poem of the day August 31

Seems like

a lot of deer
have been
meeting
on the road
taking every
opportunity
to hang on
the asphalt
having fun
playing chicken
as the wild cars
drive on by

poem of the day August 30

A thunder dusk

now late enough
for dark clouds to
blend well into night
Soft sounds tumble louder
Storm moving closer
Lightning streaks the sky
I see the trees begin to bounce
up and down in lively shadows
I feel their sway of anticipation
as heavy rain washes over Camelot
Faster than the black of night

poem of the day August 29

The lost

glasses of
perfection
were finally found
near the old ruins
within the sea of eternity
All could tell by
the perfect light
the glasses
had been used
for centuries
Instead of recovering
the visions
of the visionary
the clear lenses
of clarity
were put on display
for all to see
in the museum
of grand perfection
where they have
remained hidden
in plain sight till this very day

poem of the day August 28

A dog lives

a short life
full of adventure
but short on
longevity
Too short for
man's best friend
Hard for us humans
to lose our most
unconditional lovers
to this one fatal flaw
of a dog's otherwise
perfect  life

poem of the day August 27

Flock of birds

School of fish
A lone seal
swimming
as a boy fishes
Where does
the tides go
in moments
like these?

poem of the day August 26

glass like water

quiet slack tide
glistens under
the rising sun
waiting for time
to change direction

poem of the day August 25

We are now

a hypocrite nation
full of values
spouted by
immoral people
pretending to
be moral
A TV show
of absurd birds
like vultures
with expressions
only found on
wolfs wearing
the fine silk
stolen from
hard working
brainwashed beings

poem of the day August 24

Summer is drifting by

The world is drifting by
I see the hesitation
through the masks
of Romeo and Juliet
The bravado of fear
The submission of fear
Time rides over the long days
anticipating an eruption
A hurricane of humanity
that even Shakespeare
dared not dream about

poem of the day August 23

Two bears

in a meadow
Mother and children
enjoying a lazy afternoon
Wildlife up close and personal
I tried to take a picture
but I ruined the magic moment
for both them and me

poem of the day August 22

As day closes

night awakes
exhaling  dusk
I watch the calmness
seep into my soul
feeling humbled by
the smallness
of my own breath

poem of the day August 21

 How dreams

emerge from
random thoughts
to become
grand epics
larger than life
does not matter
What matters
is remembering
bits of wisdom
from these dreams
Bits that linger for a while
Especially the ones
that make you smile

poem of the day August 20

Silent light
born of night
I hear the birds
sing this song
Each and every
early morn

poem of the day August 19

Night settles into

the vast sky
like a tide
with no waves
Dark starts in the shadows
Then grows stealthy over
long open meadows
The blackness eventually
becomes omnipresent
until a thin light ribbon
of distant stars
appears as dots of yang
on the deep skin of yin

poem of the day August 18

If I was a drop of water

I would like to fall as rain
Feel the dry earth as I tumble
with a bunch of wet others
in a slippery slide down a hill
At the bottom of a valley
I would jump into a stream
to surf around some wild rocks
until I reached the sea
from where I'd feel the oneness
of an ocean filled of me

poem of the day August 17

The debutantes

were driving
down the long
and open road
They were flirting
with perfection
a heavy hearted load
They danced around
the circle likes bulls
before the fight
both armed with
foolish arrows
full of temporary light
The bow pulled back
The strike began
hard so very cold
and where they hit
they did not miss
their mark
or so I'm told

poem of the day August 16

A man's word

does not mean
much of anything
if lies are allowed
to be mainstream
If there is no truth
there will be sides
that collide on paths
even the ones less taken

poem of the day August 15

Why some light

in some places
is enough to
light the dark
but is unable
to shine a path
through the bright sun
is a mystery of sorts
I am sure many a mouse
has contemplated this very paradox
while eating well cooked
summer coated french fries

poem of the day August 14

Somewhere

before tomorrow
after yesterday
everyone rides
a magic carpet
on a journey
so sublime
it takes an
eternity of time

poem of the day August 13

Somewhat

Somewhere
perhaps maybe
Land is bigger
than Fan
Where to stand
Where to dress
What to wear
I hear there is
a new style
of old patterns
somewhat out
somewhere

poem of the day August 12

Cricket  smoke

in a dawn
lite house
The only sound
before the birds
I close my eyes
and try to ride
the lovely song
of cricket live

poem of the day August 11

I wonder

if tides will
once again
rush the
red shores
of Mars
and allow
a swim for
those who
dream of
jumping in

poem of the day August 10

The blue appears

upon the sky
A hummingbird
darts over
berry prongs
I hear a sleepy owl
give one final hoot
It says:
The green earth
is very full
like swollen love
on summer hill

poem of the day August 9

A spiral walks

on a branch of time
moving out towards
the universe
Leaves fluttering
from within
I see the seed
leave the limb

poem of the day August 8

light of  candle

light of  word
light of song
light of moon
light of sun
light all hearts
with rays of one

poem of the day August 7

Summer band, summer land
Phlox running with fox
Bears burning bushes
Butterflies as teachers
I am a milkweed meadow
watching my seeds float
like sugar dust on morning dew

poem of the day August 6

I am looking

at an old
Ivory Buddha
Wondering
about the soul
of the poor
dead elephant
Wondering if
the Buddha
in some way
was the elephant
Wondering how
an sacred image
of eternal life
So serene
So peaceful
So enlightened
could possibly be
after such a cruel
and awful destiny

poem of the day August 5

The power company
was here a week
trimming  limbs
Mostly drinking coffee
along the line
They left
but forgot
the lone one tree
that dropped the wire
to the ground
Now the power does not work
as I wait to write my poem
I think of what the moral might be
perhaps it is the destiny
of some wire and a lonely tree

poem of the day August 4

I have to say
rain on a dog walk
is not as fun as eating
dogs on a boardwalk
poem of the day August 3

The flash of dawn
comes out of the east
with a pleasing light
I am outside trying
to feel the moment
of night to day
with a cup of coffee
poem of the day August 2

A stacking soul
full of each other
One inside another
Each opens emotions
like troubled kings
living in paradise
All fighting within
Hard to tell which
skin is heaven
which skin is sin

poem of the day August 1

The flash of dawn
comes out of the east
with a pleasing light
I am outside trying
to feel the moment
of night to day
with a cup of coffee
poem of the day July 31

New day fresh
Night forgotten
except for those
dreams that linger
once in a while
in the very early light
before the day turns on
