poem of the day November 30 

Thumbs on

the scale

from so 

many years

of pushing

down on

the system

have led

to systemic

pressures

like racism

which have 

burrowed 

so deep into

the American

consciousness 

that the flaws in

our foundation

are now an

undetectable 

part of all of us

Making it impossible

to understand 

the true balance 

of compassion

Where even those

who believe 

they are full of

unconditional love

are thrown off balance

by inherited  bias 

without even knowing
