poem of the day December 31

slippery
wobbling
ice has
sprung
up all over
the place
giving all
a good reason
to be
careful
while walking
down the road

poem of the day December 30

The reflection
of vanity
off the smooth lake
was hard to see
in the shallow water
Not as deep or as
detailed as the reflection
in the mirror
yet the reflection
from the mirror
was the most
shallow reflection
of all

poem of the day December 29

I heard
it said
if a rose
is not red
it's just
a flower
without
a soul
and not
the color
of love
I'm told

poem of the day December 28

There has
been a great
mix up
in humanity
when it comes
to peace
One that has
persisted for
thousand of years
mostly caused
and spread
by the contagious fear
found inside
of insecure
cruel charismatic
cult leaders
bent on
preserving power
What we need
is a new
understanding
of strength
one where
mankind will
finally come
to understand
War is for
the weak
Peace is for
the strong

poem of the day December 27

the backside
of morning
slips into view
following the tips
of the toes
as they touch
first light
where
I can see
their footprints
clear as day
on the fresh
night snow

poem of the day December 26

How it
all works
day after day
moving from
place to place
in time with time
is one of those
many mysteries
of a body trying
to do something
very familiar
like rise with
the sun
after a night
of speed dreaming

poem of the day December 25

Oh Christmas tree
fresh cut
and placed
for all to see
surrounded by
by presents
decorated
so nice
honored for
your sacrifice
Does you feel
any christmas joy
to see the smiles
in all young eyes
marveling at
your beauty
as you slowly die
Oh Christmas tree

poem of the day December 24

Near duck
soft snow
lingers in
the afternoon
atmosphere
blending
very well
into the grey sky
almost as if
plein air painting
an impressionistic
masterpiece
thick with
tangible
wet impasto
worthy of
a French master

poem of the day December 23

Lost souls
were having
some tea
in a cabin
by the sea
When a wave
from a whale
slapped out
of the veil
And onto
the deck
that had just
been swept
of everything
Except for
original sins
that lingered
in the fingers
tempting souls
to convert
or die of thirst
It was so desperate
even landlocked whales
did blow into the flow
in an attempt to show
those brainwashed souls
that nothing is true
when one lives in the zoo

poem of the day December 22

light and dark
mix very well
in the minds
of mortals
who can
find the grey
in black and white
but light and dark
don't mix
night and day
very well into grey

poem of the day December 21

The dark
has left
The light
returns
Happens
this time
every year
on the solstice
doorway of change
but a change so subtle
it is mostly forgotten
in the commercial
rush towards Christmas

poem of the day December 20

The biggest
grandest
strangest
widest
most vibrant  rainbow
I have ever seen
dropped out of the sky
and was touching down
Illuminating the ground
as I drove
down the road
going east
At one point
the rainbow
even shimmered
with extra sparkles
like a  magic star
right into someone's home
where I hope it left a pot of gold

poem of the day December 19

The space
between
Heaven & Earth
passes through
all beings
Fueling all
possibilities
A place
where
the good
the bad
the ugly
breathe
the same air
over and over again

poem of the day December 18

The windless light
grey and colorless
faded into dark shadows
until all that was left
were the memories
of a slow drifting day

poem of the day December 17 If your lover

If your lover
moved to
a full moon base
Would you grab
the next flight
to outer space
Would you two
make love
in some side
view room
watching the cow
jump over the moon?

poem of the day December 16

Master was
was talking
about light
Asking
an old
perplexing
question
about seeing
to the gathered
students who
were stumbling in
the moonless
cloudy dark
impossible
to penetrate
black night
"Does one see more
in the darkness
with eyes closed
or with eyes opened?"

poem of the day December 15

What comes first?
The list or the bucket?
The dream or the reality?
The chicken or the egg?
All these thoughts
were swimming around
inside the silver dollar
as it was flipped
up in the air
trying to decide
on heads or tails

poem of the day December 14

The same
unanswered question
has been asked
for centuries
by all new snowmen
all over the world
as they come to life
on the first winter snow
"Where have all the old snowmen gone?"

poem of the day December 13

Big fish living
in landlocked lakes
were having
a hard time
meeting other
Big fish in
in landlocked lakes
to the point where
they all were living
a sad loveless life
until one day
when the flood arrived
and they were
all able to join
the hot new dating site
the was overflowing
the river banks
Big fish in Small ponds

poem of the day December 12

Waves at sunrise
Seagulls chanting
A pine bends
keeping tempo
for sea and wind
Allowing time
to follow in
the same direction
as the sun

poem of the day December 11

I am eating avocados
grown in Mexico
Watching wild Turkeys
gobble apples
in the snow
House mice
in the pantry
are munching
on some corn
And all is fine
at dinner time
on a farm
we all call home

poem of the day December 10

I hope
the sun
can pick
me out
on this
cold day
as I stand
watching
it rise
and shine
some much
needed light
right into
my soul

poem of the day December 9

Take a swing
batter up
The ball
of life
is bouncing
through the door
But remember
when swinging
for a lifetime
the difference
between a door
that opens out
and a door
that opens in
is the difference
between coming & going

poem of the day December 8

Are
those
things
inside
within
the eye
of all
those
things
found
inside
within
the eye
off all
those
things
only
seeing
those
things
within
the I

poem of the day December 7

Another lap
of running
around
the familiar
old track
Becomes
the trap
and sets
the pace
for the race
of our lifetime

poem of the day December 6

Cold moonlight
big and full
shines on
a grove
of stoic hemlocks
standing still
in the illuminated
winter night
Looking at them
snow covered
Bows swaying
effortlessly in
the frozen light
I am reminded
of the meaning
of acceptance

poem of the day December 5

Invisible life
hidden but
always around
The animal show
has come to town
Where they come
Where they go
becomes revealed
in the winter snow

poem of the day December 4

No more
giving for
the sake of giving
To give now
one needs
a quid pro quo
something in return
for giving
some recognition
some tax break
We are
in the age
of  skin deep
shallowness
Where an audience
is now needed for every
single gift of giving
The ego has evolved
into a cartoon character
in need of boasting
about self greatness
No longer is it about
the good of giving
it is about how good
you look in giving
The days of humbleness
have tumbled out of virtue
are now seen as weakness
Attempts are made to limit
those who help others
without helping themselves
I see the daily flow
of billionaires
seeking the disease
of attention as they
throw bones
into needy minds
unknowingly
being mined
of their souls

poem of the day December 3

Poignant light
struggling steps
lost afternoon
A summer fawn
under the apple
meets first snow
Appearing lonely
cold & hungry
She stumbles
like an orphan
left out in a storm

Tuesday, December 2, 2025

poem of the day December 2 a lingering poem

a lingering poem
some addicting tune
remembered inside
for far too long
must be pretty good
to stay around
within the hood
to enter into
somebody's mind
be in their head
chair or bed
a poem that wiggles
the soul again
like the song that
never ever ends

poem of the day December 1

When the pressure
of an egg
grows too strong
inside the shell
it forces
the inside out
Humpty dumpty
falls off the wall
and breaks into
a new revolution
Sometimes that
is a good thing
Sometimes it is not
Still once the egg
is cracked open
the yoke inside
uncontrollably
drips all over
the world
to infect everything
like a feverish yellow sun

poem of the day November 30

There is
so much
heat in
the sun
burning
hydrogen
so fast
it might
only last
a few more
billion years
Yet somehow
us mortal humans
are in a panic
charmingly consumed
about our star's future

snow showers

poem of the day November 28

sometimes
it is closer

then it is

and walking
away from
your dreams

poem of the day November 27

Is everybody
up and ready to go
on a big turkey bolt?
Have you all
emptied your bowels?
Brushed your teeth?
Done a few stretches
Prepositioned  the Pepto Bismol?
Gotten dressed in loose
but fashionable attire
in anticipation for
the greatest grand day
of  excessive overeating
ever invented by a bird
I am personally planning on
skipping breakfast
Only a cup of black Joe
to be extra hungry
before eating three of everything!!!
Before Gobbling, Gobbling, Gobbling it up
Hope you all are thinking the same
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

poem of the day November 26

I see you
standing inside
of the dawn
somewhere between
night and morn
arms outstretched
reaching for the sky
I see your smile
my tree oh my

poem of the day November 25

A little hope
fell from the sky
on to ground
that had been
plowed into submission
by the eagerness of greed
These small sprouts of goodness
not based on division or wealth
fell in forgotten places
overlooked by giant yachts
driven by very lonely loveless men
Small seeds of hope grew in fringe areas
like food banks, local church congregations and families
where the fragile sprouts of hope are being sheltered
from the artificial drones patrolling life in the garden

poem of the day November 24

For those
who delight
in antiques
there are hints
of past lives
Subtle signs
of things
once touched
once loved
You can see
it in the patina
of objects
cherished
by other random souls
Another intangible
inheritance
passed down
by all things human

poem of the day November 23

where does
where end up

thought too long
about where to be?

poem of the day November 22

Welcome to
the 24 hour
collection of news
Stories from all
over the world
Everything from
ants eating turtles
deers shooting goldfish
to mountains marrying valleys
attended by aliens wearing Gucci
All pouring forth
from the magic box
sitting on the table
Random events
Random lives
Random truths
Random lies
Nonstop waves
breaking into homes
from everywhere
And all of us
like it or not
with a never ending
front row street

poem of the day November 21

Another
November
grey day
Sun too cold
to break
the sky
I hear
a blue jay
squawking
to the shivering
It's Ok
It's OK
to be in
the grey

poem of the day November 20

Lives of opinions
from truth to delusion
joined together
to form big wet
paper boulders
Attracting schools
of lost bait fish
swimming around
looking to serve
a circle pony
Eventually there
were many of
these hollow
floating rocks
Fragile paper tigers
salt and peppering
the vast ocean
of humanity
There on the high seas
waves constantly
battered all these
islands of opinions
Most were
melted back into
the eternal vastness
But some good ideas
along with some bad ideas
were able to withstand
the stormy weather
to become powerful moral law

poem of the day November 19

When surfing
the good life
on Earth
It is wise
to remember
Big waves
roam the ocean
Big wind shakes
the sky
But outer space
is a big mistake
for a mortal man to fly

poem of the day November 18

Why does gold
make souls
so greedy
so unsatisfied
Make one
want more
and more
Why do flowers
so fleeting
so fragile
Make souls
so happy
so giving
so loving
The objects
of desires
Temptations
good and bad
are woven
into the yarn of life
which of course
gets tangled in
all ways possible
to form the fabric of life

poem of the day November 17

The sandman
came during
the night and
filled the tired
eyes of Earth
with a dusting of
approaching winter
I watched Mother
while she waited
for the sun
to melt the
hint of snow
that had gathered
in the corners
of her still
sleeping meadow

poem of the day November 16

Life of awake
Life of dream
often cross
each other in
seeping ways
Future becomes Now
Now becomes Future
How the bookends bond
within the see-saw of life
can sometimes be
the best of all humanity

poem of the day November 15

once again
the sun rises

Friday, November 14, 2025

poem of the day November 14

Thick light matter
eventually melts back into
the flow of pure light
The crystalline glow of  life
returns to the ocean of  light
melting metamorphosing
until thick light is dissolved
into omnipotent mother light
This allows another crystallization
another birth of soul lighted matter
continuing the never ending circle of light within light

poem of the day November 13

The drumming alone
was just like those poems
that sit inside of your head
The beat of the mind
keeps up with the time
to fit in all that was said
The evening unwinds
in a river of rhymes
painting all those
poems into red
where once a while
with a crocodile smile
they ban all those
books you have read

poem of the day November 12

first snow
clings to green
meadow grass
blue jay
flies from
tree to tree
calling out
Winter is coming
Winter is coming"
so far the sun
has not appeared
to melt the day
More flurries on the way

poem of the day November 10

I found
myself in
Smileland
trying to find
a smile
to remember
We've all
seen one
Hoped for one
Maybe even been one
Felt the twist of lips
the spontaneous
curl up call into the soul
As I walked
through Smileland
I became overwhelmed
by the vastness
of smiles
nervous smile
sad smile
fresh smile
used smile
happy smile
innocent smile
With so many smiles
they all began to feel fake
making it impossible to find
an all knowing smile
I soon became tired
of too many smiles
floating around
and I found myself
somehow wishing for a frown
so I sat down on an upturned log
trying to smile my way out of this fog

poem of the day November 11

The art of
managing emotion
has brought down
many a civilization
Without hot air
the balloon
stays flat
Too much hot air
the balloon
bursts open
These extremes
of all or nothing
breed the breath
of rage & violence
The lungs of life
like a tide
are needed
to regulated
each and every
drop of oxygen

poem of the day November 9

Short days
November grey
A dark silvery chill
rushes by trees
dropping the last
of their leaves
Starkness brings
a solitude of limbo
as November grey
mashes itself
into the autumn canvas
especially around
the ashen bark
of an old ash

poem of the day November 8

a walk among
thoughts is full
of twists & turns
maps & impulse
in minds of matter
with lots of internal chatter

poem of the day November 7

If you were
the light
looking out
on those
needing the light
Watching those
needing the light
looking at the light
radiating inside of you
Would you be their sun
Would you be their moon
Would you be their morning
Would you be their afternoon
Would you be the light
of a good selfless friend
shining out so bright into all of them?

poem of the day November 6

A turning point
happens when
dark clouds of
delusion
finally
run out
of steam
and love
breaks
the strangle
hole of hate
Then the sun
is able to
once again
light the way
of hope
sending
the pendulum
back toward
life liberty
and the pursuit
of happiness

poem of the day November 5

Green brown colors
of autumn afternoon
stand like comrades
facing a common dusk
Metaphorizing
they meld into
each other's hue
until as one
they disappear into
the darkness of night

Tuesday, November 4, 2025

poem of the day November 4

sometimes
a road
travels
for miles
in a mind
over and over
with no thought
of time
a tank full gas
only powers
a car
to reach out
for dreams
a soul needs
a star

poem of the day November 3

Leaves were
living it up
The strong wind
twirled some
circled others
A large number
ran down the street
as if a wild mob
While high in the air
two lone leaves fluttered
like sad longing lovers
I watched them fall
to the ground
feeling the poignancy
of impermanence

poem of the day November 2

I'm in love
with Sister Sadie
She's in love
with Sally Woo
Sally Woo loves
Peter Maybe
Peter Maybe loves
Simon Ewe
All those loves
inside a rainbow
change within the
morning dew
Now Sister Sadie
loves Peter Maybe
Peter Maybe loves
Sally Woo
Sally Woo loves
me like crazy
but I'm in love
with Simon Ewe
And inside an
inclusive bubble
all these loves
can all be true

poem of the day November 1

every line
straight or circle
revolves within
the halls of time
has an end
and a beginning
but  when traveling
the speed of light
the lines bend
and blur
making it
impossible
to know
if the end
is the beginning
or the beginning
is the end?

poem of the day October 31

Halfway between
equinox & solstice
lies the spooky realm
of All Hallows Eve
The opening portal
of living with the dead
A strange unsettled time
when the vapors
of ghosts & goblins mingle
with innocent laughing
halloween costumed children
eagerly hunting candy
Night knocking on doors
where everyone shouts
TRICK OR TREAT
mostly unaware
of the ancient meaning

poem of the day October 30

A few trees
still clothed
most trees
very naked
all shivering
Day cold
morning dark
heavy rain
to come
upon the plain
A good dawn
to stay inside

poem of the day October 29 Spring tightening

Spring tightening
squeezing all
the common good
All the compassion
out of America
Tighter Tighter
each day till
the clock ticks
but does not tok
Leaving no space
Blurring the line
between lies & truth
Only focus is
the new virtue of greed
Where leaders dance
in the golden ballroom
complementing
each others good looks
All with no care of
their loyal subjects
starving on the streets
But it is wise to remember
as the French did long ago
when the clock does finally break
there are many more have-nots
than those who have

poem of the day October 28

At the 11th century
castle ruins
where
the movie
Braveheart
was filmed
feeling the real past
Life long gone
but ghosts everywhere
Arrow shooting windows
guard the outer walls
Inner moat empty
still visible
covered by
green grass
The towering castle
with ancient
stone stairs
lead both to
living quarters
and dungeons

Poem of the day October 27

The driver did arrive to Galway
having travelled from very far away
Driving backwards wrong sided roads
through a Limerick of no control
Yet somehow the driver got there anyway

poem of the day October 26

An east coast
American guy
standing on
a sand beach
western shore
of the Atlantic
Absorbing
the power
of the sea
trying to feel
the subtleness
of Irish ocean chi
3000 miles
from the waves
where I usually be

poem of the day October 25 Plenty of

Plenty of
priceless emeralds
dot the Emerald Isle
Treasures as far as
the eye can see
Deep dark rich grasses
cover hillsides
full of mist & rainbows
reminding me that
the most beautiful jewels
in the world are plentiful and free

poem of the day October 24

A rainbow
over Tipperary
for some
a sign pointing
the long way home
For some only
the greed of
a pot of gold
I just hope
the leprechauns
of the mind
don't steal it
from the leprechauns
who work the mine

poem of the day October 23

Walking on
a cobblestone
old city
ancient road
reminds me
of things very passed
Seeing bullet holes
on Irish statues
from the 1916 uprising
reminds me of a recent past
But things new within
the old walls of Dublin
reminds me of now

poem of the day October 22

James Joyce
Molly Malone
and Oscar Wilde
adorned in
well dressed
proper Astro bodies
were gathered
around a table
in Brazen Head pub
drinking Irish Whiskey
eating an assortment of shellfish
There was an empty seat
and the three seemed to be
waiting for someone
I knew it wasn't me but
I was at the next table
having arrived in
some mad poet dream
listening to their small talk
"These cockles and mussels are alive, alive"
"Yes, I can resist everything but temptation"
"Yes and we all know Mistakes are the portals of discovery"
I wondered, who were they waiting for?
Samuel Beckett, William Butler Yates
perhaps Bram Stoker, George Bernard Shaw?
But no, as I was musing
Jonathon Swift appeared
looking very haggard after a long travel

poem of the day October 21

Traveling
back roads
of Dublin
driving through
Irish lives
Old neighborhoods
Old doorways
Old houses
Old patina covering
generations of  ancient homes
I especially liked
an old couple
standing by an old brick facade
wearing old fashion hats
made of  new wool

poem of the day October 20

a fine fall day
the sun warm
and plentiful
a slight wind
gently rustles
those few leaves
still left on trees
making me realize
some afternoons
though fleeting are
worthy of contentment

poem of the day October 19

America
from Greenfield
to Bakersfield
was alive
with patriots
It was wonderful
to see  everyday
Americans grather
in vast numbers
All there to protest
the lying king
who was hiding in
his hateful house
fixing his hair
applying his makeup
planning his revenge
surrounded by
an army of soulless grifters
eager to profit from
his ever dangerous weave of lies

poem of the day October 18

Autumn green
fall grass tall
emerald jewels
in need  of trimming
Yesterday's wind
whipped the blades
into a frenzy
tufting the strands
into little teepees
that lift out of
the morning frost
like christmas trees

poem of the day October 17

My friend Dan
told me he bought
an antique door
at the flea
He told me
It was an old door
covered with
a wonderful patina
full of time
He said he was going
to put the old door
in his new house
as his new front door
After he left
I started musing:
If you had a door
from another
other house
One that had
opened & closed
for hundreds of years
would there be any
things, thoughts
left of those that
had passed through
that door from
another time
from another house
so long ago?

poem of the day October 16

toxic masculinity
has overrun
the minds
of lonely
immature
unsatisfied
unconfident
young men
talked in
to being
scared of
showing love
for their mommies

poem of the day October 15

Drizzle down
drying fast
in the sun
Misty morning
meadow wings
covering what's
left of falling leaves
Making them glisten
like glossy butterflies
free falling from trees

poem of the day October 14

Sometimes
the light
brightens
the night
Sometimes
it's as dull
as a spoon
Often it seems
caught in some dream
chasing shadows
to power the moon
Where it does shine
it glows like fine wine
fueling oceans  to
swell up the tides
And to no one's surprise
by the morning sunrise
the light is bright in the sky

poem of the day October 13

Can you
walk on
a road
when  wet?
Will you slip
on tears
brought on
by fears
of those who
get caught
in the net?
Are you able
to step on
a slippery web
and still keep
your mind when
walking the line
on a road so
rainy & wet?

poem of the day October 12

Does matter
Does not matter
a soul is trapped
in lives of matter
But what matters
in each life of matter
is how the soul
controls the matter

poem of the day October 10

Took a while
in the frosty cold
to fix the light
of a freezing sunrise
Dawn tried
many different hues
before settling on
a very beautiful warm one

poem of the day October 9

the familiar sound
of wild chainsaws
rattling the woods
of New England
is music to wood stoves
but very scary to
all those trees
living in the forest
hoping they
are not next

poem of the day October 8

The face
within
the mask
peeks out
of a soul
through
the eyes
of the I
There
the inner
face & I
are hidden
from view by
a mask
of one's own
creation

poem of the day October 7

So many minds
floating within
consciousness
of every life
cultured mind
ignorant mind
wild mind
tame mind
strong mind
weak mind
open mind
closed mind
So many
to choose
Which one
which two
three?
A dart is thrown
light opens
sometimes bright
sometimes flickering
then off and running
sorting options
some shine
some dull
some heaven
some hell
All minds
from the well

poem of the day October 6

Owls hooting
in a near full moon
The light was grand
as the owls sang
The moon illuminated
over well lite trees
making it very easy
for the owls to see
I thought of all
the hiding mice
wondering how many
lived the night

poem of the day October 5

Slanting
a new sport
all you need
is a surfboard
full of lies
to skate down
money grubbing platforms
with no regard
at all for the truth
In silly costumes
dressed as cartoons
to capture
the rhythms
of power
of persuasion
to feed the emotions
of fearful souls
into blind submission

poem of the day October 4

where we
all end up
someplace together
where everything
finds completion
same boat
same ocean
same sun
in different minds
but  all attending
the same party
and no matter
how hard one tries
or fights against it
eventual melting
into the same melting pot

poem of the day October 3

I wonder
how many
raindrops
make it
to the sea
The long journey
from rain
to runoff
to stream
to river
Over all those
precarious miles
Dodging thirsty  plants
deadend lakes
and a relentless  sun
Then for those drops
that finally make it
How do they merge
with the salty sea?

poem of the day October 2

The houseplants
are watching
the sunrise
nice and warm
from inside
looking at fragile
sisters & brothers
Summer annuals
waiting to see
if they made it
through the cold night
The houseplants don't say it
but all are very happy
to be sitting by me

poem of the day October 1 Deep inside

Deep inside
every human soul
lives the universe
An omniscient  place
where light & love
merge into perfection
yet is a place
sometimes very
hard to reach
when clouded
by fears of failing

poem of the day September 30

How does
a tree know
when to give
itself up after
revolving around
its own foundation
of wooden memories
since it was planted
soon after the civil war
Swirling in circles
year after year
the tree grew tall and humble
selflessly providing sweet sugar
while shading the farmhouse
through all kinds of weather
Until the last rain
when half of the old dying maple
fell and became
yet another giving tree
Giving me the warm gift
of winter firewood
