poem of the day March 31

Everyday for years
I have driven by
the American flag
The red white and blue
is a good old friend
in all kinds of weather
I enjoy watching it
wave free along the highway
Sometimes slack
Sometimes unfurled
I have seen it
blown in all directions
But today’s wind
twisted it upside down
into perhaps the metaphor for
a strange twisted America
