poem of the day January 18

The rooms inside
many houses
are connected
by long hallways
full of clutter
It had taken years
of neglect before
anyone noticed
By then the old floors
cracked under their own weight
It was hard to
get from one place
to another without
stubbing your toes
or twisting in pain
from lack of oxygen
All knew it was not easy
to be an old house
but few were able
to do much
except live
in a room or two
