poem of the day June 30

Do we inherit
something from
each single day?
Are we influenced
by every sun and rain?
The waves tumble endlessly
out of of the sea
wash over the shore
This wet and dry
This black and white
carry the possibilities
that float within the broth of life
And like all ingredients
they add flavor to the daily stew

poem of the day June 29 The deer

The deer
are so
friendly
this year
So brazen
So confident
as they
leisurely walk
around my garden
like they own the place
I wonder if they
now consider man and deer
to be best friends
and are showing
their heartfelt appreciation
as they stroll  around eating
all the exotic fancy flowers
provide at great expense

poem of the day June 28

All those lights
from dull to bright
have the power to
illuminate  the dark
Where change is
easily seen
like salt dropped
into a pristine lake
transforms every
single drop of freshwater
But I want to know
of all those lights
from dull to bright
Which one has the power
to illuminate what is already light?

poem of the day June 27

There were
not enough souls in
prewar Germany'
during the 1930's
warning of the
slow but steady
decline of democracy
Their voices were
drowned out by
the mighty growing schism
born of disinformation propaganda
that led that world
into the darkest days of fascism
History is now trying to repeat itself
with another grand lie of ugly fate
Better wake up people
before it's too late

poem of the day June 26

A step
is just
a step
It has
no direction
Is only able
to move
one foot
after another
like a well
oiled machine
covering space
without a master
Where it travels
is up to the walker
who has the power
to control the steps
toward destiny

poem of the day June 25

Wearing
the wheel
of life
Driving with
long handles
on roads
full of
adventure
A bag packed
A few snacks
Some good friends
And enough
mind to enjoy
the ride

poem of the day June 24

The drizzle
like all change
begins
with only
a single drop
falling so slowly
the dry earth can
shake it off
until the heavens
spill into a steady rain
then the dry becomes wet
The earth accepts it's fate
better than me who wanted
a sunny day for the flea

poem of the day June 23

If time was just a circle
that remains unbroken
An everlasting beat
of round and round
Time will begin
Time will end
repeating itself
at almost the same place
as it spirals on and on
but if the circle
becomes broken
and time shoots out
into a line
Will it have
an ending or beginning?
or would time just be
the fuel expanding eternity?

poem of the day June 22

The intersection
of all roads
The crossroads
The Place
where highways
pass over
each other
in a big living jumble
Coming together
from different directions
passing through the center
A time to seek
A time to mix
A time not to mix
A time of uncertain change
The crossroads of life
where X marks the spot

poem of the day June 21

Big fish
in small ponds
have a hard time hiding
especially
from themselves
One time I saw
a giant grouper
in a tiny puddle
lookup with
big puckered lips
that said it all

poem of the day June 20

The miracle
of a row of life
magically appearing
in a garden
after a good rain
is the simple pleasure
of fire and water
stirring  deep into
the souls of waiting seeds
Reminding me that
the complimenting of
usually conflicting forces
is as powerful
as the clash of opposites

poem of the day June 19

The next flower in bloom
for the spring summer jamboree
is the beautiful lovely peony
a flower of great prosperity
Gook luck hangs on soft June wind
for anybody close to the scent of  them
red white and sometimes very pink
An aroma with a sweet pungent ring
a fitting bouquet from the flower king

poem of the day June 18

Last night
I watched the movie
of Woodstock
The director's cut
200,000 young souls
of my generation
expressing peace love
and harmony
listening to music
while mostly naked
Young souls dancing around
a muddy field
in bodies buff
muscles of steel
It was then I came
to the realization
How time changes
body and mind
How the bodies of youth
at the end of the 60's
were mostly skinny and fit
with very few tattoos
Now fifty years later
today's young generation are
fat, obese with skin painted hues

poem of the day June 17

As the exhauted traveler
in a long endless line
of exhausted travelers
walked through the final door
Gravity was waiting
"Up the mountain or
Down the valley"
The weary soul
feeling the pressure
of other weary souls
looked over the horizon
The mountain was beautiful
The valley was beautiful
but after climbing for a lifetime
in only one direction
the traveler likes most tired travelers
looked up only at the peaked summit
like it was an ordained struggle
"Mountain" the tired traveler
sighed without conviction
beginning the first steps of the same old journey
resigned to more suffering
"Are you sure?" Gravity asked with compassion
before turning to question the next soul in line

poem of the day June 16

The UFOs
are coming
to Earth
They are
going to be
revealed any day
You can tell by
the way mainstream news
keeps running stories
once regulated to
the tabloids
I wonder if
We will like them?
Will they like us?
Find out soon
the UFOs are coming

poem of the day June 15

Playing with fire
Playing as Rome
burns wild and savage
The great light
of humanity
in the hands
of madmen
becomes a torch
to all things normal
These flames
of disinformation
at some point
become so hot
even smart water
from the deep
pure well
can not put out

poem of the day June 14

There are
just too
many chiefs
with too many fiefdoms
Being defended
by too many guns
All shouting
in a rage
of emotions
with a voice
only of power
Not a voice
of compassion
Of right and wrong
Does anyone
really believe
in this 21th century
environment
that the meek can
still inherit the earth?

poem of the day June 13

The trees march
without moving
even one step
They travel
each and every
single season
Dressed up
for summer parties
Stripped naked
for long winter sleeps
I am watching them now
delighted to be showering in
the late spring rain
preening their leaves
getting ready for the sun
Happy to be everywhere

poem of the day June 12

Change
on the range
where sane
and insanity
do grow
Where seldom
is seen
inside the dream
as truth is removed
from the well
An irrational tide
is covered by lies
that hide in the
cracks of us all
There change
changes names
becomes rearranged
and is sold to
lost souls as they fall

poem of the day June 11

The old family
cooking pot
handed down
through generations
held all kinds
of delicious memories
full of great intangible ingredients
like love and care
Recipes remembered  with
Each clove of garlic
Each new buttery rue
as the old pot sizzles
in the kitchen
surrounded by tradition
Perhaps your family
has an old pot too

poem of the day June 9

Acknowledging how
beautiful the struggle
of water and fire can be
The rain came down
on the metal roof
The sun was warm
and wet from breaking through
It took a while for the clouds
to retake the darkness
Then the rain fell hard and big
until the sun again returned
so Lee and I could searched for worms

poem of the day June 9

The rain washed
the fire sky
fast and heavy
letting all
the bubbles
fall to the earth
allowing all
boys and girls
out for a breath
of fresh air

poem of the day June 8

The air from
far away
brings
smoke ash
into the lives
of innocents
You can see it
on the horizon
Makes me wonder
what else
invisible
seeps down
Perhaps emotions
like unsettled fear
hang in the same wind

poem of the day June 7

The rise and fall
of happiness
within a human sea
is like a leaky boat
swimming through
High wire waves
Big blocks of ice
Shark infested waters
armed only with the courage
of a confidant knell
and a good bucket
to keep a soul happy
within the walls
of unpredictable emotions

poem of the day June 6

Zen Nez
smelt
the fine
perfume
Nez Zen
purified
the scent
After going
back and forth
for many lifetimes
of endless distillation
a single fragrance
finally emerged
to uncover the Way
of a single mind

poem of the day June 5

Round and round
the hawks did glide
into circles
in the sky
they came around
in loop de lou
i felt their wind
and so did you

cold june rain

poem of the day June 3

As soon as mankind
had taken its
very first steps
into a very long tunnel
and saw a far away dim light
The philosophers
were already philosophising
The talking heads
were already talking
The professors
were already pontificating
Yet no one traveling
in any direction
on any road
at any time
Not even the most
expert experts
could tell of
the origin of  light
Making it hard
to know if
the luster of life
was really
A Dark Light
OR
A Light Dark

poem of the day June 2

Light can travel
deep into a forest
on a clear afternoon
where the rays
of a strong sun
sparkle like fine
glitter on a rhinestone
allowing the fairies
living in the woodlands
a beautiful luster
in which to dance for joy

poem of the day June 1

Planting a seed
in a summer garden
with the potential
to grow to fruition
Into the food we eat
depends only on
weather and soil
Planting a seed
in an august mind
depends on the fragile
climate of humanity
where ideas have to
grow within the struggle
of fear and anger
always dependent on the
wavey war of emotions
that expand with or without
any thought of sunlight
or the food we eat
