poem of the day May 31

What one is
What one be
should not matter
to you or me
Why the fear
of being human
compels another
human being
to get out
of control angry
over some other
body's lifestyle
they do not hold
It is this misplaced
willingness to listen
to the devil's horn
that trumpets a world
with so much cake
into a tiny hole
of unlimited hate

poem of the day May 30

Everybody is
lined up
on either side
of the runway
full of anticipation
The electric
flying carpet
is set to debut
and will replace
the magic carpet
of flying dreams
but like all
things modern
it will now cost money
to glide through
the skies of imagination

poem of the day May 29

Sitting for sale
was an old
copper lock
Closed and keyless
but full of secrets
embossed with
the word Mars
I picked it up and felt
the ages of patina
flow into my hands
Imagining a special
love chest held safe
by this lock of Mars
once guarding the gate
of a wonderful life

poem of the day May 28

Power and freedom
like Oil and Water
don't mix
even if shaken
for many years
Once a movement
has ended
Power and Freedom
immediately
begin to separate
and like oil
Power always rises
to the top
where it eventual covers
then smothers the body of Freedom

 poem of the day

A sunny light
before sunrise
makes its way into
a dark like night
The universal waking
of morning dawn
opens early on a day
that still grows brighter
with each passing second

poem of the day May 25

The reflection
of a mind
The reflection
of a soul
differ within
a vessel
or so I am told
One is limited
in what one sees
One is unlimited
in what one can be
both are part of
you and me

poem of the day Mat 25

The exit was confused
with the entrance
so all left and came
through the same door
making for much confusion
until no one knew
after a millions miles
if they were coming or going

poem of the day May 24

Dawn to Dusk
travels around the sun
with miles and miles
of good round rays of light
that eventually lose steam
as time leads time into
Dusk to Dawn
with miles and miles
of good round rays of night
These two worlds
frame a day
like a circle of life

poem of the day May 23

Finding some room
within a room
Your own room
An inside room
somewhere in
the body room
Most likely
in the  mind room
Is hard to find in a life
cluttered with windows and doors
that pour in and out of everywhere

poem of the day May 22

It was a reunion day
at the flea
Dollar Bob
Swampy Bill
Big Pete
Alabama Joe
Lovely Linda
The Bobbsey Twins
Fleamarket wife Anne
and Jerry Richard
The same Richard that
I called Jerry
for 20 years
but still only wants me
to call him Jerry
were all out in about
on a fine spring day
setting up and buying
A ragged band of ragged souls
gathered for a treasure hunt and
a game of musical chairs

 poem of the day

The mirror appeared
like a polished lake
with nothing but
reflections of
the blue sky above
What lay under
the still water
was a mystery
hidden from everything
Reminding me
of skin deep masks
worn by all those
that live below
their outward
expressions

poem of the day May 20

The scent of lilac
drifted down the valley
The trail of perfume
clung around
hillhouse farmhouse
like a lover's dream
totally immersing
all known senses in
an aroma  as comforting
as the hands of god

poem of the day May 19

I wonder
if trees
ever complain
of their lives
Do they scream
"My god
these bugs
are fierce"
Or
"I can't believe
it is so cold
and I am not
cozy in my roots"
Or are those daily
hot and bothered
high pitched
superficial moans
solely complaints
reserved for
whining shallow people
like me and my human

poem of the day May 18

All the effort
put into
controlling
the effortless
complicates
every single life
The rules of
humanity are
nothing but
the fear of
living within
the harmony
of time

poem of the day May 17

What is so alluring
about the top
of the mountain
that would make
someone risk
their lives to
reach the summit?
What is up there
besides a view?
There are no trees
little oxygen
Just a dead place
where nothing
can grow
except human ego
Seems like
this desire of
King of the hill
was nature's way
to lead the
over driven
power hungry
self centered
away from
the lush valley below

poem of the day May 16

Streams
Human streams
A flow of emotions
the crowd
the mob
the vigils
the yoga
Some human streams
like vernal streams
bloom and dry up
Some streams
flow in  the wrong direction
Others are full of truth
both have power
especially if there
are stream islands
Charismatic souls
that siphon humanity
into raging rivers
of good and bad
The difference
hard to see becomes
known only as a stream
reaches the sea
To overcome
these waves of delusion
requires harmony swimming
Water spirituality
Strokes of
Common sense
Perfect pitch
Still the good pilot knows it will take good luck
to overcome the deep dark rapids

poem of the day May 15

Everyday gets
a twentyfour
No less
No more
like a clock
on a tiger's back
yipadee yipadee
and all of that
Running  both
fast and slow
Does depend
on how time goes

poem of the day May 14

God screamed angrily
to the fervent righteous
gathered together
by the love of hate
stuck in the bigotry
of the human race
"Listen to me
very carefully
You have all been
misled about
love, truth and
the meaning of my son
by the false words
of dinosaur men
armed only
with their own agenda
The truth is
My perfect  son
who died for your sins
is inside of us all
man woman and trangender"

poem of the day May 13

I rode a tired horse
full of loud snores
into a dream
not knowing
the lay of nightland
As I left consciousness
and drifted into sleep
a giant mountain appeared
out of nowhere
So high I had
to change my horse
into a jet plane
After flying over the mountain
I parachuted into a pristine valley
where much to my surprise
there was a fancy French restaurant
serving only platters
full of s'mores snores

poem of the day May 12

A folding chair
riding its way
on a caravan
of old highways
Where it has a seat
at every stop
At every table
it is taken out
Unfolded
to become
a sanctuary
for weary
travelers
a seat of merry
A place to rest tired bones
while traveling the road
miles from home

poem of the day May 11

What has been remembered?
What has been forgot?
What was really needed?
What was really not?
All those things
got sorted out
somewhere
along the way
And what we have
is what we got
each and every day

poem of the day May 10

The eye of
a needle
is a tiny hole
impossible to
thread with
eyes of old
This march
of time
when coffee
cost a dime
is now long gone
Yet the needle still
points north
with the help
of magnets
The same magnets
that attract and repel
the different realms
of heaven and hell

poem of the day May 9

A caretaker of time
sitting in a huge ball
full of many futures
sets the light of dawn
each new morning
with a fresh bright luster
allowing mere simple travelers
a view of  vast immortality

Monday, May 8, 2023

poem of the day May 8

A bright sun
is a good way
to start a fine day
The shine of light
reflects off everything
as the stillness of dawn
now illuminated
springs into
some eternal life
worthy of good coffee
and an open mind

poem of the day May 7

Playing with fire
of our own making
Another gun
has been shot
by another gun-handler
Like best friends
Man and Gun
are going steady
Holding triggers
Holding mental clips
full of inviting bullets
Lovers caressing
Hard steel
Soft hands
The play between
human emotion
and raw power
The need to be wanted
The need to be the party
The caress is irresistible
The temptation overwhelming
and eventually
the two lovers
of iron and flesh
entwined as one
shoot life to death

poem of the day May 6

a flight of stairs
a flute of wine
a flock of birds
a flake of time
all these sayings
put  in a row
fill the garden
where apples grow

poem of the day May 5 "I want a

"I want a
string of pearls
I want big ones
Rare ones so
I can show
my friends"
pleaded the
young soul
full of shiney
human intentions
"Do you want
inside pearls
or outside pearls?"
God asked
as he looked
over the blank
face of adolescence
knowing few
at any age
ever know of
the string of pearls
found inside

poem of the day May 4

It all comes
back to
the circle
A round
straight line
that always
ends up
exactly where
it started
at the beginning
of all things Earth

poem of the day May 3

Finding
something
lost
involves
Some looking
Some wanting
Lots  of determination
And an understanding
of what we are missing

poem of the day May 2

Monumental
monuments
Magnificent
magnifications
The close up
and personal
adoration of
the overstated
This worship of
inflated balloons
shines a spotlight
on the fancies
of hot breath
that live only
in the collective
exhale of humanity

poem of the day May 1

How crazy
is this
Free wet
Drinking Water
falling from
the sky
disguised
as rain
Tiny drops
one after
another
soak the earth
with eternal life
How clever
of the gods
to make
it seem so
natural
without
any kind
of plastic human
interference
