting on
all minds

 poem of the day

Does not
feel like
any kind
of wind
is stirring
this morning
Except for
ancient gusts
trapped inside
a restless mind

poem of the day January 20

A white owl
was eaten by
a flock of sheep
It was unbelievable
Afterwards I interviewed
their chief spokes-ram
Ba Ba Black Sheep
who told me that'
shocking as it was
Every once in a while
the poles of life do flip
allowing for cracks in the road

poem of the day January 19

The American flag undulated
in a never ending pattern
of Red White and Blue
It waved up and down
under the big moon
trying to dampen
a brewing civil war
kindled by the misunderstanding
of what is Democracy

poem of the day January 18

The light of
a light bulb
The light
of the sun
Man Made
Nature Made
Artificial or Genuine
In this Unnatural Natural
ping pong game of Man versus Nature
Which master does humanity desire?
I am going to give this some
very serious consideration
but right now I don't have time
for such deep compilation
For I am in the midst of deciding
My New World Order
What to drink Soda or Water?

poem of the day January 17

Heavy snow
falling straight down
Feel the intensity
Feel how little
resistance it
gets from
the windless dawn
Inside my castle
through glazed windows
I watch the whiteout
It falls so quickly
making it hard to see
anything but the invisible
power of gravity

poem of the day January 16

The cold
came in
when not
allowed
It followed
footprints
worn down
by time
A drafted door
A rodent path
A window leak
Or attic peak
Throughout this night
the cold drifted slowly
just like Zen
into the homes
of mice and men

poem of the day January 15

It was a crazy
far fetched idea
Monetizing
the nightly dreams
of everyone
No one thought
them valuable
until someone
started selling
trademarked
Dream Vacations
Personalized
Vacations of a lifetime
a new trip every night
to a different place
in your own dreams
without ever leaving home
This super affordable vacation
to parts unknown
of course soon became
the vacation of choice
The biggest grossing
hospitality ever for
the leisure industry
Where for 4 easy payments of 49.99
you get a dreaming outfit
that to most non dreamers
looks a lot like expensive pajamas

poem of the day January 14

I lit the ceremonial
candle and it
fired up my day
I heard the flames
were from the game
that fueled eternity
It was quite a
special  spectacle
even doubting Thomas
would have to say
cause we all know
our daily flow
can go whichever way

poem of the day January 13

A beating heart
is shaped by
the soul within
Not as perfect
as a heart stone
or a valentine card
but every tick is
a living reminder of
the beating beauty of
imperfect perfection

poem of the day January 12

In a deep
winter freeze
north air
of purity
feels fresh
all encompassing
as the immortal breath
born of clean cold
untouched arctic ether
enters simple lungs
full of yesterday's
stale hot overshared air

poem of the day January 11

If perfection
is stained
we have
humans
to blame
for fiddling
with everything
under sun
and earth
Takers
we are
as we
drive in
our cars
while animals
die of thirst
We blame
all we spoil
on nature's
crude oil
but never
do we blame
ourselves

poem of the day January 10

Every man
IS an island
A water soaked
human bunch of
flesh and bones
covered by
very thin skin
Maneuvering
in a sea full
salty sandbars
Spending time
and energy
trying to keep
unsettled keels from
tipping into
other thin islands
without losing
sight of one's own shore

poem of the day January 9

The point of view
of a snowflake
is seldom
written about
and remains
a mystery
frozen within
a kaleidoscope
of atmospheric art
For instance
Does anyone
know what snowflakes
really think about
the genesis of water?

poem of the day January 8

a ladder lying
on the ground
is not so great
with up and down
If all it does
is lateral pass
the chance to change
within sideway cars
will take you only
to where you are

poem of the day January 7

Some ethereal clouds
lose their reputations
all their mojo
when they come
into vision
I was at the door
filling in for
the gatekeeper
when one of these
big huge clouds
came flying by
For a few
quick seconds
it became
crystal clear
that perhaps
I was seeing
too much detail
and not enough big picture

poem of the day January 6 On the eve

On the eve
of insurrection
Sounds like
the name of an
old protest song
One year ago
the storming
of the capital was
an American coup
but not the revolution
of Peace Love and Woodstock
I had always been expecting

poem of the day January 5

Living inside
the alternative reality
of living on earth
the delusion of the illusion
is very important
especially if we remember
the famous words
of an obscure
unknown poet
Famous people
are to follow
Famous trees
are to climb
Famous rocks
are to watch
and finally
Famous food
is to shit

poem of the day January 4

If anyone
wants
to look
for signs
I have heard
a sunrise is
a good place
to look for one
All one needs
is to get up
before the sun
and then believe
that what one sees
is what one can be

poem of the day January 3

Before
fashion
Before
fascism
the caves were
big huge bears
strutting survival
of the strong
unawares of
the power of vanity
It wasn't until the raccoons
picked up ochre
and accidentally painted man
with a bear tooth necklace
that the walls began to
decorate the mind
in a mirrored reflection
of the possibilities of power

poem of the day January 2

A focus
out of focus
was the only
lens of light
A fuzzy glow
hard to know
was waiting
in the night
All the wheels
were working good
The storm cloud
would have passed
But then Magic Jim
decided to race his sin
and came in very last

poem of the day January 1 The atmosphere

The atmosphere
New Year round
was misty cloudy
most profound
It looked a lot  like
smokey smiles
hard to see
but lasts a while
Then the rain
began to fall
big ball dropped
2021 was no more
