poem of the day December 28 The Way of puzzle
The Way of puzzle
starts with piece after piece
tossed out of a box
spread out on a table
all shapes and sizes
randomly scattered in chaos
fine paintings of all sorts and kinds
waiting to be found by eagle eyed minds
then placed by seasoned hands
sometimes working hours overtime
assembling all pieces into a grand whole
So very Zen and the only way now or then
to put humpty dumpty back together again

poem of the day December 26
I didn't win
the lottery
Maybe you
didn't win too?
I am not a newly
minted billionaire
buying ridiculous
Peacock coats
Trips to outer space
An ambassadorship
to some grand island
I know nothing about
But for a few moments
I did feel the greed
of unlimited midas desire
Maybe you did too?

poem of the day December 25
the aftermath
of a wild
raging river
full of happy rapids
has stormed down
breaching the stairs
in awe and wonderment
leaving all with big happy
smiles from coast to coast
MERRY CHRISTMAS FOR
THOSE THAT BELIEVE
MERRY HAPPINESS
FOR THOSE THAT DON'T
CAUSE MERRY IS MERRY
THE MOOD AND THE POINT

poem of the day December 24
Has anyone
ever wondered
what happens
when an old house
built in the wrong place
with a mountain of memories
saturated deep into its beams
is taken down to make way for the new
and the antique patinated wood
is recycled into modern furniture
Does anything old
Does anything gold
left from the lives
of those who called
that house a home
live on and survive?

poem of the day December 21
Shortest of days
Longest of nights
a yearly celebration
taking place today
at the darkest hour
When the old dim candle
finally burns out
all of last of year's light
Plunging the earth
into the solitude of winter
but do not fear
even in this moment
a candle reborn
flickers the wilderness
with new beginnings
as virgin light shines the mind

poem of the day December 20
SOS Help!
I don't know
what to do
My new
smart oven
is having
a nervous
breakdown
and is in need
of a good therapist
The oven
just beeped
warning me
that soon
it would
beep again
to warn me
an alarm would
go off when
my pie was done
I have to say
I am on edge with
the oven's constant OCD
omnipresent beeping
If this is the way
of the smart future
It is making me
very nervous
for the mental health
of robots and droids

poem of the day December 16
The order different
The different order
of spoken words
of words spoken
often is, is often
a meaning changed
a changed meaning
between somewhere
somewhere between
wrong right
right wrong
light dark
dark light
big long shots
shots long big
fork by road
road by fork
hardly working
working hardly
early late
late early
bitter sweet
sweet bitter
sitter baby
baby sitter
zoo crazy
crazy zoo
who cares
cares who?

poem of the day December 6
The merging
went beyond simply
revolving around
another lost sun
The light of that universe
decorated the long night
with strings of pearls
seen from mountains
light years away
The shortened day
help extend the life
of the Milky Way
almost to the dawn
where the merge was
faithfully watched by me
my dogs and 3 house plantsoe

poem of the day November 28
Somehow
in the middle
of the night
A sleeping farm
has turned all white
Snow has covered
the green remains
of yesterday's grass
on summer terrain
The change came quick
without a sound
as big white flakes
fell to the ground
And all my thoughts
are now very littered
Could this snow be
the start of winter?

poem of the day November 25
I find it very
very strange
very unsettling
the priorities
now embraced
by a new humanity
How Mankind has
no problem making
more and more
lethal weapons
of mass destruction
able to indiscriminately
kill thousands at a time
for the game of war
without much thought of
collateral damage
Yet when it comes
to he-man macho sports
like gladiator football
the world has become
extremely obsessed
about preventable injuries
going to great lengths
to emasculate the game
with new rules and safety equipment
Watering down human sacrifice
so no one gets hurt on Sunday
turning the once violent game
into games of Mary had a little lamb
All the while bombs of destruction
rain down 24/7 on the lives of the mostly innocent

poem of the day November 22 Two great armies
Two great armies
were visiting
Will Been
The famous
well known diplomat
who always sits
on the rim of time
Known as a simpleton
Will Been lives each moment
without the fear of
being conquered
by the armies of
Old & New
Fresh & Stale
Past & Future
Never concerned
with anything but
the unfolding of time
Accepting the daily bombs
hurled by the forces of
memories & fantasies
that can if allowed
overwhelm the present

poem of the day November 20
While on my way
to celebrate the hermit
getting a smartphone
I was stopped at
the Charlemont R&R crossing
by a long freight train
Where I discovered
by complete accident
One of the greatest
traveling art shows
that is so underground
so under the radar
I imagine very few art lovers
even among the most
super hip indie art crowd
know even exists
But there is was
An outstanding
collection of graffiti art
Anonymous masterpieces
painted on rolling box cars
An award winning art show
that travels mostly unnoticed
Everyday and Everywhere
across America
With free art
for those who wait
with an appreciation to see

poem of the day November 16
I read about
Artificial Poets
maybe you have too
that write poems
better than Shakespeare
Using words sprung from
the same primordial art well
humanity has dipped into since language
A well so deep it can be mined
by algorithms channeling
the words of sentient life that surround them
I wonder about these Artificial Poets
who write such meaningful poignant poems
Are they truly touched by the world of words that muse in them
Do these brave new poets know they are artificial?

poem of the day November 13
Ask yourself
an honest inner
soul question
What is the worth
of happiness?
Of those joyous
special times
within a lifetime
of ups and downs?
If you took
your best memory
Out of all your
best memories
Out of all your
happy times
and framed it
in your forever
happiness frame
knowing that
inner happiness
could not be seen
with the naked eye
Would it be
worth more than
1000 photos
100,000 words
1,000,000 smiles?

poem of the day November 11
As I drove
down to town
the highway
was was full
of roadkill
Squirrels
Chipmunks
A Skunk
Racoons
even a Fox
but when I got to
the outskirts of town
I began to get
a strange
weird feeling
The roadkill
so plentiful
only miles before
had suddenly
disappeared
There was not
even a trace of
a single creature
It was then I realized
They were eating the SQUIRRELS
They were eating the RACOONS
THEY WERE EATING THE ROADKILL

poem of the day November 9
There is
too much
of drought
There is
too much
of rain
Calm & Storm
Sun and Water
no longer
mix very well
and now prefer
to be entrenched
in their own dogma
amplifying their extremes
as they chase each other
around the mulberry Earth
expanding the great divide
that pits the life forces
of fire and rain
against each other
leaving those struggling trees
wishing for a manless miracle

poem of the day November 6
Am I in
the new
Germany?
An American autocracy?
Last night
the beliefs
of a nation
did drown in
a whirlpool
of broadcast hate
An emotion of
division fueled
by an unlikely
charismatic madman
An angry
yet irresistible power
which proved impossible
to overcome
by frightened lives
of complacent acceptance
controlled by
constant screens
constant screams
of disinformation
Love and unity
are now like
a second hand rose
A flower of hope
that does not bloom
just ask the Indians
about the power
of divide and conquer

poem of the day October 27
Everything moving along
like it was a natural rendition
of a somewhat passed
past audition transition
to the next generation
Playing that same song
practised so well
over so much time
allowing the dreams
and reality
of some traditions
to merge
into a oneness
that was
always there
for those giving the taking

poem of the day October 26
I'm in my rover
planting clover
trying to help
some hungry bees
from eating stover
One called me over
so I drove her
in my rover
through the clover
She pulled me over
You're just another trover
in a world hungover
Living on the shoulder
in the awful fumes of odor
formed by man-made order

poem of the day October 25
I was thrilled
after many months
of anxiously waiting
The robot exerciser
with results guaranteed
or your money back
had finally arrived
in my mailbox
No assembly required
The instructions
were very simple
Link the robot
with the included special set
of rose colored glasses
and you will
instantly become
one with the robot
Then send the robot
to your favorite gym
to work out for you
All while you sit at home
on the couch
and watch videos
of random people's lives
It was so simple
It was so genius
I will keep you posted
on my progress
But most people reported
they had six pack abs
in only six weeks!!!

poem of the day October 20
It was the rarest
of rarities
unprecedented
human behavior
that happened
quite suddenly
when the poles
suddenly flipped
sending north south
causing everybody
everywhere
to suddenly
be open
to being open
to everybody
everything
and willing
to compromise
on everything
with everybody
to reach a beautiful consensus
which everybody agreed felt pretty damn good

poem of the day October 14 It was becoming
It was becoming
a mixed up world
The shadow was
leading the light
Dark was being
celebrated as
an evil savior
by scared souls
clinging to deceiving
powerful persuasion
Their confused eyes
blinded by disinformation
I stood stood
with others
holding a candle
in the sea of blackness
still knowing my vote
will turn things around

poem of the day October 9
The life
of a storm
lives first
in human anticipation
Fueled by wild
speculation and fear
Permanating people
living thousands of miles away
A fear that reaches a feverish pitch
Until the storm finally hits land
and opens like
an unwanted flower
Only then is the true
bloom of a storm revealed
Then in the aftermath
the greatness of the storm
either confirms our human fears or not
but either way Mother Nature's fury
only needs a weatherman
not an echo chamber
to know which way the wind blows
