poem of the day January 3 

Before

fashion

Before

fascism

the caves were

big huge bears

strutting survival 

of the strong  

unawares of 

the power of vanity

It wasn't until the raccoons

picked up ochre 

and accidentally painted man

with a bear tooth necklace 

that the walls began to

decorate the mind

in a mirrored reflection 

of the possibilities of power
