poem of the day October 27

“A thousand
miles of
fortune
lies
just
above
the road”
The stranger
said
to the maiden
as he
handed
her
his rose
“Don’t get
pricked
by someone
else's
thorns”
He warns
as she
looks
away
Flower
in hand
reaching
for the
future
but
forgetting
to put
on
her
gloves
