poem of the day May 9

It was a rock away
no matter how you rolled it
Venus on one side
Mars on the other
Bouncing balls
spinning like tops
playing ping pong in the early twixt of dusk
made me think of all the space
between here and there
between right and wrong
between truth and delusion
The Earth felt like old Romans
willing to leave home
Willing to conquer the idea of god
thought to be festering
inside of planetary souls full of imagination and gravity
It was all very sad when
the stars came back into the night sky with nothing
but the spoils of war
