poem of the day May 14

Asparagus so strange a stalk
only here until July 4th
Every year in early May
arrows appear from sandy-clay
green spears full of vitamins
an acquired taste for many men
But nirvana for those who claim
the recipes to seal its fame
So short a season, does not last
Oh how I love my asparagus
