poem of the day August 4

The railing on the bridge
was of the ugliest design
It was only built with safety first
aesthetics never entered the builder's mind
Soon nobody wanted to cross
the stark steel lifeless design
Yet over time a vine did grow
as pretty as could be
and eventually the bridge was covered with
the most beautiful green ivy
Over many years the railing
gained international fame
People came far and near
to cross the river Seine
But when a school bus
full of children crashed
into the famous landmark vine
those souls inside were very glad
the builder only had safety in his mind
