poem of the day September 30

Yellow leaves
Red leaves
appear together
side by side
on hillsides
full of fall colors
A big happy
wonderful
kumbaya
celebration
of inclusion
All types of trees
merging colors
to span the horizon
Seems like
the trees are trying
teach us souls
eagerly watching
the spectacular splendor
of beautiful different lives

poem of the day September 29

The way
the orange
dawn light
Big and bold
reflected off
the changing trees
Made for a colorful
sunrise which
I am happy to say
even in a land
full of greed
are still free

poem of the day September 28

shallow & deep
climbing & diving
skin to bone
All of you
in the big balloon
where to be
body between
who to be
emotionally
popular
trendy
bruise easy
deep diving
introspective
into places
abyss of
nothingness
lonely journey
all directions
within the shell
sometimes shallow
sometimes deep

poem of the day September 27

I asked
the leaves
what they
thought
of this year's
changing colors
but they were
too busy
hanging on
their trees
for dear life
to answer

poem of the day September 26

If I could be
a hermit crab
I'd want to live
somewhere glad
Somewhere in
a lovely shell
A place so safe
Where peace
does swell

poem of the day September 25

The long pier
of Puget Sound
weaves
a pathway
out into
deep water
Staying safely
above wild
moving currents
that emerge
from a sea
jumbled with life
Looking down
I notice among
the schools of fish
my own reflection

poem of the day September 23

I wonder why
the hay bales
around Sacramento
are piled so high
resembling buildings
that reach the sky
Skyscrapers
Tall towers
even the taj mahal
sit in fields
freshly plowed
Are there mice involved
or maybe some cows
inspiring these mounds
that sit so proud

poem of the day September 22

The soul
of our sun
hydrogen
imploding
into helium
like a band
on the run
Plasma mixing
in a fusion stew
a constant battle
between the two

poem of the day September 21

The problem
with looking
side to side
up and down
every which way
Is it is
often easy
to overlook
the very
familiar
obstacles
blocking
the path
in front
of you

poem of the day September 20

Somewhere on
the edge of
edginess
In the space
discomfort
lives a
hidden
sanctuary
A place
where fear
turns into
acceptance
Allowing love
to fly across
impossible
boundaries

poem of the day September 19

I do not
understand
humanity's
current lack
of compassion
If there is
more than enough
in this world
for everyone
to live a prosperous
happy life
full of riches
More than
enough wealth
for every man
woman & child
on this earth
Why is there even
the idea of
have and have nots?

poem of the day September 18

How did
it ever happen?
Everyday
the mouthpiece
of grand hate
spews mantras
of fear
jamming
the minds
of frighten souls
who only want
to live happily ever after

poem of the day September 17

I wonder
how high
that wall is
The one
that separates
fact from fiction
mind from matter
light from dark
even you from yourself

poem of the day September 16

The motion
of emotion
is a very
fine fuel
More powerful
than an
atom bomb
A constant trigger
within humanity
Always waiting
on high alert
A trigger
so explosive
so on edge
that once pulled
blows the body
up into war

poem of the day September 15 day & night

day and night
even out
a couple
of times
a year
balancing
black and white
into equal
dark and light
allowing
dawn and dusk
to be
timely near

poem of the day September 14

The palms
turn upward
embracing immortality
Allowing the ball
of life to expand
into a big bubble
Able to cover
all imperfections
found within
all mortal souls

poem of the day September 13

I wonder
if on this
arbitrary
date of
Friday the 13th
if an army of
black cats
will be
lining the roads
of humanity
waiting to jump out
to mess with
the minds of
superstitious souls

poem of the day September 12

orange sky
green land
emerging dawn
wonderful strange
early brightness
brushes the horizon
of mother earth

poem of the day September 11

some days
the light is
so beautiful
The sun
so incredible
it makes
the whole world
a better place
even for the out of place

 poem of the day September

Steps
of evolution
Stepping out
over all directions
leaving footprints
both famous & unknown

poem of the day September 8

The turkeys
are invading
Taking over
the streets
Huge mobs
of big wild birds
have set up
roadblocks
So far they
seem peaceful
But stay tune
all could change
once they
catch wind
of Thanksgiving

poem of the day September 7

It was to be the greatest collection
of meaningless but addicting
time consuming distractions
ever auctioned at a procrastination sale
A collection of lethargy meticulously assembled
over many generations of dilly-dally
It included both the common modern stuff
like facebook, ticktok, twitter and instagram
along with examples of rare antique distractions
Hard to find mostly forgotten time wasting treasures
such as telephone pole counting
incessant solitary card shuffling
impulsive checking of pocket watches
and my personal favorite
one I am planning to bid on
a mid-century time wasting masterpiece
A complete set of People magazines

poem of the day September 6

A relative
reorganizing
of relevance
into a reaction
of reasoned
renaissance
Real reminders
reevaluating
the role
of reality
on relativity

poem of the day September 5

The well dressed gentleman
arrived at the flea
with his collector dog
A rare breed of canine
that looked like a frog
The dog wandered around tables
sniffing everything he'd see
then every once in a while
he would lift his leg to pee
The dog peed only on treasures
which the well dressed man
would then pick up and pay
Turn to his dog "Good Boy" he would say

poem of the day September 4

The urge
to expand
to swell
to spread
to become
omnipresent
is a force found
throughout
the universe
In the vastness of space
it can expand forever
but trapped inside
the body of man
the urge becomes
the desire of delusion

poem of the day September 3

surrounded
by cool air
the trees
begin to
give up
on summer
one beautiful
leaf at a time

poem of the day September 2

My grandfather
always judged
the arrival of fall
of cool autumn air
by tomato skins
that after labor day
the first Monday
of September
Tomato hides
grow thick & hard
like red leather
and are only
good for sauce

poem of the day September 1

Driving by
his house
I beeped
my horn
thinking of goose
who sold his home
For years it was
my flea market form
to drive by his house
and blow my horn
But today he was gone
moved to Maine
to continue his song
as I will continue
to blow my horn
on the way
to the flea
when I pass his home
