poem of the day March 28
The magnolia
had suffered in
the last big storm
Branches swollen
with buds broken
Bogged down
by heavy snow
Snapped and lay
where they had fallen
two weeks ago
It looked sad
and in need
of first aid
But I have say
after all my
prunning effort
it looked happy
and I swear
I heard
the magnolia
whisper to the wind
something about
a bouquet of scented flowers
for the help of human

poem of the day March 22
The subtle difference
was almost imperceptible
Impossible to tell
with the naked eye
but it did not matter
Almost perfect
Perfect almost
washed over
the lives of
all imperfect souls
bogged down
by the weight
of their own imperfection
leaving little time
for anyone to care about
the differences

poem of the day March 17
After a big storm
with lots of time
for reflections
I have come
to understand
we have
all moved on
from independence
to dependence
Few mountain men
live in caves
hunting wild minds
We have been tamed
into a delusion of self
that relies on the silent
overwhelming sounds
of short and long waves
that clap without hands

poem of the day March 16
A storm to remember
Another story to be told
An adventure to embellish
sitting old by the stove
Each time in the telling
the storm tale will grow
deeper and deeper
now with miles of snow
Remembering how
it covered the house
with drifts so grand
even the trees needed
ladders to stand
from where all could see
into the eye of a town
as the storm of the century
whipped up and down

poem of the day March 15
White out blizzard
No power
Huddled by the
Wood stove
Happy for heat
Happy for
Gas cooking
Oil lamps
Plenty of food
Bathtub of water
Snow falling
fast and wet
Biggest storm
of the year
Beautiful outside
Sort of peaceful inside
in an old fashion way
Time slows down slowly
Nothing to do but watch
the snowflakes fall
poem of the day March 14
Theh old road
has finally
be reopened
New tar covers
the ancient path
Time has been refinished
What remains for all to see
are a few ancestral trees
and a never ending direction
Everything else is buried
but not forgotten
I wonder about
the first travelers
when the road was new
Did they ever think of the future?

poem of the day March 13
There is nothing
more wasteful
than war
A waste
of blood
A waste
of treasure
A waste
of resources
A gigantic
waste of time
War is
the biggest
polluter of
the planet
The biggest threat
to the environment
The biggest threat
to good health
But mostly
The biggest threat
to both inner and outer peace
Something no one
says they ever want
yet like human moths
we are trapped
by the titillation
will of power
imposible to move away
from what kills us

poem of the day March 12
Overcoming inertia
usually takes a period
of divine procrastination
needed to build up
the incredible feeling
of exquisite stagnation
where one feels guilty
of everything
It is a journey that
eventual ends when
the cosmic pressure
of running out of time
forces one into
the grand art of starting

poem of the day March 8
I wonder if
the maple trees
know I think
about them
all the time
Contemplating
how they feel
What they see
Who they know
What they had for dinner
Countless inspirations
as they stand there
outside my window
in all kinds of moods
and weather
I am particular interested
if anytime over the years
any have ever contemplated me

poem of the day March 5 Preoccupation
Preoccuption
can be so distracting
Full if things consuming
mindless clutter
deadline clutter
sports clutter
But especially
Social Clutter
Allowing little time
for real reflection
of even knowing
the real you
the real you
The need to polish
the balloon with
a cream of yourself
is different than filling
the balloon with cream

poem of the day March 2
Some birds
squawk louder
than others
Are they just
a bunch of
hot chickadees
letting off steam
or do they have
something
important to say?
I see a lot
of loud people
mostly politicians
dressed like peacocks
screaming on TV
passionately spouting
words of no importance
and I am wondering
if our winged friends
are of our same feather
perhaps the answer lies
in more exploration of
the avian human connection
while we all fly around the world
looking like dodo birds

poem of the day March 1
Absorbing humanity
with snipants of lives
overheard in random
long travel lines
give a true glimpse
of the human circle
More real
More authentic
than watching
the world through
the posted lens of social ego
Here in the trenches
of a genesis journeys
the unvarnished apple
still has not been cleaned of worms
