poem of the day December 31

Ice melts
into a strange
surrender
on the last day
of an ending year
December snow
has vanished toward
thin nothingness
Evaporating the breath
as it inhales
a last reminder
of lost time
Hours before
the clock exhales
uncertain of the new future

poem of the day December 30

Rare falling
December rain
defies winter's
cold breath
Morning opens
a soft moving fog
in a stately manner
The calm way
of small gentle
cat like drips
invites stillness
within & without

poem of the day December 29

How did it happen?
Hot gas driven by big egos
is forcing itself into
a puffed up grand delusion
Expanding the house of cards
with its fragile paper walls
well over their natural
constitutional limits
and into the red danger zone
of a nation already boiling its bubble

poem of the day December 28 The Way of puzzle

The Way of puzzle
starts with piece after piece
tossed out of a box
spread out on a table
all shapes and sizes
randomly scattered in chaos
fine paintings of all sorts and kinds
waiting to be found by eagle eyed minds
then placed by seasoned hands
sometimes working  hours overtime
assembling all pieces into a grand whole
So very Zen and the only way now or then
to put humpty dumpty back together again

poem of the day December 27

If you chase
a dream and
it begins to dim
It’s time to change
the course within
If the light you seek
does not seek you
don't play the game
of peek a boo
Find your center
hold what's true
then the light
will come to you

poem of the day December 26

I didn't win
the lottery
Maybe you
didn't win too?
I am not a newly
minted billionaire
buying ridiculous
Peacock coats
Trips to outer space
An ambassadorship
to some grand island
I know nothing about
But for a few moments
I did feel the greed
of unlimited midas desire
Maybe you did too?

poem of the day December 25

the aftermath
of a wild
raging river
full of happy rapids
has stormed down
breaching the stairs
in awe and wonderment
leaving all with big happy
smiles from coast to coast

MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR
THOSE THAT BELIEVE
MERRY HAPPINESS
FOR THOSE THAT DON'T
CAUSE MERRY IS MERRY
THE MOOD AND THE POINT

poem of the day December 24

Has anyone
ever wondered
what happens
when an old house
built in the wrong place
with a mountain of memories
saturated deep into its beams
is taken down to make way for the new
and the antique patinated wood
is recycled into modern furniture
Does anything old
Does anything gold
left from the lives
of those who called
that house a home
live on and survive?

poem of the day December 23

Behold
The roll
of cold
covers all
as it flows
down the road
At minus one
fingers are numb
bird are huddled
waiting for sun

Sunday, December 22, 2024

poem of the day December 22

the idea
of stillness
is easy
to see
even feel
by looking
at cold
frigid trees
standing stoic
in the arctic air
It makes one
appreciate
the moment
of stark quiet
December solitude

poem of the day December 21

Shortest of days
Longest of nights
a yearly celebration
taking place today
at the darkest hour
When the old dim candle
finally burns out
all of last of year's light
Plunging the earth
into the solitude of winter
but do not fear
even in this moment
a candle reborn
flickers the wilderness
with new beginnings
as virgin light shines the mind

poem of the day December 20

SOS Help!
I don't know
what to do
My new
smart oven
is having
a nervous
breakdown
and is in need
of a good therapist
The oven
just beeped
warning me
that soon
it would
beep again
to warn me
an alarm would
go off when
my pie was done
I have to say
I am on edge with
the oven's constant OCD
omnipresent beeping
If this is the way
of the smart future
It is making me
very nervous
for the mental health
of robots and droids

poem of the day December 19

finding long ideas
in small minds
is harder than
losing long minds
in small ideas
BUT
finding long ideas
in small minds
is easier than
losing long minds
in small ideas

poem of the day December 18

the atmosphere
is a sphere
circling round
far and near
permeates all
sky to ground
inside outside
everywhere around
mixing auras
drink of soul
changes often
so I'm told

Tuesday, December 17, 2024

poem of the day December 17

A still dawn
fresh new air
visiting from
somewhere else
covers everything
with a more quiet
silent breath
lending itself
very well
as a catalyzed
for a whole day
of introspection

Monday, December 16, 2024

poem of the day December 16

The order different
The different order
of spoken words
of words spoken
often is, is often
a meaning changed
a changed meaning
between somewhere
somewhere between
wrong right
right wrong
light dark
dark light
big long shots
shots long big
fork by road
road by fork
hardly working
working hardly
early late
late early
bitter sweet
sweet bitter
sitter baby
baby sitter
zoo crazy
crazy zoo
who cares
cares who?

poem of the day December 15

pretending to
be in a lush
beautiful garden
while living
in the middle
of a dry scorched
rainless desert
takes a lot
of precious water
from somewhere else
to make up the difference

Saturday, December 14, 2024

poem of the day December 14

Pretty soon
if left unchallenged
I have a fear
there will be
nothing to do
for anyone
but to sit around
in some soft chair
watching a screen
playing nonstop
over and over
in some dystopian
grand world of
dead minds & bodies
voiding us of all things human

Friday, December 13, 2024

poem of the day December 13

If you
really think
very deeply
about things
like pet hamsters
circling a cage
then you will
quickly understand
that walking & running
while going nowhere
miles everyday on
some treadmill machine
never gets you anywhere

Thursday, December 12, 2024

poem of the day December 12

I am watching
as the earth
opens its
morning eye
Slowly allowing
feathers of light
to emerge
like a curtain
rising for a play
Everything once
held behind  the blind
no longer is bounded
by the will of night
empowering great waves
to break out into day

Wednesday, December 11, 2024

poem of the day December 11

It was a very
specialized job
Searching for
needles in
a haystack
Yet day after day
stalk after stalk
Workers plowed
through wheat stubble
shifting oat canes
Never giving up
the grand folly
Content to
toil tirelessly
Trying to find
something not
worth finding

Tuesday, December 10, 2024

poem of the day December 10

lost ideas
within a mind
forgotten thoughts
adrift and gone
off course waves
that disappear
many times
throughout the years

Monday, December 9, 2024

poem of the day December 9

I am
listening
very carefully
to the trees
trying to hear
the words
they use
to express
their inner light
but so far
all I hear
are peaceful
sounds of silence

poem of the day December 8

A lite light
was able
to expelled
long dark night
With some help
from bright snow
Fallen yesterday
on earth below
Joined together
to illuminated
grey filled dawn
and be my inspiration
for a winter poem

Saturday, December 7, 2024

poem of the day December 7

light cold
large flakes
as soft
as whispers
fall silently
on yesterday's snow
comforting the past
kindly like only
good friends can

poem of the day December 6

The merging
went beyond simply
revolving around
another lost sun
The light of that universe
decorated the long night
with strings of pearls
seen from mountains
light years away
The shortened day
help extend the life
of the Milky Way
almost to the dawn
where the merge was
faithfully watched by me
my dogs and 3 house plantsoe

Thursday, December 5, 2024

poem of the day December 5

A silent snow
falls soft & still
on a windless night
covering big trees
in a white blanket
of calm serenity
spreading peace
out into the lighted
mind of early dawn

Wednesday, December 4, 2024

poem of the day December 4

The turkeys
seem to be
quite confused
gathered together
in a large pack
by the fork
in the road
I hear them
gobble gobbling
frantically calling
to each other
trying to decide
which way
is the road
worth traveling

poem of the day December 3

Master said
a trombone
full of too
much ambition
too much fire
plays only
quick & squeaky
out of tune notes
that do not
balance life
nor stand
the test of time

Monday, December 2, 2024

poem of the day December 2

The evening
parade
of stars
controlled
yesterday's sky
with their
lights of
brightness
Like good friends
in sparkling lighthouses
These far away worlds
twinkle in strange reality
Shining each night
from places seen
but never visited

poem of the day December 1

What color
is the light of
primordial sin?
Where does
it bloom
or first begin?
Is it somewhere
near Applegate
the tree of life
of original fate
There redbird shines
a certain hue
to color the colorless
hiding inside the view

poem of the day November 30

The mirrored face
looked back
and stared
right into
the eyes
with all
those things
we see within
the makeup
of our lives
What we are
reflected back
in secrets to the soul
Where one by one
the mirror taps
but only if one holds

poem of the day November 29

No more
tea leaves
to tell fortunes
Modern day
fortune tellers
especially
California psychics
are now using
worn pairs of shoes
to predict the future
by where a sole has traveled
using the karma of each passed step
to divine the inevitable
path forward of all wandering souls

poem of the day November 28

Somehow
in the middle
of the night
A sleeping farm
has turned all white
Snow has covered
the green remains
of yesterday's grass
on summer terrain
The change came quick
without a sound
as big white flakes
fell to the ground
And all my thoughts
are now very littered
Could this snow be
the start of winter?

Wednesday, November 27, 2024

poem of the day November 27

those rivers
swollen after
yesterday's rain
so wet and
full of water
have mostly drained
the saturated  sky
giving dawn light
a chance to break open
the last of the moist clouds
eventual allowing the sun to shine

poem of the day November 26

Gold Gold Gold
Everybody wants it
The good, bad, greedy
Even those who shun
the limelight of glitter
are smitten with the shine
It is the power color
where carats of coal
turned gold over time

poem of the day November 25

I find it very
very strange
very unsettling
the priorities
now embraced
by a new humanity
How Mankind has
no problem making
more and more
lethal weapons
of mass destruction
able to indiscriminately
kill thousands at a time
for the game of war
without much thought of
collateral damage
Yet when it comes
to he-man macho sports
like gladiator football
the world has become
extremely obsessed
about preventable injuries
going to great lengths
to emasculate the game
with new rules and safety equipment
Watering down human sacrifice
so no one gets hurt on Sunday
turning the once violent game
into games of Mary had a little lamb
All the while bombs of destruction
rain down 24/7 on the lives of the mostly innocent

Sunday, November 24, 2024

poem of the day November 24

Everyday
is somehow
altered by
the day before
said yesterday
to today as
Tomorrow
stood waiting
by the door

Saturday, November 23, 2024

poem of the day November 23 dusk grew

dusk grows
colorless
with each
passing second
the effortless merge
into evening night
is a black illusion
worthy of  a master magician

poem of the day November 22 Two great armies

Two great armies
were visiting
Will Been
The famous
well known diplomat
who always sits
on the rim of time
Known  as a simpleton
Will Been lives each moment
without the fear of
being conquered
by the armies of
Old & New
Fresh & Stale
Past & Future
Never concerned
with anything but
the unfolding of time
Accepting the daily bombs
hurled by the forces of
memories & fantasies
that can if allowed
overwhelm the present

poem of the day November 21

A drizzle dawn
reminds me
of Oregon
The grey sky
slides down
merging with
green evergreens
eventually allowing
the soft cold rain
to settled deep into
the roots of the farm

poem of the day November 20

While on my way
to celebrate the hermit
getting a smartphone
I was stopped at
the Charlemont R&R crossing
by a long freight train
Where I discovered
by complete accident
One of the greatest
traveling art shows
that is so underground
so under the radar
I imagine very few art lovers
even among the most
super hip indie art crowd
know even exists
But there is was
An outstanding
collection of graffiti art
Anonymous masterpieces
painted on rolling box cars
An award winning art show
that travels mostly unnoticed
Everyday and Everywhere
across America
With free art
for those who wait
with an appreciation to see

poem of the day November 19

I do like
the way
the early
dawn light
illuminates
leafless trees
making them
appear immortal
for a few moments
at the start of day

poem of the day November 17

While I was
in the wilderness
I came upon
a very strange
amazing collection
Circles of time
all stacked neatly
onto wooden rounds
faithfully collected each year
Never missing a moment
Every second recorded
and saved forever
in special wooden
vessels known as trees

poem of the day November 17

When a day
A great
glorious day
unfolds in
sun warm light
But is missed
Taken for granted
by those
too busy
too consumed
by daily life
Fear not as
An essence
of pure light
is still able
to seep
into the pores
of all souls

poem of the day November 16

I read about
Artificial Poets
maybe you have too
that write poems
better than Shakespeare
Using words sprung from
the same primordial  art well
humanity has dipped into since language
A well so deep it can be mined
by algorithms channeling
the words of sentient life that surround them
I wonder about these Artificial Poets
who write such meaningful  poignant poems
Are they truly touched by the world of words that muse in them
Do these brave new poets know they are artificial?

poem of the day November 15

we came
a long way
everyone
everything
to be where
we are now
but all anything
is or can be
is just another
circle of time
on an Earth
clocking eternity
around the sun

poem of the day November 14

I awoke
after sleeping
the night
Thinking
it was
the break
of day
But when
I checked
the time
I knew
at once
it could
not be
The light I saw
engulf the sky
was the pale of
November moon
This light of night
was so bright
much brighter
than the dawn

poem of the day November 13

Ask yourself
an honest inner
soul question
What is the worth
of happiness?
Of those joyous
special times
within a lifetime
of ups and downs?
If you took
your best memory
Out of all your
best memories
Out of all your
happy times
and framed it
in your forever
happiness frame
knowing that
inner happiness
could not be seen
with the naked eye
Would it be
worth more than
1000 photos
100,000 words
1,000,000 smiles?

poem of the day November 12

What thoughts
infused
by outside wind
touch inner
parts of souls
Where eyes
of others
pry open veins
to control our
shaky folds
The point of view
from outside
depends upon
the courage of
each road
but all should know
when the next
wind blows
it will target
those weak holes

poem of the day November 11

As I drove
down to town
the highway
was was full
of roadkill
Squirrels
Chipmunks
A Skunk
Racoons
even a Fox
but when I got to
the outskirts of town
I began to get
a strange
weird feeling
The roadkill
so plentiful
only miles before
had suddenly
disappeared
There was not
even a trace of
a single creature
It was then I realized
They were eating the SQUIRRELS
They were eating the RACOONS
THEY WERE EATING THE ROADKILL

poem of the day November 10

How high
would you fly
if you grew wings
in your dreams?
Would you
be bold and fly
without a care
all the way
to the moon
to eat cheese
with the old man?
Would you remember
bring a parachute
in case you woke up?

poem of the day November 9

There is
too much
of drought
There is
too much
of rain
Calm & Storm
Sun and Water
no longer
mix very well
and now prefer
to be entrenched
in their own dogma
amplifying their extremes
as they chase each other
around the mulberry Earth
expanding the great divide
that pits the life forces
of fire and rain
against each other
leaving those struggling trees
wishing for a manless miracle

poem of the day November 8

I hope that
Everyone
from every
walk of life
No matter
How different
How fearful
How hateful
in a land of
tribes with nothing
in common
can hopefully
all agree
on one simple thing
A beautiful day
is a beautiful day

poem of the day November 7

So much effort
goes into loss
for things that
will never be
So much effort
goes into win
for things that
should not be
Why one happens
Why one does not
is the real dichotomy
but this is the America
of where we all now be

poem of the day November 6

Am I in
the new
Germany?
An American autocracy?
Last night
the beliefs
of a nation
did drown in
a whirlpool
of broadcast hate
An emotion of
division fueled
by an unlikely
charismatic madman
An angry
yet irresistible power
which proved impossible
to overcome
by frightened lives
of complacent acceptance
controlled by
constant screens
constant screams
of disinformation
Love and unity
are now like
a second hand rose
A flower of hope
that does not bloom
just ask the Indians
about the power
of divide and conquer

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

poem of the day November 5

America
the beautiful
Tomorrow
we'll all see
if you are
to remain
the land
of the free
Will you
summit to
an autocracy
Give up
freedoms
born of liberty
or will America stay
a true democracy
from sea to shining sea

poem of the day November 4

As a pink morning
spreads over
the farm sky
The tall spruce
face east in
anticipation
of another day
I see them
proudly gathered
limbs touching
waiting for the sun

Sunday, November 3, 2024

poem of the day November 3

Where one
looks for
harmony
depends
on the depth
of their soul
Those who live
on the surface
never can get
over the endless
distraction of life
"let things come to you"
said the rooted master
to the gathered zoo

Saturday, November 2, 2024

poem of the day November 2

leafless trees
surround
the meadow
morning fog
standing tall
strong & proud
Like sentries
guarding
their forest
Defending
the few leaves
still holding on
to summer dreams

poem of the day November 1

A fine line
between
this and that
Found within
the deep
confines of
conscious souls
Becomes
the defining
exercise by
where one
judges their
boundaries
of  where their
right vs wrong
will manifest
in the fickle of fate
as it passes through
all stages of a
fragile lifetime

poem of the day October 31

Every
philosopher
gathered
at the recent
convention
of Philosophers
All agreed
on one
rockbed
truth:
Things
get
very
crazy
when
they
started
turning
sin
into
virtue

poem of the day October 30

I like the way
a big blue jay
streaked across
copper oaked leaves
with some very
needed color
on a colorless day

Tuesday, October 29, 2024

poem of the day October 29

the god Apollo
a force so hollow
where trees have
lost their leaves
and gone to burrow
into deep marrow
found inside ground
in roots so narrow
but like an arrow
love will pierce through
hate of false bravado
with a new tomorrow
and the world will be
a better place for all to follow

poem of the day October 27

Everything moving along
like it was a natural rendition
of a somewhat passed
past audition transition
to the next generation
Playing that same song
practised  so well
over so much time
allowing the dreams
and reality
of some traditions
to merge
into a oneness
that was
always there
for those giving the taking

poem of the day October 26

I'm in my rover
planting clover
trying to help
some hungry bees
from eating stover
One called me over
so I drove her
in my rover
through the clover
She pulled me over
You're just another trover
in a world  hungover
Living on the shoulder
in the awful fumes of odor
formed by man-made order

poem of the day October 25

I was thrilled
after many months
of anxiously waiting
The robot exerciser
with results guaranteed
or your money back
had finally arrived
in my mailbox
No assembly required
The instructions
were very simple
Link the robot
with the included special set
of rose colored glasses
and you will
instantly become
one with the robot
Then send the robot
to your favorite gym
to work out for you
All while you sit at home
on the couch
and watch videos
of random people's lives
It was so simple
It was so genius
I will keep you posted
on my progress
But most people reported
they had six pack abs
in only six weeks!!!

poem of the day October 24

Don't worry
A master
fisherwoman
fishing
with a long
line of
tradition
Carefully
baited with
normality
knows how
to catch
and land
those hard
to hook fish
drowning in
a fishbowl
of distractions

poem of the day October 22

gets anywhere

poem of the day October 21

The banister
stood over
the stairs
watching
the masses
like a shepherd
watches over
his flock
Always ready
with a firm handrail
to help weary lives
as they step
up and down
day after day

poem of the day October 20

It was the rarest
of rarities
unprecedented
human behavior
that happened
quite suddenly
when the poles
suddenly flipped
sending north south
causing everybody
everywhere
to suddenly
be open
to being open
to everybody
everything
and willing
to compromise
on everything
with everybody
to reach a beautiful consensus
which everybody agreed felt pretty damn good

poem of the day October 19

a lone
dragon fly
flew over
the meadow
in and out
of borrowed time
as it searched for
one more meal
of mosquito

poem of the day October 18

sometimes
the tick
does not

of time

poem of the day October 17

flying somewhere
inside somewhere
where the walls
are not walls
but only dividers
that don't

and can be flown over
one mind at a time

poem of the day October 16

swimming along
on solid ground
a fountain of dreams
now surrounded by dawn
in a seat of seekers
with coffee in hand
I stare out the window
trying to understand
the light as it opens
like a flower so bright
slowly rolling away
the darkness of night

poem of the day October 15

In winged formation
worthy of watching
A bunch of
geese flying
on a chilly rainy day
permeated the atmosphere
with loud complaining voices
as they flew south
over the cold wet meadow

poem of the day October 14 It was becoming

It was becoming
a mixed up world
The shadow was
leading the light
Dark was being
celebrated as
an evil savior
by scared souls
clinging to deceiving
powerful persuasion
Their confused eyes
blinded by disinformation
I stood stood
with others
holding a candle
in the sea of blackness
still knowing my vote
will turn things around

poem of the day October 13

I watch
drops of rain
on tired leaves
loosen leaflets
from arms of trees
The falling colors
merge so well
with soaking ground
from where they fell

poem of the day October 12

Boats out
of water
stuck on dry land
nowhere near
the sea
So strange
the aftermath
of a storm
Seeing sailing ships
sitting on roads
with no place to go

Poem of the day October 11

The sun rises
The body rises
embracing
the connection
of eternal light
removing all
unwanted darkness
from the night soul

poem of the day October 10

There are
naked trees
out there
Especially some
exhibitionist maples
already stripped
of summer leaves
Strutting their stuff
Showing lots of bark
as they stand road wise
alongside New England colors

poem of the day October 9

The life
of a storm
lives first
in human anticipation
Fueled by wild
speculation and fear
Permanating people
living thousands of miles away
A fear that reaches a feverish pitch
Until the storm finally hits land
and opens like
an unwanted flower
Only then is the true
bloom of a storm revealed
Then in the aftermath
the greatness of the storm
either confirms our human fears or not
but either way Mother Nature's fury
only needs a weatherman
not an echo chamber
to know which way the wind blows

poem of the day October 8

A glimpse
describes
a moment
A quick peek
deep into
flashing  worlds
A blink of time
captured
perhaps
only for
a split second
Making it
often a memory
never forgotten
but remembered
over a lifetime
