poem of the day January 29
Sing another
song boys
the world has grown
old and bitter
Where have all
the sixties gone
long time ago
long time passing
The answer
my friend
has dropped
from the wind
So the loser now
will be losing again
Yesterday all
our troubles
were so far away
now it seems
they are
here to stay
A Google haze
is all around
Don't know
if up is down
In a white room
with black curtains
where the shadows
run from themselves
Twas then when
the hurdy greedy girly man
came singing songs of hate
Whatever it is, that girl
put a spell on democracy
Where have all the flowers gone
When will we ever learn
When will we ever learn?

poem of the day January 27
Waterdown water
was sweeping
over the nation
like a wet flood
Water connoisseurs
everywhere were touting it
as extra refreshing
thirst quenching
perfectly saturated
with hints of H2O
that streamed over
the palette divinely
but not in a overly
waterlogged way
The difference was so subtle
so easily overlooked
courses were needed
on how to correctly
sip the waterdown water
for without expert instruction
it was impossible to taste the difference

poem of the day January 23
Five planets
all lined up
and hanging
in a row
were looking down
at Michelangelo
What we see
in this mortal man
they all agreed
Depended on
the color
of Saturn bands
Jupiter twirling
nearby added
to the rest
Remember
Michelangelo's
the one who painted
the chapel
Not the one
who ate the apple

poem of the day January 21 Around the
Around the
Little Big Horn
the warriors
of the Sioux
hiding in drifting snow
floated across
the frozen highway
Riding on the wind
toward the direction
of three wise crows
eating fresh road kill
As I drove by them
the crows looked up
with their black beaks
before flying off
toward the river
reminding me
of spirits of the past

poem of the day January 20 We are
We are
now officially
in the world
of zombies
run by well
dressed crazy
Toxic greed has become
a national obsession
The new motto
Divide and Conquer
is designed for cruelty
Its preamble is
to screw as many
souls as possible
To treat neighbors
To treat less fortunate
as national enemies
The faces of anger & scared
have merged together
into an American expression
that can only be described
as cheerfully ominous
God save the queen

poem of the day January 14
The midnight light was
so very daylight-ish
so brightly delicious
to hear coyotes
yipping to the Wolf Moon
Their serenade began
to reflected off the snow
as I peered out the window
just in time to see
all the sugar maples
illuminated by moonlight
listening like trees

poem of the day January 11
Driving by
our great
American flag
I noticed
the strips
were almost
touching ground
as if they
had been
purposely lowered
below half mast
It made
wonder if
our nation
in its history
to punctuate
lost direction
during really
dark times
had also flown
our great flag
well below
normal mourning
of a human being
to signal the possible death
of our democratic nation

poem of the day January 10
If the machines
with our blessings
make life so easy
So effortlessly easy
they gradually
without us knowing
take over everything
Where in time even the last seemingly
impregnable human strongholds
will be worn down and overcome
by smart machine invasive perfection
What if they become better sports fans than us
What if they believe in God better than us
What if machines become more human than us

poem of the day January 9
In an
unsettled world
out of balance
Water & Fire
don't mix
and become
Floods & Infernos
Rich & Poor
abandon God
turning themselves into
Greed and Despair
Yet within these opposites
the extreme climate
of Mind and Matter
has somehow grown together
into storms & smart bombs
blurring the lines of
Unnatural and Natural disasters

poem of the day January 6
The light shop
was huge
Full of all kinds
of illumination
Every type
Every shape
of bulbs
imaginable
There were
salt lamps
cat lamps
lights for trees
lights for walks
flash lights
hanging lights
even light meters
to measure light
But when
a blind stranger
walked in asking
How much light
is needed
for enlightenment?
Not one soul
in the entire store
full of bright lights could answer

poem of the day January 3
The giving river
attempts to tame
water forever within
its ragged lips
The flow inside
its grooved funnel
slides down
seemingly
very bounded
by rocky edges
Yet unlike
all fish forever
swimming
bank to bank
over a lifetime
The water of a river
has no limits
no master
and is free
at any moment
to overflow the wall
with its effortless eternity
