poem of the day August 23

I was sad to see
an orange dot
on a highway tree
It had grown among
the traffic jams
between the lines
of moving cars
in the center of the great divide
It had grown so high
very full with a canopy
that touched the sky
It brought beauty to an ugly road
But now it was to be cut down
and I want to know what exactly for

It makes no sense just like a useless war
