Preoccupation
had clogged
all paths of light
The elephants had
taken over the road
and were waiting
at the fork where
ten thousand pound canaries
full of clipped wings
gave out bad advise
to passing gorillas
dressed nice for boredom
Above them all was
the weathered sign
on the ancient hanging tree
