poem of the day October 23

The river
was
down
to a
trickle
of its
former
self
Rocks
that
thrived
under
water
were
baking
in the
drought
strong
Sun
The poor
Fish
were
long gone
Or
struggling
in
stagnant
puddles
Only
the main
channel
still had
enough
water
to sit
by and
watch
the river
flow
