poem of the day August 12

Watching the rafts on the river
that have appeared out of nowhere
replacing the calm with chaos
The water is now a parade of happy tourists
Red hats, Yellow hats, Black hats
One raft after another
like an afternoon movie
I look to the rock
where the scared fat boy
on the bank is
about to jump the cliff
for the first time
"You can do it"
his father shouts
"Three, Two, One
JUMP!"
The boy jumps
The rafts all clap
He gets to the bank
Proud smile the size of a mile
"I'm going to do it again"
he shouts to all
How did all this happen?
The solitude of the river has been
replaced by a cluster of wet humanity
I am then handed the surreal grape
reminding me
that life is full of great moments
when you least expect them
